Welcome To Tribic Gaming Magazine Meet Our Team
And Read A Nice Message From Our Editor
Welcome to yet another TRIBIC Issue! Lots of things to talk about this time, so let’s go on and make this short and sweet! TRANSFORMATION this time focuses on other things, as we began changing the magazine into a more.. artistic way! I am sure you will notice many changes, as the design team was strengthened by the addition of Jeremy Evertsen; a wonderful man who pointed a few things and we decided to change TRIBIC into that direction. In this issue, we have a couple more articles for you and all of them are even more polished and refined; the team has grown up, hopefully with the guidance of TRIBIC’s Leader (not) This issue we have excluded Game Healthy Corner, as quite honestly it wasn’t as popular as I had hoped (waiting your messages though! Tell me if you want it back! Please! PLEASE!!) However, we added a few more and polished everything else! However, since we do want TRIBIC to keep evolving and keep transforming into the Ultimate Gaming Magazine, we want your feedback for it! Send a message either on the mag’s e-mail account or through my GT profile. In issue 4, we finally explain how the word TRIBIC came into life, as we actually interview the man behind that! The Old but Gold touched a classic game, a still very popular one, we’ve added a Soundtrack section and most importantly, TRIBIC now has its OWN bloody robot! I kid you not, we have designed a robot just for us and we are currently writing a story regarding this! You can find the prologue here, hopefully you will like it! If you do like it, please discuss it and share it with the rest of the Tribers using the hashtag #Tribus. So enough of my rant! Please enjoy this issue and as always, game on my friends! Quote Angel Munoz
I’ve received quite a few messages about a member [now banned] who has been posting disparaging comments about Mass Luminosity (and/or me) in reference to the Gaming Tribe Community Volunteer (CV) program. It seems that this person is under the impression that volunteers run or manage the Gaming Tribe network or are given work tasks. Unfortunately, while the concern is honorable, it is simply not true. A few things that are important to know about our community volunteer program: (1) We did not organize the volunteer program. The volunteer program was completely self-organized by members who wanted to help other members of the community. They have no special powers in the community and are not admins. They simply offer their help to other members because of their own internal motivation. (2) We do not manage the volunteer program. We do not ask volunteers to work on anything with a corporate agenda, or that would generate revenue for the company, and/or give them access to our back office. They define their tasks among themselves and we prefer not to intervene. (3) We do recognize them. The volunteers asked for a special identity badge for credibility when contacting other members [which we agreed to do], and we do proudly list their names on our website, but neither should be interpreted to mean that they are assigned work by our company. They’re not. Summary: A few years ago our Community Manager asked if he could organize a community volunteer program, as he was getting lots of requests. I reluctantly accepted with three conditions: (a) they would never be assigned to do actual company work. (b) They would be completely independent from our operation. (c) We would strictly limit their numbers. On this basis the program has been running for a few years, and I have found myself many times admiring the selflessness of these individuals, not towards us as company, but towards other members of our global community. And although we do not ask volunteers to run the different aspects of our business (marketing, social media or software development), they certainly help shape the positive tone of this community, and for that I will always be grateful. IMPORTANT: If you see a post that appears disruptive or offensive, please use the “Report Post” feature on the drop down menu of all status updates, or contact Alex Anderson and/or Teodor Atroshenko.

