WOMEN ... AN HONOUR Every woman is unique. Every woman has an identity. Their star has to be unleashed. I have always agreed the fact that “A person is what he or she thinks.” The mind is the most powerful organ, the idea generator as well as the shock absorber. We the womanhood though in small numbers have touched peoples heart in the past and still on the verge of influencing the society. In our country where women still respect the fact that men are most powerful, yet creep in all arenas and try to tuck up their shoulders at par with them. I find average percentage of the women are pretty smarter ,clear in their vision, profound in their thoughts ,likes and beliefs, more independent and professional too. Though in some parts ignorance still rules .Many a women have still not entered the inside a school campus, nor stepped in any government office. They don’t know how the constitution was framed nor to handle a simple hand phone. This lack of up gradation is very dangerous .During my tenure as the NOM Coordinator of JCI India, I have a keen interest to see that we the Jcrts and the lady Jcs use this platform to upgrade and update ourselves. I wish the Jcrts of zone 22 to take up higher level projects under the able guidance of Dr.Hema and enlighten the members with enriching knowledge and creating a class of your own .My special recognitions and wishes to La Femme create an impact in the minds of the readers. GOD BLESS! JCI.Sen.Sheetaal Gandhi NOM Coordinator Lady Jc & Jcrt wing, JCI INDIA.

WANTED SUPERWOMAN BRIDE!!! GOOD LOOKING ,HOMELY, HEALTHY,EDUCATED AND EMPLOYED GIRLS.

LOOKING FOR A GIRL WHO READS ,LISTENS TO MUSIC,IS A GOOD CONVERSATIONALIST, IS ATTRACTIVE,CAN ENJOY A FINE GLASS OF WINE AND GETS ALONG WELL WITH MY MUM.

RICH GIRL WANTED WHO WILL LOOK AFTER PARENTS WELL. PATHETIC is the bridegroom who hunts for such SUPERWOMANS!!! A woman can be all the above but still falter on the approval of her husband. Of course men today are all for women's independenceand individuality but it can go only that far.Men these days want someone who is working, confident, independent, likes to go out but at the same time she should be mindful of traditions, know the importance of family and realise that there are times when she might have to let her wishes and aspirations take a back seat. A mix of modernity and tradition is what is sought toady! There is a fine line between being assertive and agressive, being independent and dominating, between enjoying a glass of wine or two and downing it for most men. A career is fine for woman only if it does not interfere with the home front. At the end of the day, she is asked to balance both work and home perfectly, and if not, then,it is work that gets sacrificed.A lot of men ,it seems , seek a juggling act from women that they themselves are incapable of.The expectations of the society and the immediate circle of friends and family are a major factor, that make most men wary of a liberated woman. So what really passes as acceptable behaviour in a modern woman according to men? While the woman has evolved with the times the majority of the men have been unable to keep pace with her. However it would be unfair to tar all men with the same brush. For every young man caught between the old world and the new, there are those who kept pace, with the rate at which women have evolved.Be it the product of their upbringing or a fiercely independent viewpoint, these men believe that what matters most is the equation with the partner. It is a slow process but it has started, and men are looking at the changing world around them and trying to come to terms. Well lets just wait and see.

Do I need Fitness Training? If any of these six goals you want, you need Personal Training. 1. I want to lose more body fat and tone my muscles more than I have been. 2. I want to improve my diet and nutrition. 3. I want to get rid of my aging problems. 4. I want to get as much out of my workouts as I possibly can and not just “go through the motions. 5. I want more motivation and be more consistent in my workouts. 6. I want to have more energy, endurance, and enthusiasm. 7. I want to look better and feel better.

Frequently Asked Questions How can I lose weight? If you want to lose weight while improving your fitness and health, there are 3 methods that - when effectively combined - just about always work. Those 3 weight loss methods are: 1. smart exercise 2. clean diet 3. proper supplementation Although every one of these 3 methods can work by itself, it's the combination of the 3 that's the real secret to fast, effective weight loss that lasts. Plus, by using all three at the same time, you don't have to be as "perfect" as you would if you used only one. For instance, a diet mistake (like an extra piece of birthday cake) can easily be fixed with a slight adjustment to the intensity of your next workout! Smart Exercise: "Smart" exercise is exercise that provides the maximum amount of benefit in the least amount of time. It's short, sweet, and usually fairly intense but it'll burn a ton of fat and tone up your body quickly. Clean Diet: You're on a clean diet when you cut out most or all of the junk food and eat lots of healthy whole foods - including fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, whole grains, lean proteins, and good fats. This eating approach is the only one proven to work every time! o Try to eat 5-6 small, balanced meals per day. Proper Supplementation: Supplementing your diet is the easiest and most effective way to make sure your body has everything it needs to drop fat and not lose muscle tissue in the process. Due to the low nutrient content of many of our foods (including fruits and vegetables grown in poor soils) it's almost impossible to get everything you need from diet alone.

