Sometimes inspiration can come from unexpected places, like a tiny gelato shop nestled between the mountains in Boulder,
Colorado. When my husband and I stumbled upon this small store on a recent trip, what stuck with me most was not the
gelato—even though it was delicious—but a simple promise
written on their shop window. It read, “Our mission is to make you the best gelato you’ve ever tasted.” It was a pledge to give their customers the very best.
For over 15 years, I have had the same focus with Trek Travel, to give our guests the best vacation they’ve ever experienced.
It's why we guarantee almost all of our dates to run whether it’s one person or 12. It's why we include the industry’s best bikes.
It's why we were voted a World's Best Tour Operator by Travel + Leisure. And it’s why we thoughtfully consider every detail
of every trip from exceptional rides and cultural experiences to unforgettable meals and extraordinary accommodations.
I'm excited to say our newest trips in the pages that follow live
up to this focus. We've curated the very best cycling vacations in
Scotland, Palm Springs, Alaska and Provence, just to name a few. So join us in exploring the world in the best way we know how: from the seat of a bicycle. Enjoy the ride!

Be Seen John Burke, CEO of Trek Bicycles Trek President John Burke is something of a dedicated cyclist. While he puts in around 6,000 miles annually on some of the world’s most beautiful roads, his favorite ride is the 22.4 miles from his home in Madison, Wisconsin to Trek’s headquarters in Waterloo. The route is classic Midwestern beautiful— rolling farmland, red barns and cornfields and lookout vistas where you can see for miles. For most of the ride, especially in the summer, you’ll likely see more cyclists and farm animals than vehicles. But there’s a precarious 2-mile stretch before getting out of Madison with an unnerving number of vehicles. Here, and
on sections like this around the world, visibility is a major concern.
brightest tail lights weren’t effective in sunlight.
Two years ago, while working in San Diego, John Burke noticed a cyclist on a daytime commute. Even though the sun was shining, the commuter had his rear tail light blinking.
Back in Waterloo, Trek began working on a tail light that would increase the visibility of cycling during sunlight hours.
BACK IN WATERLOO, TREK BEGAN WORKING ON A TAIL LIGHT THAT WOULD INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF CYCLING DURING SUNLIGHT HOURS.
It was a moment of inspiration: Daytime lights, like those used on cars and motorcycles, were an outstanding way to help cyclists be more visible on the road. The problem was that even cycling’s
The result is Flare R, a tail light engineered for daylight use. Flare R is ultralightweight, durable, rechargeable and it’s equipped with optics and flash patterns proven to be the most eye-catching for drivers. Most importantly, it’s visible from over 2km away in daylight. Every cyclist, on every road, needs to be seen. This includes early-morning commuters all around the world, cyclists training in the mountains, children in neighborhoods and even professional racers.
AT TREK TRAVEL , safety is of the utmost importance on every bike ride.
That’s why every bike is equipped with both front and rear daytime lights and every guide is a 100% Trek Travel certified mechanic. This means that you’ll be riding with professionals ready to handle any situation.

Stories from our travelers
"I don't have to think, I don't have to plan, I don't have to worry. I just show up to some fabulous and beautiful location in the world, grab some snacks and get on my bike. As a bonus, a superb meal is put in front of me at least once a day. 10 years and 13 trips later, I am still a huge fan!"
"I have always wanted to go to Italy. You could not have dropped me in a better place with better people. Our guides Sam and Sheila were terrific. They took superb care of us. Our whole group got along very well. The biking, food and wine were fantastic. We will definitely do this another time."

"Wow, what a great idea and wonderful, unexplored, unspoiled territory. It felt like a secret Tuscany, before it gets overrun by tourists and other cycling ventures. Good tarmac, low traffic, lots to explore." - SOHAIL, PORTUGAL
- LYNN, IRELAND
"My trip was the best vacation of my life. I expected it to be good (friends highly recommended it), but it was even better. I spent quite a bit for the trip, but feel like I drastically underpaid." - JOSH, PYRENEES SEA TO SEA
"When you advertise as the cycling trip of a lifetime, you are not kidding...I was able to ride to places that I had only been in my dreams, and on this trip, those dreams came true in a big way." - RICK, CLASSIC CLIMBS OF THE TOUR
"This sudden change in fitness was all because of TT’s Ride Camp, which you so wonderfully and cheerfully manage and conduct. I’m sitting here today on a rainy morning in PA thinking that it doesn’t matter how slowly I climb Orient, Soller, Puig, or even Sa Calobra. It truly is all good." - JIM, MALLORCA RIDE CAMP

AN ODE
Thoreau and Muir spoke of cathedrals, refuges, sanctuaries and temples;
Home to bison, bighorn, grizzly bear and salmon; We walk in the footsteps of Eastern Cherokee, Piegan Blackfeet, Southern Paiute and Eastern Shoshone;
While the springtime scent of basin sagebrush, blue
spruce, flowering lupines and rhododendron paint the breeze;
Our hands reach out to grasp texture: Wingate sandstone, polished granite, Madison limestone, tholeiitic basalt;
Socks removed, toes dig into Appalachian clay, plunge into glacial run-off, wriggle in the desert sun;
Read names: Grand Prismatic, Going to the Sun, Weeping Wall, Wizard Island;
These places are gifted by our ancestors and borrowed from our grandchildren;
These places are a legacy, a home, a story; These places are cherished and celebrated; These places: our National Parks.

Top of the tables Our vacations feature incredible meals in stunning locales around the world. So, when we asked our Trip Design Manager, Meagan, which meals are unforgettable, she said it’s often more than just the food that goes into a meal, but the experience as a whole. Out of all our destinations, these are her top five favorite dining experiences.
1
Al fresco dining with a sunset view Day 1 | Ojai to Santa Barbara
Featuring a sumptuous dinner of ever-changing, locally sourced (many of the ingredients coming from the grounds itself ) California cuisine, The Oak overlooks sweeping mountain vistas and 200-year-old Oak trees for a view as ravishing as the meal. PG 78
2
Bask in Barolo Day 4 | Piedmont
Explore local bistros, sip Barolo from the source, and indulge in a Piedmont staple, Brasato al Barolo, or a plate of traditional Tajarin with butter, sage and sprinkled with shaved Alba White Truffle—a prized ingredient of the region.

“...it was simply the most unbelievable, fantastic and memorable meal of my entire year, with one of the best dishes I have ever tasted." - LARRY OLMSTEAD, WRITER, FORBES
3
Nestle deep in the Great Smoky Mountains Day 3 | Blackberry Farm
A magical night spent gathered around a campfire for drinks and appetizers as a Southern Appalachian historian recounts tales of local lore, history and legend followed by a family style dinner on the banks of sparkling Hesse Creek.
4 The beginning of a great dining experience at Blackberry Farm
A private chef, live music and dancing Day 5 | Barcelona Villa
Raise a glass to what is nothing short of an enchanting evening under the Catalonian stars. Here, you’ll dine on sumptuous Argentinian BBQ prepared by your private chef and dance the night away to the rhythms of Chichi Valdes.
5
"Meal of the Year" at Assirto in Italy Day 5 | Cinque Terre
Home of Forbes Magazine "Meal of the Year," Larry Olmstead described it as, “Simply the most unbelievable, fantastic and memorable meal of my entire year, with one of the best dishes I have ever tasted.” With each delectable dish and perfectly paired wine, Luca, the host, reveals the history, tradition and craft behind each recipe making it a meaningful meal to remember.
