DOODLE
Using very bright colours was my first step towards my Doodle, aswell as paint, thick pens and brown paper. I started with one a0 page and moved around randomly where i thought like drawing at that time. I wasnt trying to make anything, I didnt think about what i was doing i used a paintbrush as well as finger painting, fast brush strokes, and creating random organic like shapes.

COMPOSITIONS
FEELING LIKE SOME COLOUR AND TRIBAL PATTERNS
From my Doodle I took away key words such as Circus, tribal , animal prints, Vibrant and chaotic. I decided to stay with the bright colours and use of black to create my next compositional drawings. I started to make this on the computer from the numerous rounded shapes and patterns i had generated in my non intentional doodle
I USED WOODEN SKEWERS !
Tribal patterns and colours was what i created throughout this work. Using wooden skewers to generate some of the playful lines and patterns which shared connection to tribal history and the use of wood seemed necessary to create this. I used paint, numerous ball point pens, and card board to create some of the thicker smudging lines. I again didnt think about was i was creating just began to draw what came to mind and what i felt like using around the a4 page. I created overlapping moments when the paint dried either outline lines and shapes i had created. Also by drawing more shapes over top of exsisting ones creating more of a depth and buzy, vibrant piece
ICHING MADE ME DO IT
IChing Influence I Used Iching to generate some of my compositions by asking questions and using the number and passage given. I interperated some of the meanings and key words to create these randomised drawings. I asked questions to determine paper sizes, media i was going to use and where i should do my drawings. This did impact my work as i created things i was’nt thinking about and i used new media.
LOOKS LIKE SCRIBBLES TO ME...
With the use of Iching i did this drawing blind folded Using only two pastles, paint and my hands to create this. Where i generated lots of loose swirly lines that overlapped eachother and spots of paint that create certain moments and aspects on top of the drawing. These paint spots gave it a sense of movement suggested through a space.
JUST SOME MORE DRAWINGS ICHING TOLD ME TO DO.
Creating Compositions on 3 A3 pages using bright coloured paint, gauche, ballpoint pens, and wooden skewers After my doodle I liked the over lapping moments between different media and the random patterns and shapes I created. These shared relevance to circus sort of patterns and also tribal elements. By using wooden skewers I elobrated making rough edgy lines, i also used them and smudged paint in random on the page and they created more playful lines not sharp and straight. I copied some of the lines and moments made with the skewers hand drawn with pen. organic lines and shapes with bright colours and blending all together This made one of my favourite compositions

HOW TO DO A BASIC KNOT
After asking I-Ching what media to use i was given something natural and rope where I decided to use a tree branch found outside and rope. With no glue or anything to stick together. I decided to just knot everything in a way it would stay together. By using the basic knot method tying all the different lengths of rope together around the tree branch. I then decided to add a bit of colour to the rope by rolling the rope around in different colours to create another randomised feature and to add colour and emphasize some of the knots i made stand out. By using I-Chings randomising method i had created something i really liked by using somethings that wouldnt usually be my first choice in media options.

Using black thick wool and foam blocks. I glued the foam to a a1 piece of card randomly and went around and around the blocks till i had created different heights witht the string and pathways across each block. This created depth between the empty space and I seem to have created something i felt had a strong architectural sense By wrapping the wool around the foam i also created a sort of tension between the blocks and the wool. The uneven lines and the patterns i started to create by moving around the piece of card but moving the wool with me at the same time.
Thought of this as a foot traffic map how people could be moving around spaces in the studio, the experiences encountered and how colour could add a certain sense of emotion to the dedicated area.
With the found wood and blocks i used in previous models I decided to create an abstract window connection detail. Using the blocks as the connections for corners and my found coloured timber as the frame model. i thought this was an abstract window detail that could be used in buildings, with the painted blocks either facing the inside or outside. Adding colour and a vibrant pattern to a building and making the window joinery a stand out part of a structure
CRAZY WINDOW JOINERY
After using different types of rope in my previous models and a found tree branch I decided to make a bigger model By using coloured string, thick rope, fine rope , different size nails and a 1.5 meter long piece of wood I asked I-Ching how i Should go about making this all together. I asked what sort of nails i should use, I was given a massage about masucline and feminie attributes. Where I decided to use my dads building nails and small nails i had purchased. I tired to create a screen by roping them all together giving it a sense of depth as well as an obstacle screen. My choosing the different ropes randomly i would then pick other ropes and just keep knotting them together all in a randomised way, which can be seen as it was not very finely done. But I-Ching had suggested to make it rough and like a trial run. By knotting the string around the hooks i had enabled them to stay at all the different lengths accordingly. I decided to display my work across the two screens in studio, where the nails had acted as support and stoppers from sliding off either end of the screens.

OFF CUT BUILDING TIMBER OFF CUT TREE BRANCH WHITE THICK ROPE
After making numerous models with rope and wood i tried to create moments without the wood being connected or the wood hanging from high levels. I decided to try a wraping/knotting effect around the timber instead of using nails or sckrews. It created a nice contrast of colour agasint the gradient of wood and made the rope stand out more and add a sense of the rope holding something in between the knots. Where i thought of hanging wood within the rope as well as hanging it off wood. Adding more depth to my screen and having different levels of wood.W

How to create a nice cut for timber connection
Slicing out of the tree branch I created a perfect slot for my 90x40 timber to be nailed in agasint the tree branch using 4 nails I stuck the too pieces of timber together i liked the difference between the two pieces of wood and the different grains and colours that they created agasint eachother With each piece of wood being around 1.5 meters long i had created a frame to hang my rope off W

SKREW HOOKS INTO WOOD RANDOMLY
After painting this block i wrapped this block with rope like a present and knotted it so it wouldnt slide out of the rope. This rope was then attached to a hook and hung from the timber branch
Finger painting the blocks and skrewing hooks into it so it can hang off rope and act as a weighted object between the screen.
This was the largest block between the objects of found timber it was the heaviest so i sckrewed a hook deep into the block and it was hung off the strongest piece of rope
This was the smallest found timber block which was also stringed between rope and hung from the rope rather than from the actual piece of wood, This one was rolled in paint as well as being finger painted
After creating the joint between a found tree branch and timber i decided to create a rope screen with multiple different knotted ropes all hanging off the wooden structure i had made. By having the tree branch detail at the other end i decided to find a place in the studio it could hang from. Where i found the stair structure to be the perfect spot. With another piece of timber used as support under the stairs, the other end was then leant on the studio pin boards with the hook at the back stopping it from sliding backwards. The structure was really stable and it became like a screen in the studio so it changed the way people moved around that certain area. People were bopping down lower and moving around it others were moving through the ropes just hoping it wouldnt move or fall on them.

TRIAL & ERROR HAS COME TO AN END FOR NOW...
Through this paper I learnt alot about my ability to work with different media in ways i had not explored much into before trial and error. It took me out of my comfort zone where i learnt to produce quickly and not to think about the outcome. Where i came to like random ways of working and the abstract drawings and models that came out of this. I got to express my love for bright colours and try new things with the use of colour. By not being able to use paper i got interested with painting on potato sack material, sheets and cardboard. I made use of everyday objects as well as found recycled materials around the house. In the making of my wood connection i got to use model making skills and use a chain saw to cut into my gum wood found tree branch. Throughout this i havent learnt that all objects can be given architectural values in the small details such as knots and be given diagrams on how to produce these works. As well as how space is an important part of architecture and working with what is already around to create new spaces and interactions I wish we got even more time to explore even more materials and make even bigger installations around the city. overall i have really enjoyed this design paper.
