Hiring a space at Trestle Arts Base We know how important it is to find the right place to hold your special event and with our theatrical experience in our unique building, a former chapel, we believe we have something unusual to offer.

The spaces we offer: The Theatre Our black box theatre is the perfect blank canvas, which can be themed for your event. This flexible space is licensed for up to 125 people (subject to configuration) and is fully equipped sound and lighting equipment.

An hour free of charge immediately before the start of your event for setup

•

Up to 3 members of staff to assist with your event and to run our café/bar

•

Exclusive use of our café area (depending on your numbers)

Clearing away: all we ask that you take away with you whatever you bring as quickly as possible after your event finishes. We will do the rest.

•

Use of our light and sound system if required in our standard (but lovely) set up. N.B. If you are using the services of a DJ or live band they will need to provide their own equipment.

•

Use of tables and chairs.

Cost: £81 per hour including VAT for a party or celebration

Examples of Additional Charges We appreciate that you might need something a little unique or extra to make your event extra special. We do everything within our capabilities to make your event go smoothly but some of these extras may incur a charge which we’d like you to be aware of. Examples of these would include catering, removal of fixed seating if required, table hire (if what we have already is not appropriate), hire & hanging of colourful paper lanterns and technical support for additional theatrical lighting and sound.

Catering – Trestle’s café can provide catering and drinks with a fully a licensed bar. POA

•

Technical support to set lights, sound etc. £25 including VAT per hour with a minimum charge of 4 hours

•

Projector £12 per hour

•

Screen £6 per hour

•

Flip chart and paper £12 per session

•

Removing seating and seating rake £200.

As we tailor each of our hires to suit you these are just a guideline of some of the extras. An exact quote will be given on booking and do ask if you need something that isn’t on the listed.

By Car: Trestle Arts Base is a ten minute drive from St Albans City Centre, signposted from the A1081 and A1057, and 10 minutes from junction 22 of M25.

By Train: Trestle Arts Base is 2 miles from St Albans City Station and can be accessed by taxi or bus.

By Bus: Take the S1/S2 Uno bus from St Albans City Centre or Stop B at St Albans City Station, alighting at the second stop on Drakes Drive. Alternatively take the 655 Uno bus between Hatfield and Borehamwood or the S7 Uno bus, alighting at Ashley Road or Hill End Lane.

Frequently asked questions Question: Is there free on site car parking at Trestle?

Answer: Yes for 30 vehicles and is used on a first come first served basis. Please use the postcode AL4 0FJ which will take you to our car park and we respectfully ask that you avoid parking on Russet Drive.

Question: How much notice do you need to ensure I get the date/s I want?

Answer: As much as possible. The earlier you can book the more likely you are to get the date and times you want. However, we specialise in late bookings if the space that you want is available.

Question: Do you offer catering?

Answer: Yes. Our Gallery CafĂŠ is usually open except for Fridays afternoons and Sundays. It is possible to open outside of these days. Please ask for details.

Question: How do I pay?

Answer: Payment for the booking is due in advance on presentation of invoice.

We prefer that you pay by bank transfer as it helps keep banking charges down.

Details are on our invoice. If you do not have internet banking then we accept credit cards, cheques and, of course, cash.

Question: What is your cancellation policy?

Answer: We can hold a room for you on a 1st refusal basis but your booking will not be considered binding until the contract is signed and a deposit is paid. If you cancel then charges apply. Please see our T&C’s for details.

Question: Can I bring my own electrical equipment Answer: Yes, but this must be PAT tested and inspected by the Duty Manager prior to use.

Question: Can I hold an 18th or 21st party at your venue?

Answer: Yes but there are additional conditions on our licence stipulated by St Albans District Council. You will need to have at least 2 SIA door staff which we will arrange and you will be charged at cost and a reasonable number of responsible adults from your party should be present. “Friendship Bond” of £200. This will be returned to you providing no damage occurs or extra cleaning is required. You will need to guarantee a bar take of at least £300.

Question: Do you have kitchen facilities that we can use?

Answer: We do not have kitchen facilities for use to people who do not work for Trestle but there is access to hot water.

Question: Is there anything else I need to know?

Answer: At Trestle we pride ourselves at being as accommodating as possible towards the hirer; we really do want you to enjoy your time here. However, there are terms and conditions which we must draw you attention to and ask you to read them thoroughly. If there is anything that you are unclear about please do call the Venue Manager to discuss.
