Part of the inspiration behind the formation of NC Fine Art & Gifts is the abundance of great art being produced in our area. The Art Shop wants to showcase an array of beautiful works, including fine art, pottery, and an assortment of locally hand-crafted gift items. As per The Art shop tradition, NC Fine Art & Gifts plans to keep the highest level of quality with their work.
Two of the many new pieces that will be featured in the gallery are by artist Phillip Philbeck. Philbeck, though recognized internationally for his work, resides here in North Carolina. The two works are original oils on canvas and depict notable landmarks in Greensboro. One captures a glimpse of the beautiful downtown skyline and the other is of the famous Nathaniel Greene statue. Both paintings were created specifically for the NC gallery. Anyone interested in submitting their work for consideration should do so by visiting their website at www.artshopnc.com. Works that are currently being sought after are small pieces (10”x10” or smaller) of NC historical sites, points of interest, popular venues or events, as well as small sculpture and three-dimensional art.

New Sarum Brewery
Spencer: The New Sarum Brewery opened up in Salisbury, NC as a nano-brewery (very small brewery usually owned by a sole entrepreneur that brews in small batch quantities) in 2012. New Sarum Brewing derives its name from the original settlement name of Salisbury’s Sister City “Old Sarum” England. Fast forward to 2016 and you have a new NC Craft micro-brewery that is brewing some top notch beers! About the Roundhouse Robust Porter: This American style porter is on the high end ABV side at 7% but drinks more like an everyday Porter. This dark, rich ale has lots of caramel and chocolate flavors blended perfectly with a toffee like finish. Enjoy and cheers to New Sarum Brewery!!! Tim: We had this beer, both on The Less Desirables and our sister podcast, The Beer Dads, recently. Both shows agreed that it was a good beer. I don’t know that I’d call it “robust” as the name suggests but it does drink like an everyday porter. Great notes of chocolate, caramel and buttery toffee in this beer. Can’t go wrong with 7% ABV, either. I rate the beer a strong 3.75 stars out of 5. As far as New Sarum goes, while porters are my favorite style of beer, their Hurley Park Blood Orange Wheat is even better; I’d rate that 4.25 stars out of 5. _________________________________