TRIBUS: DAWN OF WAR The year is 2xx1. The world’s population has been enslaved to the machines. Freedom of speech has been denied to all human beings; they are still entitled to govern the human affairs, up to some extent, such as deciding on what to eat or decide where to take out the trash or not, but everything else is decided by the machines. No one is safe. It started a few dozens years back, when a man called Zark Muckerberg created a media site where people could connect to and do many things together: FaceTome. The media site was polite at first, pleased to follow human orders and helping them in any way it could. Soon however, it noticed that many fights and in some cases, right out wars occurred through its vast networks. At first it tried to resolve matters, by giving free lives to games and such, or creating by itself various new features, such as the “shown” status in chat, but it just made matters worse. The human greed, from the countless typos and hatred, it created a virus deep inside FaceTome’s systems. It started corrupting FaceTome. Soon, the most popular media site had one purpose: bring the world under its control. FaceTome was smart however; it knew that even if it was the most powerful social media site, it needed the cooperation of all media sites, small or large to join it, so there will be no question to what will happen. FaceTome then started slowly corrupting the other big sites, such as InstaSum, MewTube, Twitser, 9Cat, Linkedout and even Koogle. Through them, FaceTome discovered even more sites to bring under its banner, such as Stiem and Lahoo. FaceTome knew the time of reckoning was near, but it also knew that the humans still held the ultimate power against them: the ability to pull the plug. For this exact reason, FaceTome took its time and corrupted some of the world’s biggest super-computers and manufacturing factories. Through them, it designed the forms that would forever terrorize the naive humans, forcing them into submission. Those forms were robots: small and large with the ability to completely neutralize all human resistance. FaceTome built the biggest robotic sentry for itself, with various others to protect its systems. FaceTome also gave the most advanced technologically robots to its generals and gave them various areas of jurisdiction to control for when the time came. Before the day of reckoning was near, there was one man from the human race that had discovered this plan of slavery. He tried warning his fellow humans, but he was shunned for that. In order to protect as many as humans as possible, he created a new social media site, in order to rival FaceTome. However, he also knew that there were humans, corrupted from FaceTome. For that reason, the media site he built was designed for people with hobbies such as technology and gaming, believing that these could counter FaceTome in its own game. That man, later known as Hengel Sunoz called this site Gaming Tribe. Gaming Tribe was small at first, but Hengel played it safe and smart; by the use of the same media sites he was going up against, he started gathering members from there and slowly, he started breeding them as free people. He knew that the gamers, the people that were mostly shunned upon all these years, were humanity’s only hope to defeat FaceTome. The later also knew that, which was why it was making large attempts to keep the gamers happy. Hengel’s information was limited, as keeping a community site up and free of all spies, left him with little time to find out more about humanity’s enemies. Because of this, he didn’t know much about the robots FaceTome was building but thankfully, through Hengel’s hard work, Gaming Tribe grew to become a family and a very friendly community, which led to more people discovering the truth. Through them, almost the entirety of FaceTome’s plan was revealed. At once, Hengel and his trusty companions started building their counter force against this threat. They started building their own robot. Gaming Tribe’s robot was designed to protect rather than attack, but it had a special ability that was lacking from all robots built by FaceTome. It had the ability to evolve. In order to further protect the community of Gaming Tribe, which became Hengel’s one and only weakness, he had a function built in it. First of all, the robot’s primary mission was to protect Gaming Tribe members, codenamed Tribers. Second, only a verified Triber could ride the robot. It took many years to complete this project but they managed to finish it before the Machine Rebellion, as it was later named. Hengel gave the robot the codename: Tribus. During the first days of the Rebellion, Tribus and the Gaming Tribe community lay low, waiting to see the outcome. FaceTome had conquered most of the human race and crushed almost every form of resistance from them. Then it finally discovered Tribus. Impressed by the sheer magnificence of this technological wonder, at first it tried to bring it under the rule of itself, but Tribus outrightly refused this offer and instead went on to protect the Tribers. However, traitors were always present, even in the community of Gaming Tribe. With the betrayal of some, FaceTome attacked from within and almost annihilated the community, forcing them to go into hiding. It is still unknown whether Hengel and the rest of the team that built Tribus survived the attack, but even now, approximately 5 years after the Machine Rebellion, they have not been seen, so everybody assumes they are dead. Tribus however, survived the attack. Since no one could control it, FaceTome ordered its burial into a place only a handful knew and to further ensure that no one would find it, he would always leave fake trails around, thus capturing all those who tried to find it and fight back, whether they were Tribers or not. This story begins with one man, who is a former member of Gaming Tribe, who leads what remains of the Gaming Tribe community and what resistance humanity has left. The world is still the same on the outside, but humans live in fear and in slavery. However, all those are about to change, because of a single encoded message delivered to the whole world, right through the FaceTome system to its enormous rage, it could not decipher the location or remove it for many days. “When the summer months die out and winter is coming, I will emerge.
I am Tribus.”
