YOUR COLLEGE:
CHOOSE THE COLLEGE THAT’S RIGHT FOR YOU
YOUR COMMUNITY
Like neighbourhoods within a larger city, Trent’s colleges are communities that promote learning, embrace diversity, and lead to friendships that last a lifetime. Made up of classrooms, lounges, faculty offices, dining facilities, residences, and more, colleges are places where students can make meaningful connections between each other, and with professors and staff. All Trent students, in all years, are part of a college community, which brings together a unique blend of traditions, events, workshops, places to hangout, and support services – all designed to help you experience a true sense of belonging.
CATHARINE PARR TRAILL COLLEGE
LADY EATON COLLEGE
All hail Traill, the college on the hill! One of Trent’s original colleges and the only college located in Peterborough’s downtown, Traill is a community of forward-thinking and creative Traillblazers. As a hub for both undergraduate and graduate studies, our college brings together students of all years of study to create an environment where diversity and the blending of ideas thrive.
At Lady Eaton, we are known for our creative energy, passion for our local community and commitment to self-expression. Feeling artistic? We also have a long tradition in the arts and are known across campus as the “music college.” As the home for many international students coming to Trent from across the country and overseas, we also know that with compassion, a willingness to share and learn from each other, and self-confidence, we can make a positive impact on the world.

CHAMPLAIN COLLEGE

At Champlain College, we know the importance of balancing academic excellence with a loud and proud atmosphere. We’re the oldest college on the Symons Campus, which means we’ve got a lot of tradition and heart. With an emphasis on active living and global thinking, our “Chamily” values discovery, adventure, reflection, and engagement in all aspects of university life, whether it’s in the classroom or on the ice at our annual broomball tournament.
OTONABEE COLLEGE

PETER GZOWSKI COLLEGE The youngest college at Trent University, Gzowski brings together different ways of thinking, creates and shapes leaders in environmental sustainability, commerce, and honours Indigenous traditions. Here at Gzowski, we explore how we speak together and unite to bridge the gaps between different academic and social interests. With interests ranging from Bay Street to the Boreal Forest, our students see and discuss the world from multiple perspectives.
“The colleges provided me a home filled with opportunities to get involved, and grow as a student and a leader within the community. This inclusive environment is so welcoming and encourages students to discover their best self.”
trentu.ca/colleges/gzowski
Our Otonabee College community captures the spirit of the river that we’re named after. In Ojibwe, Otonabee means “river that beats like a heart.” Like the river, we are a community known for being dynamic, ever changing, and unrelenting. Here at OC, we also have a strong connection to both the arts and sciences, and our students know that by looking ahead, we can keep up with and create change in our fast-paced world while staying true to ourselves. trentu.ca/colleges/otonabee

BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE (B.Sc.)
Ancient Greek and Roman Studies will expose you to the foundation of modern western civilization, and provide you with the knowledge to understand why and how we function as a society today. Explore issues of state and empire, warfare, class struggles, the economy, religion, gender, cultural heritage, and the genius of the human spirit – issues as relevant today as they were in antiquity.

You will learn to see humankind as complex social and biological beings with the capacity for language and culture. Drawing on insights from archaeology, and cultural, linguistic, and biological anthropology, you will explore the extraordinary variability in human adaptation, organization and belief, and how the common circumstances we face unite us.
Archaeology is the interdisciplinary study of the human past through the examination of material and biological remains, including artifacts, human and animal bones, architecture, and plants. You will learn the field methods and laboratory techniques used to study these materials, as well as theories archaeologists use to understand the ancient cultures and past civilizations of the Americas, Europe and the pre-Classical and Classical Mediterranean world. This exciting interdisciplinary program combines courses from Anthropology, Ancient Greek and Roman Studies, and the sciences.
Without biochemistry, there is no life. Working in state-ofthe-art facilities, you will gain a solid grounding in chemistry, biochemistry, genetics and cell biology. This program prepares you both technically and intellectually for advanced studies in this dynamic and ever-changing discipline.
The study of biology probes the entire diversity of life, from molecules to global ecosystems. Biology is central to understanding the most pressing of today’s concerns, from managing the spread of infectious diseases to feeding a planet of seven billion people. Through lectures, labs and fieldwork on Trent’s ecologically diverse campus, you will learn the underlying theories and concepts of biology and apply them to real questions and challenges, gaining the knowledge to solve the problems we face every day.
A growing awareness of how the different levels of life interact has brought together the disciplines of biology and medicine and added to our understanding of how these interactions affect health and disease. In this unique program, the only one of its kind in Ontario, you will study a diverse range of medical and health-related topics (such as cell biology, anatomy, and biochemistry) to better understand how the many levels and approaches to health and medicine are complementary, and you will learn to apply the principles to assess and solve problems as they relate to realworld health issues.

MATHEMATICS (B.Sc.)
MATHEMATICAL ECONOMICS (B.Sc.)
MATHEMATICAL PHYSICS (B.Sc.)
MEDIA STUDIES (B.A.)
TRENT ONLINE
More than simply the study of numbers, Mathematics is the exploration of abstract mental universes and the application of pure reason. In this program you will learn about the fundamental structure of the universe and the limits of human reason. Develop a new way of looking at the world around you by learning about the systems and structures that underpin all of nature.
The study of Mathematical Economics helps us understand complex and ever-changing economic dilemmas by examining the production and dissemination of scarce resources. Combining core courses in economics with mathematics, you will learn how to analyze games of strategy, bargaining and auctions (game theory), how to make sense of complex economic data (econometrics), how to maximize profit and minimize costs (optimization) and how to maximize happiness (welfare economics).
An understanding of Mathematical Physics is essential to understanding many topics, from celestial mechanics to the issue of global climate change. Physics is the most fundamental of the natural sciences, and mathematics is the language of physics. This program develops, in parallel, experience with the central theoretical frameworks of physics and facility with the mathematical methods that form the foundation and tools of physics.
Media Studies is a dynamic field that’s vital for understanding the mediated environment that we inhabit every day. In Trent’s Media Studies program, you’ll learn to navigate this environment by marrying theory and practice. You’ll study the influence of advertising and ideology, the political economy of media corporations, and the principles of multimedia design, for instance, but you’ll also gain hands-on experience by fabricating 3D printed objects, circuit bending, shooting on Super 8mm and 16mm film, creating fake social media profiles, and more.
A world-class education awaits…right at your fingertips. With Trent Online you have a front row seat to an engaging learning environment and online community – filled with opportunities for you to interact with your professors and your fellow classmates. Through Trent Online, you have access all year round to a wide range of programs, courses and content, taught by leading faculty, who make the online learning environment more engaging through multi-modal learning options, like video, text, simulations, interactive instruction, virtual gaming, and more.