How can I build more muscle? Smart Exercise: The key to getting bigger, stronger muscles is to workout hard but briefly, with medium to medium-heavy weights. Basically, you want to quickly and efficiently "tear down" your muscle fibers and then give them ample time to rebuild. And remember, too much exercise - especially aerobic exercise - can make it very difficult to put on muscle mass and also loses existing muscle mass. Clean Diet: To build muscle, you must consume more calories than your body uses during the day. And to build muscle without packing on a ton of body fat, you've got to eat the "right kind of calories" - lots of lean proteins, whole grains, veggies, and healthy fats. Cut out all the junk food, fried food, sugar, alcohol, etc. and you'll be well on your way to a better-looking, healthier, more-muscular body. Proper Supplementation: The right supplements serve two functions when it comes to muscle-building. First, they help keep you from becoming "over-trained," which is a common problem for many over- zealous weightlifters. Second, they can speed up the rate at which you pack on muscle mass. It's important to realize though that only a handful of supplements have been proven to really work. Here they are: whey protein, High-Quality Multivitamin/Multi mineral Formula, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), L- Glutamine, Creatine Monohydrate. Do I need to do strength training (weight training)? Despite what you may have heard, strength training should be a major part of just about everyone's fitness or weight loss program. In fact, in terms of fat loss, it's probably more important than aerobic exercise. Why? Here's the "simple" answer: the more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns - even when you're not doing anything! One of the major reasons why dieters consistently fail to keep the weight off is because, every time they dramatically cut their calories, they lose significant amounts of muscle tissue. In fact, on a typical lowcalorie diet about 25 percent of all weight loss is from muscle loss. If you're like 99.9% of dieters, you're really trying to lose fat, not just "weight" (and especially not lean muscle tissue). Muscle tissue is highly active. Every pound burns about 35 calories per day, just to maintain itself. This "maintenance" process is a big part of your

natural metabolism, or calorie-burning system. When you lose muscle your metabolism slows down (often permanently!) and it becomes harder and harder to lose weight and keep it off. So what's the solution? First of all, never go on a low-calorie diet. They simply don't work (for more reasons than the one stated above). Secondly, begin a basic strength training program which involves working all the major muscles in the body at least once or twice per week. The easiest way to add muscle is with weights and weight machines but you can also use your own bodyweight, rubber fitness bands, etc. If you're a beginner make sure to consult with a personal trainer who can teach you proper strength training/ weight lifting technique before you begin. Also, most people only need to perform strength training about 3 times per week, 40 minutes per session, in order to see good results quickly. In this country, 10 million people have osteoporosis and another 80 million have low bone mass. 80 percent of these are women. Osteoporosis is linked to more than 1.5 million fractures. These can lead to lifetime disability and early death. After age 35, women lose 1-3% of their bone calcium stores per year (about 10% per decade), and after menopause, the loss increases to 2-5% annually. Women lose a third of their strength and 40% of their muscle mass between ages 20 and 70. Fat increases. The increase in fat, decrease in lean muscle, and corresponding weight gain lead to slower metabolism and poor glucose metabolism, and raise the risk for diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, and low self-esteem. How can strength training help? Let’s count the ways. 1. Avoid or reverse the loss of muscle over time. A standard strength-training program can increase muscle mass by about 3 pounds in 8 weeks! 2. Avoid or reverse the rate of metabolic slowdown. These 3 extra pounds of muscle mass can increase the metabolic rate by 7% and increase daily calorie needs by 15%. 3. Increase bone mineral density in as little as 4 months. 4. Improve glucose metabolism which is associated with adult onset diabetes. 5. Decrease resting blood pressure. Blood pressure will decrease even more if you combine strength training with aerobic exercise. 6. Reduce back pain. 80% of people have low back problems at some point. A good strength program for the lumbar spine has been shown to reduce back pain significantly. 7. Reduce the pain of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. 8. On a more “whole person level, strength training helps us feel better, look better, and function better in our daily lives, which leads to greater self-confidence, reduced risk of injury, and better balance.