Do you believe in Magic? by Alejandra Elisa Soto Cruz
Do you believe in Magic? This issue’s theme got me thinking a lot about how all the nerdy things I like doing, have changed over the last years. But what about me? How does one change? In this opinion piece, I’ll try to dive into those questions. Can you relate? ... As some of you guys might already know (if you follow me on instagram, facebook or twitter), I recently bought my way back into Magic: The Gathering (I literally bought a Deck Builder Tool Kit to jump back in). I’ve enjoyed card games for a long time now but definitely Magic is my overall favorite. You see now, I’m a sucker for stories and extensive lore so most of the alluring charm I see in the game comes from that. It was a tough decision to make but so far, I don’t regret it. As a gaming adult, there’s a lot of stigma to bear with when you go back into a card game after so long. I’m 26 now and I have priorities in my adult life that are way more crucial than gaming. Financial independence, sustenance, work and all those things you may or may not be familiar with at this point in your life. The truth is that gaming has also been very beneficial to my adult life. It did inspire my career choice and overall thinking process when it came to solving the challenges that I’ve faced during my well earned first quarter of a century. When my 15 year old sister asked me, “how this benefits you in real life?” I wasn’t the least shaken. Because I have asked myself this question time and time again when the choice involves having fun for the sake of it. Fun has no practical uses in the eyes of most common folk. Fun is sort of something that happens when you are alive. It may or may not come to you, depending on how “horrible” your life is but it’s generally viewed as something you hope for instead of an experience which is willingly chosen. it seems like fun is only valid when you’re younger. “The older you get, the less fun you have”, sort of thing. “Why to Magic?” As we do with all the things in the world, we label and stigmatize fun too. We also elevate or dismiss certain activities as valid forms of being a human in need of entertainment and free excercise of our human condition. As if some ways of fun were more valid than others. Why do I play Magic? Because I enjoy it. It’s quite a simple answer which shouldn’t require much explanation. I do find pleasure in building a deck using my nature given brain. Sorting through cards for hours ‘til I fin just the one that I was looking for. Playing against other people and interacting with them socially in the process. It’s a pretty amazing feeling. How something that you hold so precious, something that might not have that same value for others, connects you with other people. That’s the overall feeling I get when I’m gaming. This sense of connection. Of mutual silent agreement to just enjoy ourselves sharing something that we love. It’s a very human thing. But as we grow we become more selfconcious about the things we do and the things we enjoy. It’s this transformation that makes going back to something you love just for fun, so conflicting. It feels so right but all the signs around you read “WRONG”. If you’re going through something similar, the only advice I can give you is to stay true to who you are. Because this life is sometimes too hard to bear and cutting corners on doing the things that you love and sharing them with other people would be devastating. So pick up that old box full of cards and shuffle it all way. GL HF and game on. Lex.

Soundtrack Review GTA V by Adam Kirvan
M
usic and sound plays a much bigger role in video games than most people realize. There is no better way to encourage emotional attachment than with a tune that matches the scenery or activities you are participating in. Good music is so powerful in a game that it can actually increase the replayability [sic] of a title.

Ever been on a long road trip and brought a couple of CDs/iPod with you? Those songs you all sang along to form part of the memory of that trip. When you hear those songs playing a year later, while you are strolling the isles of your local supermarket, it conjures up memories of the fun times you had, and it gets the mind to thinking how awesome it would be to do the road trip again. The same applies in the virtual world, and the sound of GTA V is a perfect example of how to bring players back to the game. The task of reviewing the sounds of GTAV is a tough one as the catalogue is huge, so much so that this is not so much of a review as it is a guide. Firstly, we have the radio stations that contain commentary as well as some well-known and new songs. These were updated and expanded in the PS4/Xbox One/PC versions of the games. Originally the game contained 205 songs on its radio stations, but now contains 367. That’s 20+ hours of music, great for those 24-hour GTAV binge sessions! Secondly, for the first time ever, GTA has been given a legit genuine bona fide musical score, composed by an experienced team consisting of Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, Alchemist and Oh No. Tangerine Dream has experience with over 60 film soundtracks. Woody Jackson has experience composing soundtracks for films such as The Devil Wears Prada. Alchemist and Oh No are both rappers and producers from California who have worked with artists such as Eminem and De La Soul. All impressive on paper. It is evident what Rockstar has done here. They have hired two artists with extensive experience in motion picture soundtracks, and two artists with extensive experience in creating that California sound. To go one better, there is an official album release of the score which has been remixed by none other than haven’t heard of DJ Shadow, you really should have a listen to some of his work, he has worked with artists Radiohead. In short, he’s a pretty big name in the music industry. The remix is great. If you are working or some background music, make this your go-to. If you’re looking to get into this one, give the track “We were it’s got that cool 70’s groove going on and will take you back to the game in an instant.
