The City of the Arts is home to many artists from around the world.

From visual artists and musicians to dancers and performers, Port Moody is brimming with creative talent.

It’s also got shopping districts to suit every style: NewPort Village, Suter Brook and Moody Centre are busy places that residents and visitors patronize.

Shop Local Port Moody promotes local, independent businesses in the community on its website (shoplocalportmoody.ca). The volunteer-driven society, currently led by president Taryn Barker of The Little Butcher, boasts more than 40 members.

As for entertainment and recreation, Rocky Point Park, which looks over the Port Moody Inlet and toward the mountains, is the spot where most events and festivals take place such as RibFest, Golden Spike Days and Canada Day.

It’s also where you can grab a handmade treat at Rocky Point Ice Cream and rent a kayak or paddleboard at Rocky Point Kayak.

And, if you’re thirsty, you can cross Murray Street to enjoy a beverage along Brewers Row — a tourism destination for the city that includes Yellow Dog, Twin Sails, Parkside, Moody, Bakery and the newly opened Rewind, a 1980s spin-off venture by the owners at Parkside.