Top 10 benefits women receive from strength training: 1) Increased Metabolic Rate- adding muscle increases our metabolism naturally. 2) Increasing and Restoring Bone Density- prevent and fight osteoporosis by building strong bones. 3) Increased Lean Muscle Mass- each pound of lean muscle mass burns 35-50 calories per day. 4) Injury Prevention- a solid foundation strengthens our bones, ligaments, and tendons. 5) Improved Balance- strong leg and core muscles help stabilize us. 6) Decreased Risk of Coronary Disease- strength training can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels. 7) Aids Rehabilitation and Recovery- the best way to strengthen and recover from an injury is to slowly build your strength around the injured area. 8) Enhanced Performance in Sports, Exercise and Life In General- climbing stairs, carrying the kids, or walk ing with your spouse becomes more enjoyable. 9) Aging gracefully- strong muscles build a strong body. Strength training and fitness can help keep aging bodies in well-working condition. 10) Feeling Better and Looking Better- strength training reduces overall body fat, it tones our muscles and it builds confidence. These top 10 benefits all come for free when you begin a proper strength training routine. Be sure to check with your doctor before beginning any new fitness program. CFT. Pretty Woman... .“True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.” – Audrey Hepburn “Look man, she’s so pretty !!” …”That girl is so gorgeous !! “....These are the words that we usually hear from men and even women saying in hush words when they see a beautiful young woman. But what is it that actually defines the beauty of a woman…Is it her skin colour? ..Is it her silky hair ?..Is it her dress?..Is it her figure?. Indians are always obsessed with fair skin and this obsession is prevalent everywhere from matrimonial ads to TV commercials and even in film industry which always prefer the fair and skinny actresses. This obsession is so rampant that even at the time of visiting a new born baby and the mother at the hospital, one of the questions that people frequently ask is “Is the baby fair ?”. The reason behind this unfair obsession of Indians has its roots in the Indian culture and history. Historically, the lower caste people were dark and were considered inferior by the fairer upper caste people. In that era, dark complexion meant humiliation and discrimination. Later, when colonialism started with the advent of Portuguese, Dutch or the British who were fairer and who once ruled India also considered the darker Indians inferior. So power was tantamount to fair skin in those days. Some even reason that dark meant too much exposure to sun which meant lack of wealth or poor. On the other hand, the fair meant rich and affluent hence people treated them better. This ubiquitous appeal to the fair skin continued and is further promoted by media these days. Out of thin air, a girl wins a reality show just because she applied the fairness cream. A multi millionaire is attracted to a girl only because she became fair skinned by applying the fairness cream. These are a few among the myriad of vacuous and absurd tv commercials that we see every day. Even worse, all the Indian serials and posters are all filled with fairer and skinnier women. These are nothing but a part of the tawdry scandal by the cosmetic companies to make quick buck out of this rampant predilection for fair skin in Indian society. Unfortunately, many teenagers also try to imitate the zero size fair skinned models and people spend enormous amounts of money and time on plastic surgeries to attain the so called ‘beautiful’ look. However, the winds of change have been felt. Kangana Ranaut, a famous bollywood diva refused to endorse a fairness cream which earned her accolades from everyone. Actor, Nandita Das came up with campaign “Dark is Beautiful” which was yet another impressive effort. Education is one of the means by which can eradicate such harsh prejudices from society. People, especially the younger generation should be taught that discrimination on the basis of just physical appearances especially colour is something that is unacceptable and unethical. Youth and children should be encouraged to be comfortable and confident with their skin. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Women are and should be beautiful. But physical appearance is just a small aspect of it and it is no way related to fairness. Real beauty of a woman lies in her character and confidence. Real men don’t love the most beautiful woman in the world but they love the woman who can make their world the most beautiful. The society should come out of this deep rooted unfair bias and work together for a world which celebrates beauty beyond colour. Jc. Anna Kachappally

ROLE OF PARENTS The family of Joseph and Mary, with their exemplary life, brought blessing not only to their family but to the entire world. On th eother hand, the family of Isaac and Rebekah not only made Jacob their son,an evil man,but also brought tragedy to the entire family because of the evil character of Rebekah. Parents need to be role models and first teachers to their children inorder to build a good amily.Children aren't acquiring basic moral values nowadays because today's parents are actually poor role models. The moral values of young people have declined considerably since the time they were young. The rise of celebrity culture and weakening family bonds are undermining traditional moral values among young people.Adults are to be blamed for failing to engage with children and being too eager to criticize their behaviour rather than just intervening and helping them to navigate the challenges of modern life. Adults need to take more responsibility for the young people around them. This is true also when it comes to teaching values to children.Parents play a vital role in shaping the character of children and youth.Unfortunately,it is easier to criticize children than to invest in them, and it is the children most in need of positive role models who are becoming disconnected from their communities and wider society. PARENTS DO REALISE THAT: CHILDREN NEED YOUR TIME AND CORRECT YOUR CHILDREN. Parents must realise that children need their time, love and care more than their money. It is true, money is a must for living, but equally true that going after money adversely affects personal and family life.Loneliness is not the only cause for the unhealthy behaviour of today's youth. There are other factors that parents need to be aware of.Comparatively, today's teenagers are growing physically, emotionally and sexually faster than their parentd did:they have access to internet and mobile phones.Their new -but often undisciplined freedom to access these technologies can often lead them to misuse them, to show that they are different from others,or to show they are adults, though in reality they are searching for their identity. In the task of guiding children to proper maturity and growth, at times harsh decisions need to be taken to correct errant children or teenagers. Role models are human, they make mistakes.Parents who admit to their mistakes learn from them and astrive to better themselves and can be powerful influences for their children. The Bible says," YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW" (Gal 6:7) Jcrt. Shamini Bitty

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS A group of 500 people were attending a seminar.Suddenly, the speakerdecided to do a group activity. She started giving each person a baloonl. Each person was then asked to write their name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room. The people were then let into that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written on it within five minutes.Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos. At the end of five minutes no one could find their own balloon. Then, the speaker asked each person to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the person whose name was written on it.Within minutes everyone had their own balloon. The speaker then began:"This is happening in our lives.Everyone is franctically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is.Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people.Give them their happiness;you will get your own happiness. And this is the purpose of human life...the pursuit of happiness."