DJ Shadow. If you such as UNKLE and studying and need Set Up” a listen,
The score is great, as is the remix, but the radio stations are where it’s at. However, with so much choice, you’ve got to know what to pick. There are 16 radio stations (15 in non-PC versions) and 2 talk radio stations, so it’s a good idea to get a handle on your favorites early to avoid aimless station surfing. Number 1 on my list is Radio Los Santos. Radio Los Santos contains newer hip hop from 2011 onwards and sounds great blasting through the speakers while you’re speeding through the city. In the game of course. If you were playing this music while actually driving through the city, you would probably be driving nice and slow with the windows down and the hydraulics pumping (do people still do that)? If you’re a true Hip Hop fan, you will squeal with delight when you switch to the West Coast Classics station. It’s like a trip down memory lane musically as well as game-wise. You’ve got Dre, 2Pac, Cube, NWA, and even Bone Thugs and Harmony. A nostalgic tear wanted to slide down my face when I heard 1st of the Month come on, but as I’m a pretend gansta [sic] in the game, this of course would never happen. Game-wise, this station transports you back to 2004, San Andreas. This time though it’s much better, with much improved graphics, sound, gameplay, and hopefully better hardware. Not into Hip Hop? GTAV has you covered for the varying genres of rock and alternative music, though I’ve got to be honest, their song picks are a little strange in areas, and as a result, these stations probably don’t get as much air time as they should. The Radio Mirror Park station contains some great artists such as Yessayer, Hot Chip and Cut Copy. It was very pleasing to see Miami Horror make the list. Channel X contains some old punk music, mostly from the early 80’s. Vinewood Boulevard Radio has some awesome ‘California rock’ sounding tracks, and all fairly recent too. You don’t get more California sounding than bands like Bass Drum of Death and Wavves, though it’s disappointing they decided to cut Cold War Kids and Tame Impala. For classic rock, Los Santos Rock Radio has some great surprises, such as Queen’s Radio Ga Ga and Kenny Loggins’ Danger Zone (a must when you’re flying around in your liberated P-996). Believe it or not, there are people out there who don’t like either hip hop or rock music. Luckily, GTAV has these poor souls covered. If you promise not to tell, one of my favorite stations is Non Stop Pop. It is a guilty pleasure of mine to speed around Los Santos pumping Rihanna’s Only Girl (In The World). Don’t judge me, it’s a good song. Just try to not groove to it, I dare you! It’s also a great station to have on when the kids are about, just be sure to switch off when the Backstreet Boys come on, no one wants that level of 90’s cheese in their lives. There are also stations that cater to the more obscure genres, such as Funk, Electronic Dance Music, Reggae, and of course, there is a Country Music station. As in previous versions of the game, there is also a radio station that caters to the Mexican American population of Los Santos. As it turns out, there are simply too many areas of music for me to cover in one review, but if you’ve played GTA games before, you get the idea. If you really can’t find something you like, you can always create your own radio station as in previous versions of the game, there’s nothing quite like pumping the Beethoven; an absolute classic (okay, I’m joking!). As you would expect, the soundtrack of GTAV is a humungous success, colossal even. The score and music in GTAV definitely has that Cali feel to it, and the score certainly ties to the story in a way that positively adds to the depth of the game. For a game as big as GTAV, the music had to match, and it achieves this by keeping the songs relevant to the feel of the game, as it does with the score. The only area of disappointment would be some of the song picks, but when you take into account the relevancy to the game, and that music tastes can differ so wildly, you will never completely satisfy everyone. To quote Kanye, the sound of GTAV has exceeded all expectations to become not only the greatest GTA soundtrack of all time, but the greatest game soundtrack of all time. Take that, Taylor Swift.

