Birthday FAQ’s
Birthday Party Frequently Asked Questions:
May I request a specific party leader? Staff are assigned regular birthday party shifts at specific locations, so we do not accept requests for individual leaders. Is there a limit to the number of people who can attend? 16 children maximum including little ones on the move and the birthday child! (unless otherwise noted). Parents may be in the room to assist young children, but food and party activities are for the party participants only. Can parties be for multiple children at one time? We limit parties to one child (or two children in the same family). How long are the parties? Most parties are 2 hours in length, plus 30 minutes of set-up prior to the start time to prepare for your guests and 15 minutes for cleanup. Can we stay longer than the allotted time? Time extensions and multiple party bookings will not be accepted. What should I bring to the party? Please bring the following items to your party: food, beverages, plates, napkins, cutlery and tablecloths for 6’ rectangle tables (4 recommended) and goody bags (optional). What can I bring to decorate? You are welcome to bring your own party decorations/supplies, but we ask that you use tape only to avoid damage to the walls. Please note that we do not allow helium balloons in any of our facilities.
Are there kitchen facilities available? Each of our locations has a fridge available. Party on the Mountain offers access to a stove and oven for reheating. What is the cancellation policy for birthday parties? All parties require two weeks notice to cancel. No refunds will be provided if cancellation occurs within two weeks. Where do I meet my party leader? At the Recreation Complex look for your party signage in the main lobby; it will lead you to the party location. Is the party leader responsible for supervising the children? Yes, the party leader will maintain the active portion of the party. We ask that you assist the party leader during the activities. In the 2nd hour of the party we ask that parents help supervise the children. Can I hire a magician/clown/fairy to entertain at my party? Third party entertainers are not permitted. For parties that offer a craft, can I request a specific craft? Our party leader prepares an age appropriate craft and you may discuss a craft option upon arrival or during set-up time. Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? All relevant information is provided at time of registration with pertinent information on your receipt.

Personal Training Private Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is led by Connie Meisner our Certified Therapeutic Restorative Yoga Instructor. Whatever you are experiencing, take it to the mat. Yoga can transform illness to health, injury to strength, and anxiety to joy. Yoga works on all aspects of our being – physical, mental and emotional – bringing us to a place of health, wellness and joyful vitality. Restorative Yoga is a gentle therapeutic style of yoga that uses props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks to minimize the amount of work that the muscles are doing in the pose. Once placed in these supported passive postures you will experience the body and mind being grounded, safe and integrated. The poses are held for several minutes and often consist of only 3-5 poses for the private session (60 minutes). The focus of the practice is to restore the central nervous system and the internal systems of the body. Restorative Yoga is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation and helps address specific health challenges. $64.00/One 60 Minute Session Package prices are advertised with Personal Training Packages
Functional Movement Screening Our Certified FMS Personal Trainer will introduce you to Functional Movement Screening (FMS). FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries which can affect physical activity and performance. Once you complete the movement patterns, a score is given which is used to target and track progress and corrective exercises are prescribed to address possible movement pattern issues.

Emergency
Emergency Social Services
Additional information available at www.portmoody.ca Emergency Social Services (ESS) is a provincial emergency response program that is provided by municipalities throughout BC typically for the first 72 hours of a disaster. In Port Moody, this service is managed by the Community Services department staff and depending upon the magnitude of the disaster, community volunteers may be mobilized for assistance. When disaster strikes (structure fire or earthquake for example), the City will establish a Reception Centre to assist residents that have been displaced from their homes. Depending upon the nature of the disaster, either Kyle Centre or the Recreation Complex would typically be used as a Reception Centre. The Reception Centre would be the site where residents that have been evacuated would register and seek support for basic services. Information on which facility has been identified as the reception centre is made available to the public through social media, City website, signage, TV and radio stations such as CKWX 1130 A.M. During a disaster, the ESS program plays a critical role in the community by helping people meet their basic needs for food, clothing, lodging and with family reunification. Most importantly, it is recommended that residents be prepared to sustain themselves, their families and pets for the first 72 hours in a disaster situation.

Preparing your home for an earthquake. Be prepared: Plan and prepare yourself and your family for an earthquake or another major disaster.
Make an evacuation plan:
• Designate a family meeting place - one just outside the home and a secondary place outside of the neighbourhood • Establish an out of province contact • Prepare your home • Prepare emergency supplies • Go through your home, imagining what could happen to each part of it if it were shaken violently. • Seek advice from professionals (insurance, engineers, architects) if you are unsure what to do. If you live in a condo or apartment building, you may experience more sway and less vibration than in a single-storey building. Work with your building or strata corporation manager to help quake-proof your home.
Prepare your home:
• Know your utility shut-off valves (gas, electric, water) • Plan all possible exits • Check for home hazards: Is the house bolted to its foundations? Are the walls braced? Chimneys weak? Are roof tiles loose? Make necessary repairs now
• Tie down your water heater and other appliances that could break gas or water lines if they topple. • Secure top-heavy furniture (eg: shelving units) to prevent tipping. Keep heavy items on lower shelves. • Fix mirrors and other hanging objects so they won’t fall of hooks. • Locate beds away from chimneys, windows, heavy pictures, etc. • Closed curtains will help keep broken window glass off nearby occupied beds. • Put anti-skid pads (eg: Velcro) under TVs, VCRs, computers and small appliances. • Store valuable documents and special small keepsakes in a fire-resistant place. • Keep sturdy shoes and outdoor clothing handy. • Use child-proof or safety latches on cupboards to stop contents from spilling out. • Keep flammable items and household chemicals away from heat and where they can’t spill. Keep them in safe cupboard if they can’t be stored in an outside shed. • Put plywood up in the attic on joists around each chimney to help prevent bricks and mortar from coming through a ceiling.
