publishers It’s Hayley and Ty here, the proud new publishers of The Book of Beautiful Weddings! As I write this letter, I can't help but feel a sense of gratitude flood through my heart! 2021 has been a huge growing year for Ty and me. We started off the year engaged, in July we embarked on the new journey as publishers, and ended the year beginning our life as one. One thing that remained is our unwavering love for the wedding and event industry. You're probably wondering how we work day in and day out as a couple…well let me give you a bit of insight. People often call us the dynamic duo, not because we are wildly talented in every way and in everything we do, but because we are wildly different from each other. Ty has the eye, as funny as it sounds, it’s true! He is the creative mastermind behind the issue you are about to dive into. I, on the other hand, use my talents in journalism to curate a beautiful book, in hopes that by the last page, you are inspired and ready to embark on your own wedding planning journey. The wedding and event industry is not for the faint of heart. WE HANDLE BREAKFAST SO YOU CAN BE THE BRIDE Sara and James Sharp, owners of Salado’s Yellow House Bed and Breakfast give insight into hosting an intimate micro-style wedding on their property. When booking the property, you will get to choose amongst multiple venue locations as to where you want to hold your ceremony. Sara says they don’t push one location yet encourage you to look around the property and choose a space you like. The venue has a rustic-style event center that is primarily used for reception purposes after your ceremony. Sara shared, in the past, brides have enjoyed booking a tent set up for more outside reception space. Having everything in one place is optimal for less travel time and more time to enjoy your wedding and guests! The bed and breakfast has five different houses for lodging, holding up to 35 guests for overnight stays. Some houses include kitchen set-ups, which bring ease when hosting bridal parties and immediate family for the duration of your event. As weddings are becoming more unique in timing, the bed and breakfast is available for full property renting throughout the week and on weekends. Sara says they are happy to offer assistance in ideas for creating your wedding! Their goal is to make your wedding weekend experience stress-free. The Yellow House Bed and Breakfast gives a special touch to your day, by providing the whole duration of your event to take place in a central location. LIGHTING UP LOVE Jeremy and Jackie Vickers of Waco, Texas are owners of Alpha Lit, Waco. The two purchased a franchise of Alpha Lit incorporation and began renting to the Central Texas Area in January 2021. “We wanted something to root us in the community here in Waco,” Jackie shared. “We wanted to not just be living in this community, but be a part of this community.” Jeremy is the entrepreneur of the duo, while Jackie is the creator. When a couple inquires, they say the connection begins there. “Often couples don’t know what they want, they just want a staple piece,” Jackie said. “Ultimately, it’s about the couple’s vision and what they want,” If you’re seeking bold design elements for your day, or want to make moments special by emphasizing an important phrase relevant to your event. Married names, children’s names, significant numbers, and symbols will give your event a personalized touch.

Jackie emphasizes to clients how the letters can contribute to your event; they are completely customizable to your design. You can start by changing bulb colors, choosing your phrase and playing with the stacking or spacing of letters. It is Alpha Lit’s goal to make your night special, they encourage you to bring ideas and seek how they can be brought to life. The opportunities to build on their product are endless. “We love being here in Waco, it’s been great for our kids, us, and our business,” Jackie said Jackie claims this business has incorporated all her family and allows her kids to work and understand the meaning of being a part of the business. “As a family, they are a part of our team,” Jackie said. “We give them jobs and let them earn a few dollars for their work.” The two hope to continue to re-ground themselves and their children here in Waco. HISTORY PRESERVED, WHERE MEMORIES CONTINUE TO BE MADE The Heart of Texas Depot venue got its name for being nestled right in the heart of Texas, in Brady, Tx. The building was built in 1911 where it worked as a railroad until 1973. Since then, it's been a restaurant, residence, and now an event venue. Owners, Greg and Tina King, worked to revamp the building while preserving its natural state and historical aspect. It was of optimal importance to the couple to make minimal changes. They were both impressed with the structure of the building with it being built so long ago, there weren’t too many changes needed, Tina shared. Updated appliances made the space suitable for a venue, but also remained packed rich with history and elegance. Tina spoke with a lady who remembered riding the train to the station in her youth. They both agreed there is joy in looking forward to memories to come that will be made within the building. The space has three separate rooms that can be opened up into each other, for one large space. There is a quaint upstairs space for pre-ceremony preparation The building alone allows for minimal decor, emphasizing the natural beauty of the architecture and design. Greg and Tina look forward to offering up the space for weddings, as well as family gatherings and other events. Brandon and Brianna's love story started when they met through mutual friends. Traveling is something that the couple loves to do together. They were engaged in New Mexico, so a destination wedding only made sense, Brianna shared. “My parents own a venue and would have had to limit our guest size if we had stayed and done our wedding in Waco.”, and the ability to open the invite to everyone on their guest list, led them to the decision to wed abroad. Not wanting to dwell on the little details, the couple decided on Sandals Ochi in Jamaica to get married. They worked with Bambi Eskew through Allen Samuels House of Travel who coordinated their whole 3-day adventure to becoming husband and wife. “I am a planner, on certain things, but planning a wedding was not bringing me joy,” Brianna said. “Bambi was such a blessing to us.” Working with Allen Samuels House of Travel, the couple did not handle any travel arrangements, yet were able to direct all concerns of themselves and guests to Bambi. “I did not want to chance photography, so I asked around for photographers who would travel,” Brianna said. “Holly and Daniel Perez of Jack and June Photography came highly recommended to us.” It became very personal when they realized Holly and Daniel were a part of their church in Waco. The couple was thrilled to have them journey to Jamacia to capture their day. After the wedding, the couple hosted a hiking adventure for their guests. A catamaran cruise that included snorkeling and hiking up Duns River Falls in Jamacia allowed for quality time with everyone. Brianna said, “It was a 3-day event, basically a party, rather than a traditional 12-hour wedding,” Even amidst COVID worries, Brianna knew that even if it was only Brandon and her in the chapel in Jamacia, that was how she wanted to begin their lives together. Brandon ensured her through doubts, that even if no one showed up they would still be getting married. To keep it personal when far from home, Brianna brought small, airline-friendly gifts for her guests. As well as allowed her friend of Red Couch Collaborative to assist in décor pieces. “We made sure to give the DJ a list of songs, from walking down the aisle to the last song played,” Brianna said. “The whole time it was exactly what Brandon and I wanted.” When planning, a trustworthy travel agent is essential. “I called Bambi for so many little things, and I know my guests did the same,” Brianna shared. Seeking an experience while placing the forefront mindset that this was about Brandon and Brianna starting a life together, Brianna feels that choosing somewhere that fully embodied the couple was the best decision they made to begin their marriage. “We wanted to be surrounded by family and friends that would make it fun, and that’s exactly what we got,” Brianna shared. “I 10/10 recommend a destination wedding!” Article contributed by: Kennedy Doskocil | Photography: Jack and June Photography
