Jack Bullet Excerpt

Page 1

Page 1 Panel 1 A helicopter soars over a crazy looking jungle that resembles something from Peter Pan. Panel 2 A man in a suit leans over the helicopter pilot and yells into his own head set. UNCLE SAM There it is. Put her down right there. Not too close, though. Panel 3 The helicopter has landed in front of the open mouth of a cave. The long grass is bending violently from the wind. The area they have landed in is an open space that is surrounded by the thick jungle walls. UNCLE SAM is looking towards the cave mouth as he climbs down the side of the chopper. The POV is from right behind him. Panel 4 We've zoomed in on the cave mouth. Nothing is happening. Panel 5 Close up of UNCLE SAM'S sunglasses. His brow is furrowed. Page 2 Panel 6 We're back looking at the cave mouth. A loud monstrous RAAOOOAAARRRRRR bellows from it. Panel 7 We're looking at the helicopter. The roar has caused the window of the chopper and the glasses of UNCLE SAM to crack. UNCLE SAM is reaching for his weapon. The helicopter blades appear to have slowed down quite a bit. UNCLE SAM Who goes there?! Show yourself! Panel 8 Three horns from the head of a TRICERATOPS pierce the shadow of the opening of the cave mouth. Panel 9 UNCLE SAM has his gun lowered and is looking towards the beast cautiously

2 Panel 10 The TRICERATOPS is mostly revealed and we see a man riding atop in a robe. Panel 11 Back on UNCLE SAM. UNCLE SAM Identify yourself! Page 3 See below. Page 4 Both pages feature JACK BULLET discarding his robe and emitting the exact same roar to the sky that hopefully readers will have thought the TRICERATOPS made. JACK also has insane warrior look in his eye. Page 5 Panel 12 UNCLE SAM is holstering his weapon. The helicopter blades have stopped completely. UNCLE SAM Jack Bullet. Your city needs you. Panel 13 JACK BULLET slides off his TRICERATOPS. JACK BULLET I thought I told you I retired. That I'd gone off into the wilderness to live the rest of my days. Panel 14 UNCLE SAM is taking an 8X11 glossy photo out of his suit jacket walking towards JACK. UNCLE SAM That was over three days ago, Jack. We both know you already miss the adventure. The danger. The back-alley bottle fights. Panel 15 JACK looks at him intensely. JACK BULLET Don't tempt me, suit. There isn't anything or anyone in this world that could bring me back after what happened... Panel 16 UNCLE SAM is now standing in front JACK

3 BULLET, handing him the photo with JACK BULLET already looking at it. The TRICERATOPS is seminoticeable in the background and he subtly and inexplicably has a lit cigarette in his mouth. UNCLE SAM What about him? Panel 17 A very small panel of the photo. It's THE MIME'S mug shot. He's making a duck face. We can see JACK'S fingers holding the photo. Panel 18 JACK looks insanely pissed off.
