GROW UP. TRADE UP. Kids grow fast, so many of our retailers ease the burden on parents with a Kids' Bike Trade Up Program. Bring in your used Trek kids’ bike within a specified amount of time along with a receipt and the shop will give you 50% of that bike’s original purchase price off of a new kids' bike. Your used kids' bike will typically be donated, extending its life. Participating retailers only.
HEIGHT DETERMINES SIZE For the sake of this guide, we’ve made size recommendations based on average heights by age. Of course, some kids will be more comfortable on a bike outside the recommended size for their age if they’re taller or shorter than average. On kids’ bikes, as sizes go up, the wheel size gets bigger, too. Your retailer is always there to help.

Start with balance Learning to ride starts with working on balance. The best way to get your little one moving is on a super-fun Kickster balance bike. A brighter pasture
It was 3:00 Saturday morning when the painters arrived. The factory was dark and silent, save for a faint hum from the warming lights and a mysterious glow in the long hallway beside the Project One paint booths, where five bright white heifers stood stoically waiting for their first coat. It’s safe to say Trek’s founders couldn’t have imagined our most talented artists would arrive in the early-morning darkness—on a weekend—to find the likeness of a farm animal in place of the bike frames they’re used to working with. Or maybe they could have. Trek began in a barn, after all, and it’s safe to say cows still outnumber full-time residents in our hometown of Waterloo, Wisconsin. The cows stared placidly at the painters, their broad sides a blank canvas. The painters approached cautiously, perhaps imagining these plastic replicas would startle and come to life with a kick in this eerie hour. The painters had one simple directive: make them awesome. And that’s exactly what they did. We know what you’re thinking. “But…why?” The idea was sparked only days before the world descended on our backyard for the first-ever UCI Waterloo Cyclocross Cup. We wanted to do something special for the estimated 10 million homes set to tune in around the globe—something that would represent our home state’s farming roots, show the world that we know how to party, and give the 10,000 fans expected to join us in Waterloo a reason (other than the Secret Bar in the woods) to seek out the far corners of the UCI course. They were as big of a hit as we’d hoped. Spectators sought them out like geo-caches. They posed with them, ’grammed them, climbed them, and at least one person tried to milk them. The following week, we loaded the Project One herd into the back of a truck, carted them to a NICA high school mountain bike race we hosted on our private factory trails, and hid them in the woods. Why? Because we like it when riders smile, and nothing prompts a smile like coming around a bend in the singletrack and confronting a bright pink cow.
And, in the end, that’s the real purpose of this herd. They’re funny, they’re weird, and they’re works of art painted by the same hands that paint our custom Project One bikes. But a cow needs to graze, and we’d like to find them a new pasture. Each of our five Project One cows is up for grabs for a $10,000 donation to the National Interscholastic Cycling Association.

500 new bikes donated in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the Northern California wildfires to those who needed theirs replaced. While a bicycle cannot replace all that was lost, it’s an excellent tool with which to explore new beginnings. Four new DreamBikes locations. Madison, WI (2nd location); Calumet City, IL; Rochester, NY; and Knoxville, TN, all welcomed new DreamBikes locations this past year. These stores will provide paid career training opportunities and quality bicycles in these communities for years to come. Three days of the PlacesForBikes Conference. Trek and PeopleForBikes were proud to host the inaugural PlacesForBikes conference in Madison, WI, this past June. The annual conference is the leading bicycle infrastructure leadership conference in the US. PlacesForBikes is committed to changing the way Americans move throughout their cities and communities. Two new leagues join the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). In 2017, NICA welcomed New Jersey and North Carolina to their rapidly expanding roster of participating states. Today, over 14,000 student-athletes compete for 769 teams in 21 leagues across 20 states, making mountain biking America’s fastest growing high school sport. One dollar is making a huge difference.
