1201 E. 3rd St. Casper, WY 82601 caspersurgicalcenter.com (307)577-2950

Welcome to the Natrona County School District! It is with great honor and excitement that I welcome you to the 20202021 School Year. The first day of school for students in Natrona County is September 2nd, 2020! While last year was filled with unexpected challenges, we are incredibly proud of - and grateful for - the way our students, parents, and staff responded. As we move forward into a new school year, we would like to start off by thanking our students, staff, parents, and our community for your support, patience, and partnership in education. For every challenge we have faced, there are countless moments of celebration and excellence. Throughout the year, there will be immeasurable moments of #EverydayExcellence; students excelling in academics, achieving personal successes, showing compassion and kindness to each other, growing as individuals, and positively impacting their school and community. We understand there are a lot of uncertainties as we move into the school year, but I encourage you to focus also on the joy and excellence that occurs each day within our schools and community. We are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all students, staff, and school families while continuing to focus on the everyday moments of success and celebration. Our District is home to over 13,000 students and over the past onehundred years, we’ve watched our district blossom into more than 30 schools and programs – pre-kindergarten through high school. We have over 2,000 talented and professional employees in the Natrona County School District who work diligently each day to provide exceptional learning environments for all students. As a collective school community, we believe it is important to set strategic goals to focus our actions for continued educational excellence in Natrona County. High Expectations, Leading in Literacy, Planning With Purpose, Safe & Healthy Environments, and Effective and Efficient Operations are the forefront of our District’s strategic goals and serve as the foundation for our work and comprehensive Strategic Plan. We are committed to a collaborative atmosphere that is dedicated to serving the best interest of our students and staff. It takes more than our teachers, support staff, and administrators to accomplish this - our school families and community members are an integral partner in reaching our shared goal of high expectations and academic success for our students and community. Through the use of high-level communication, marketing, design of creative content, and strategic audience engagement we aim to continuously inform, engage, and connect with all stakeholders. I encourage you to keep up to date on news and important NCSD information by checking the main page of this website and following us on social media. You can share your thoughts and feedback at any time by calling my office or e-mailing communications@myncsd.org. We are incredibly fortunate to have the terrific students, staff, school families, and community members who go above and beyond each day, in and out of the classroom, to ensure educational excellence in Natrona County. Thank you for all that you do. Sincerely, Superintendent Jennings

Dear community of Casper learners: Being prepared is a big part of accomplishing any job successfully. So it is a great pleasure to partner and collaborate with the Natrona County School District on this school calendar intended to assist students across all grades prepare to learn in the coming school year. Quarantine vs. Isolation What's the Difference?

Quarantine

Isolation

QUARANTINE keeps someone who was in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 away from others..

ISOLATION keeps someone who is sick or who has tested positive for COVID-19 without symptoms away from others, even in their own home.

If you had close contact with a person who has COVID-19

If you are sick and think you have COVID-19 or you have tested positive for COVID-19

•Stay home until 14 days after your last contact. • Check your temperature twice a day and watch for symptoms of COVID-19. • If possible, stay away from people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19.

• Contact your healthcare provider or CNCHD for testing and guidance • Stay home until 24 hours have passed with no fever AND symptoms improved AND 10 days since symptoms first appeared

If you tested positive for COVID-19 but do not have symptoms • Stay home until after 10 days have passed since your positive test.

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

If you live with others, stay in a specific “sick room” or area and away from other people or animals, including pets. Use a separate bathroom, if available.

Follow Guidance of Healthcare Provider and/or Casper-Natrona County Health Dept.

* Guidelines are subject to change based on any changes/guidance from CDC or the Casper-Natrona County Health Department.

Casper-Natrona County Health Department will initiate its processes for contact tracing, identifying community health impact, and in deciding the course of action for a particular classroom or school building closure, depending on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the scope of exposure and known positives.

Spring Into Safety! Bus Safety Tips

Safe Kids of Central Wyoming Safe Kids of Central Wyoming is a non-profit organization led by the Wyoming Medical Center dedicated to keeping the kids in our community safe. Be on the lookout for this year’s Safe Kids Day date!

As the weather warms up, and your children begin to play outside and walk to school, here are a few tips to help keep them safe! • Always use crosswalks to cross the street • Look both ways before you cross the street • Always walk on the sidewalk, never in the street • Use the buddy system when walking to school • Don’t talk to strangers • Wear safety equipment when riding bikes, rollerblading, or skateboarding: Helmets and knee & elbow pads are a great start! • Always be aware of your surroundings • Look up from your phone • Wear sunscreen or protective clothing • Remember to stay hydrated

Motorists: * If Red Lights are Flashing, NO PASSING! * Be Alter and SLOW DOWN when driving in school zones * Watch for children playing, walking, or standing near bus stops * Yellow lights mean - SLOW DOWN, BE AWARE - Bus is preparing to stop and load or unload children Parents/Students: * When the bus arrives, wait for it to come to a complete stop and for the driver to say it’s okay to load * Never walk behind a school bus * If you drop something by the bus, tell the driver right away. Do not try and pick it up. * Stay on the sidewalk while waiting for the bus
