FAQ’S

Frequently Asked Questions: May I request a specific party leader? Staff are assigned regular birthday party shifts at specific locations, so we do not accept requests for individual leaders. Is there a limit to the number of people who can attend? 16 children maximum including little ones on the move and the birthday child! (unless otherwise noted). Parents may be in the room to assist young children, but food and party activities are for the party participants only. Can parties be for multiple children at one time? We limit parties to one child (or two children in the same family). How long are the parties? Most parties are 2 hours in length, plus 30 minutes of set-up prior to the start time to prepare for your guests and 15 minutes for cleanup. Can we stay longer than the allotted time? Time extensions and multiple party bookings will not be accepted. What should I bring to the party? Please bring the following items to your party: food, beverages, plates, napkins, cutlery and tablecloths for 6’ rectangle tables (4 recommended) and goody bags (optional). What can I bring to decorate? You are welcome to bring your own party decorations/supplies, but we ask that you use painters tape only to avoid damage to the walls. Please note that we do not allow helium balloons in any of our facilities.

Additional Questions for Arena and Aquatics Parties Only

Arena Parties Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? A leader will contact you up to 48 hours prior to set up a meeting place and answer any questions you may have. Will we have the entire ice sheet to ourselves? Fall & Winter parties – a quarter of the ice will be dedicated to your party during a family skate session. Spring parties – your party will have a private sheet of ice in the curling rink.

Are there kitchen facilities available? Each of our locations has a fridge available. Party on the Mountain offers access to a stove and oven for reheating. What is the cancellation policy for birthday parties? All parties require two weeks notice to cancel. No refunds will be provided if cancellation occurs within two weeks. Where do I meet my party leader? At the Recreation Complex look for your party signage in the main lobby; it will lead you to the party location. Is the party leader responsible for supervising the children? Yes, with the assistance of a parent/guardian. The role of your party leader is to supervise and support the active portion of your party. Can I hire a magician/clown/fairy to entertain at my party? Third party entertainers are not permitted. Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? All relevant information is provided at time of registration with pertinent information on your receipt.

Aquatic Parties (July & August) Is there an opportunity to invite more guests than the maximum? An additional lifeguard can be hired in advance, for an extra fee, to increase the number of guests. Do pool parties come with a leader? Pool party leaders are not provided; however, lifeguards will offer some fun games and pool toys/equipment are available. Does the maximum number of participants include guests who are not using the pool? The maximum number includes both pool and poolside guests (everyone inside the gates). What should I bring to the party? You may bring the following items to your party: food, beverages, plates, napkins and cutlery.

Do we have to pay for skate and helmet rentals? Skates and helmet rental are included in your party fee.

What is provided in the outdoor pool setting? A pop-up tent, tables and chairs.

Can the kids wear bike helmets? Bike helmets are not permitted on the ice surface as they do not offer adequate protection.

If public swim starts directly after our party, can we stay? Yes, you may stay free of charge for the public swim.

Enchanted Forest Enchanted Forest is a shadow-based art project created by Port Moody’s Resident Artist Sara Graham. Participants are invited to imagine Port Moody as a fantastical forest and create a treehouse or fort out of paper. Once participants are finished they can place their creation within the art installation and use flashlights to activate the space and make the shadows come to life on the walls. For more information please visit www.portmoody.ca/ shadowcity. Sunday, April 19 from 6-8:30pm, Glenayre Community Centre 58
