Joshua academy visit Gibson County Soil & Water Conservation District and Indiana State Department of Agriculture staff visited Joshua Academy, a private faith-based K-6 Evansville school. The school started as a vision of Rev. Larry A. Rascoe, Sr., to provide quality education using a model unique to the needs of at-risk students. The students grow vegetables, make dishes for staff and students, care for hens and gather eggs. They also raise tilapia to sell at a market.

Conservation through Community Leadership workshop

Conservation through Community Leadership is a pilot program through Purdue University. Gibson County SWCD was awarded a grant to participate. This workshop aided in bringing in community leaders to address research concerns. Purdue Extension leaders came to the workshop to help facilitate the meeting, and spur on conversation and ideas. These activities should assist in the re-write of the Lower Patoka River watershed plan.
