The beautiful campus of Trevecca Nazarene University
WELCOME TO TREVECCA The motto of Trevecca Nazarene University is “Esse Quam Videri,” and it means “To Be Rather than to Seem.” In some venues you can fake it. Not in athletics. As a Christian university, Trevecca’s goal is to give the world graduates of integrity whose moral values are solid under pressure. We develop scholar-athletes who desire “to be rather than to seem.” President

2010-2011 SEASON REVIEW Overall: 11-18 (TranSouth 5-11, 6th of 9) TranSouth Tournament: Lost Freed-Hardeman
6
The Trevecca men’s basketball team featured a young lineup for the 2010-2011
season, including five freshmen and six sophomores, with only two juniors and two seniors. The team finished 11-18 overall, and 5-11 in TranSouth play. Nine of the Trojans’ 18 losses were by four points or less.
end of the court, finishing in the Top 5 in the NAIA with 75 steals. France was named to the 2011 All-TranSouth First Team and scored a career-high 43 points in a loss at Martin Methodist, the second most points scored in an NAIA game all season and th e second most points any Trevecca player has scored in a game in the program’s history.
Michael France, a junior from Shelbyville, Tenn., was named the TranSouth Preseason Player of the Year, and did not disappoint. France led the team in scoring and was second in the TranSouth, averaging 18.2 points per game on 48.1% shooting. He also improved on the defensive
Senior Jeremy Dixon finished sixth in the NAIA in threepoint field goal percentage at 44% and averaged 9.2 points and 4 rebounds per game in his final season in purple and white. Sophomore guard Marquise Rudolph averaged 12.4 points per game, good for second on the team, and
2011–2012 MEN’S BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE
added 3.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Rudolph’s numbers, however, surged during conference play, when he averaged 14.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. The Trojans went 6-6 during non-conference play, highlighted by a 67-64 win over the University of the Cumberlands in the Robert Garrett Classic at Moore Gym. Unfortunately, Trevecca was unable to build any kind of momentum after a strong start in TranSouth Conference play. After wins at Mid-Continent and at home over Blue Mountain put the Trojans at 2-0 in league play, Trevecca only managed three more wins over their last 14 conference games to finish sixth in the final league standings. Trevecca’s season came to end with a loss at Freed-Hardeman in the TranSouth Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Camden Jordan, Blake Carden, and Ryan Eilermann were named TranSouth Scholar-Athletes for the 2010-2011 season.

2011-2012 SEASON PREVIEW The Trevecca men’s basketball team enters the 2011-2012 looking for seniors Keith
Morris and Michael France to step up and provide outstanding leadership as Trevecca competes in the TranSouth conference for one final season.
Gone from last year’s team are seniors Jeremy Dixon and Camden Jordan, but a roster that includes eight juniors and seniors returns for Coach Sam Harris, who is entering his 19th season on the Trevecca sideline. Leading the way among the returnees are seniors Michael France and Keith Morris. France is coming off a junior season that earned him Third Team NAIA All-American honors as well as First Team All-TranSouth honors for the second consecutive year. The 6-1 guard from Shelbyville,
Tenn., averaged 18.2 points, four rebounds and nearly three assists per game last season, while shooting better than 48% from the floor and nearly 35% from three-point range. France enters the 2011-2012 season 16th on the all-time Trevecca scoring list with 1,368 points, and he has a legitimate chance to finish his career in the top five. Morris, a 6-7 forward from Franklin, Tenn., has started 53 of 59 games since coming to Trevecca from Lambuth prior to the 2009-2010 season, and has a chance to crack the 1,000-point mark this season. Morris saw his numbers drop from 12.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game two years ago to 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last year. A reversal of that trend would go a long way toward helping the Trojans reach greater heights in the 2011-2012 season. Other team members will contribute. Junior point guard Marquise Rudolph (12.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.6 apg) returns to run the show, having already started 43 games in his two years in Nashville. JP Nyadaro is the Trojans’ leading returning rebounder. The junior from Kenya averaged 5.4 boards per game last season, while also chipping in more than nine points per contest as well. The other returning juniors are guard Peyton Henry (3.0 ppg, 77% FT) and forwards Milos Macura and Pascal Permis. Both Macura and Permis will be counted on to step up this season to provide frontcourt depth. Sophomore guard Blake Carden appeared in 25 games last season, including nine starts, and wants to improve last season’s numbers (2.5 ppg and 1.6 rpg). Among the additions to this year’s roster are three new faces and one that will be familiar to Trojan basketball fans. Sophomore Eric Orr returns to Trevecca, hoping to pick up where he left off when he averaged 7.6 points and 3.3 rebounds as a freshman during the 2005-2006 campaign. The 6-6 Nashville native (Stratford HS) will be counted on for big contributions in the front court for the Trojans this season. Junior Maliek Daniels, a native of Columbus, Ga., comes to Trevecca from Enterprise State (Ala.) Community College, where he averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, and three steals per game, earning him second team all-conference honors. The other two newcomers this year are freshmen Robbie Barber of Scott County HS in Georgetown, Ky., and Steven Burrows of West Oaks HS in Orlando, Fla.

2011–2012 MEN’S BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE
The Trojans’ season opens with an exhibition at Tennessee State on Nov. 1, with a homecoming matchup with Michigan-Dearborn only four days later. Also on the nonconference slate this year, home-and-home matchups with Lindsey Wilson, Harris-Stowe State, and Fisk. The Trojans will also be playing in the Nazarene Thanksgiving Classic, taking on host Olivet Nazarene University and then either MidAmerica Nazarene or Southern Nazarene. The 16-game TranSouth conference schedule tips off January 5 at Moore Gym against Mid-Continent and wraps up at Martin Methodist on February 25.

A 1978 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, Harris starred alongside his brother Steve Harris, while playing for former Trevecca Hall of Fame coach Frank Wilson at Olivet. After graduation Harris was an assistant coach at Judson College in Elgin, Ill. He inherited a program that was 15-110 during the previous six years and by his third year had led the team to an 18-10 record. In his fourth year, Judson finished 24-7, winning a district championship and earning a berth in the NCCAA National Tournament.

In 1984, Harris moved to NCAA Division-I Central Florida as an assistant coach and then moved to Valparaiso University as an assistant before taking the head coaching position at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa., in 1988. Harris took a program that had lost 82 of its previous 88 games and won a conference championship in his third season, going 15-10 and winning the MAC Coach of the Year award.
