Twin City RibFest Downtown WS June 11 - 14
The Twin City RibFest returns to downtown Winston-Salem on June 11-14 and brings with it nine nationally acclaimed BBQ teams that hail from Texas to North Carolina. BBQ fans will be able to try various styles including Memphis, St. Louis and of course, Texas. The event runs from 11 AM – 11 PM on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Noon – 7 PM on Sunday. BBQ is not all that the Twin City RibFest offers. Promoter Allen McDavid has included entertainment elements not found in most BBQ festivals. It has a real side show featuring the Squidling Brothers from Phikladelphia, UIW Lucha Libre wrestling and a mock saloon called the Larceny Bourbon Shady Ladie’s Saloon complete with can can girls. Deep Eddy Vodka will be sponsoring a pin-up girl contest called “I’m a Betty.” Now in its 11th year, the Twin City RibFest has become an event that heralds summer’s official arrival in WinstonSalem. It originated in a downtown church parking lot in 2005. And since then 20-25,000 Twin City BBQ fans come out for the good food and fun. The success of the Twin City RibFest was immediate and helped it gain

The Triad’s Premier Handmade and Vintage Boutique, Lounge and Wine Bar - Eclection By Brian Watkins
Where else can you shop for handmade or vintage items while enjoying a coffee and some gourmet bites to eat? Eclection of Kernsersville carries some of the most unique pieces in the Triad, from handmade or vintage jewelry and apparel to décor and furniture. The collection bears the creative mark of over 75 local artisans, and browsing it pairs well with a glass of wine or craft beer anytime you are there!
Eclection’s gallery includes things like decorative pillows, wall signs and focal pieces, clothing and jewelry. Each artist brings something unique – some rework clothes or turn upcycled items into decorative pieces. One in particular turns vintage items like cameras and projectors into funky lights. The shop updates its Facebook page regularly with new and inspired items made locally, so visit the link at the end to check them out!
Daily treats like Thai chicken meatballs, curried chicken salad, spinach quiche, and other great lunch and snack items. Visitors can also sample freshbaked artisan breads and local cheeses to accompany a choice from a balanced wine list or craft beer. If you’re having a sweet tooth kind of day, Eclection’s sampling of brownies, muffins, and cake du jour won’t disappoint.
Coffee lovers can enjoy rich pourover coffee served all day. Foe each cup the coffee is ground and brewed for maximum freshness and flavor from a selection of different blends all roasted locally.
Looking to be crafty yourself? Crafting classes are a pretty regular thing at Eclection, and are available both during the day and in the evenings. Eclection artists lead each two hour class, with flexible times for groups of 6 or more. You can learn everything from painting a picture and jewelry-making to creating your own beauty products. Visitors are welcome to attend preplanned classes, but you can also accompany a special event with a class. Crafting classes make great baby or bridal showers and birthday events! In 2007 a local icon, Texas Pete hot sauce signed on as the title sponsor and served that role through the event’s 10th Anniversary in 2014. In 2009 the RibFest relocated to the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds where it stayed for three years. Despite the extra room and other amenities the new location had, McDavid determined that the event belonged where it was born, in downtown Winston-Salem. The Winston-Salem Journal provided the RibFest a new downtown site and a new marketing partner. The 2012 Twin City RibFest returned to downtown to the delight of its longtime attendees.
