Susan Clevenger OWENSVILLE — Susan Ann Clevenger, 63, of Owensville, passed away Dec. 2, 2019, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born in Woodriver, Illinois, on April 10, 1956 to John O. Carroll and Nellie L. (Jared) Carroll. Susie always had a drive and ability to help others. She would often put ever yone first to make sure they were cared for and not even think about herself. Susie was known for loving animals, also known to her as her critters. She would spoil her dogs on a daily basis and was known for boiling chicken breasts for them as treats. Susie had many hobbies including riding motorcycles with her husband of 22 years, planting a big garden, growing beautiful flowers around the house, watching her hummingbirds and admiring the eagles soaring above. Her ultimate hobby was playing with her grandchildren. Susie was always passionate about caring for and protecting her kids and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a fearless, loyal, no-nonsense woman with a heart of gold. Susie will truly be missed by her friends and family. She is preceded in

death by her father John Carroll; son Steven Moore; and brother James Carroll. Susie is sur vived by her mother Nellie Carroll; husband Brent “Tiny” Clevenger; children Ricky (Brandi) Geisert and Billy (Elizabeth) Geisert; grandchildren Coltan “Peanut”, Dillan, Brooke, and Ashlen; great-grandchildren Brayden, Ryan, Ryder, Aubrey, Spencer, Kasen and Cooper; siblings Connie Sue, Patricia Joanne, Penny Lee, Mar y Ann, and Jay; canine companions Willie, Luna, and Biscuit; and cat Lucky. Holders Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Clevenger. A celebration of her life is Dec. 7, 2019, at Owensville General Baptist Church from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. with a memorial ser vice at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to an animal shelter of your choice.

Mary Jo Deputy JASPER, Ind. — Mary Jo Deputy, 88, of Jasper, formerly of Oakland City, entered rest peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019, at her home. She was born on June 26, 1931, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to Gail Wilbur and Mary Melissa (Rice) Phebus. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Bill and Bob Phebus; her husband Cliff Deputy in 1990, whom she married on July 20, 19500. During the time Cliff served in the military, they lived in Virginia. After moving to Oakland City, she worked at Charles Farmer Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Princeton Christian Church and their Women’s Serving Our Savior group. She played the piano for church each Sunday from the time she was 16 until she was 83 years old, serving God for 67 years. Jo loved Southern Gospel concerts and was involved in the Republican Women’s Club. She was a long-time member of the Merry Moderns Home Ec Club, bowled on teams at the Oakland City Bowling Alley for many years, and she was also a member of Tri Kappa and was in Bunko group. Jo is survived by daughter Melissa (Ed) Wagner of Evansville; grandchildren Megan (Josh) Dodd, Colton and Mackenzie Wagner; greatgrandchildren Ryker, Beckett and Lennox Dodd; brothers, Tom Phebus of Madisonville, Kentucky,

and Ed Phebus of Windsor, Colorado. Jo is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Delma, Martha, and Bonnie Phebus, Doris, Harold, Joann and Betty Deputy and Larry and Janice Chandler, as well as 33 nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in Forsythe Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Kinkade will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Melissa would like to give special thanks to her daughter, Megan Dodd, who gave amazing care to Mom in the past two years; and to Jerry Wilkins for his special care for Jo while she lived in Oakland City.