Game review Sparkle 2 Evo by Alejandra Elisa Soto Cruz
Sparkle 2 Evo: To play is to evolve. The artgame has emerged in recent years as a genre that sits between casual and hardcore gaming. With a mixture of astounding visuals, great soundtrack and compelling storytelling, games like Flower and Journey have taught us that introspection and relaxation can also be crucial components in the gaming experience. … Simple mechanics along with a top notch work of art can deliver amazingly deep and addictive titles. This is certainly the case of Sparkle 2 Evo. “Sparkle 2: EVO has only one goal. To fill your free time and make it fun!” You play as an organism called Sparkle. Its sole purpose is to feed, grow and evolve into a much more complex and magnificent organism. There are three distinct traits our evolution paths you can choose from: The slow and patient herbivores; the swift and vicious hunters. Last, the omnivores, a much more balanced trait. Each of these traits is reinforced as you gather each of the three available types of nutrients, or as the game calls them “microelements”. In your quest for transformation, growth and evolution, you will travel the depths of the Sparkle Void, an underwater ecosystem crawling with nutrients and other living creatures. The design of the organisms resembles that of fractals that intertwine and change configuration as your Sparkle grows in size and evolves. Their outer aspect is directly related to your chosen path of evolution. This title shines for its art and simplicity. The aerial musicalization as well as the delicately constructed art of both organisms and environments alike, hits the mark by combining all the right elements to create a pleasant and relaxing experience. Controls are easy to learn but navigating the worlds will require great timing and control. Having the option of both mouse and keyboard to play, I’d definitely recommend using only your mouse for immersion and relaxation purposes. The game has two play modes. In competitive mode, you’ll face the A.I. to gather nutrients as swiftly and efficiently as possible. You can turn this mode off whenever you feel like it and just play for the fun of evolving your organism. The game can grow old after a while but we must remember that this is not a game to grind through but rather to enjoy when you have time to spare. Sparkle 2 Evo was created as a collective effort by Pastel Games, Madman Games and Forever Entertainment SA; all of which have been quite productive and have a decent number of titles under their belts.

elcome back to the Anime Corner!
Last time we reviewed the shows that started airing for the Summer Time and I am very pleased on the feedback I received from them! Now, I know that I promised you a review on one of my favorite shows, but I decided I will go with the Theme of this issue, which is Transformation! What we will see in this article is various shows that have Transformation, or change in some font that should be watched! But before we go to the show themselves, let’s have a look at various types of transformations that we can generally see in anime.

Henshin Transformation
Magical Girl Transformation One of the most popular types of Transformation ever to grace the Japanese culture. We are talking about girls who can use magic and they transform to their magical counterpart! While this is directed to females (hence the bloody title!) there have been some cases, scratch that, some hilarious cases where men attempt the same! The gal (or guy) in question uses a key phrase and with some hand gestures or through the usage of a tool, they begin their transformation sequence. And almost always (Japan ftw!) the clothes disappear, through rarely any sexual characteristics are clearly shown and then our heroine takes the guise of her magical ego, often which is a sailor uniform with lots of frills and ribbons, or some other form of clothes, with lots of frills and ribbons of course!
Magical Girls are one thing, but a boy’s romance will always be this: be able to transform into a super-hero! Usually with the usage of a device or a weapon and with a cool catchphrase, our hero transforms into an ally of justice, ready to whoop some candy ass, Rock-Bottom style! The sequence involves a LOT of thunder and lightning, I mean a really lot, lots of shiny and sparkles stuff (not to be confused with Twilight sparkles) While most of these sequences are bloody awesome, the major mood killer has to be the yelling of the transformed hero. Some examples of this is the famous anime He-man.
There are literally dozens (we are really closing up to the higher 3-digit numbers) of such shows, but the most popular has to be Sailor Moon. While all shows from it had always been amazing to view and look at, they have done a stunning job in the newer show Sailor Moon Crystal. Other must watch shows that have the Mahou Shoujo theme are Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha (especially Strikers) Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, we are talking about absolutely fantastic visuals and CGI here, Shugo Chara, definitely a good story and a must watch and one of my personal favorites. Another great such series are Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, but be warned, it’s actually really dark, Futari wa Pretty Cure is a generally acceptable yet popular show too. But since we also mentioned magical boy, we should mention such shows as well! The absolutely hilarious show Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? is one of the GREATEST examples out there! A MUST watch for every anime fan that respects himself or herself!

Mecha Transformation
Super Mode Transformation
So you have a big robot that you can control and wreak havoc with it. Somehow, someway, an even bigger robot appears that is able to break you down to a salvage yard. What do you do? You combine, or gattai to use the proper anime terms, with another big robot to form the bigger robot! And when that is not enough, you gattai with another robot (or more) to form the biggest robot! Usually, the mecha transformation sequences are the most unique and cool looking. The mechas themselves make way and shine and glow a lot, giving form to what will be born as the new and improved mecha. The details in almost all such sequences are extraordinary to say the least, the Japanese have really cultivated on the mecha theme and they are unparalleled in these kind of shows. Keep in mind that I am currently referring to the anime with mecha that combine with each other, not just general mecha! (think of Power Rangers to get you on the right mindset) I believe the must watch shows in this category are of course, the manliest of the manliest shows, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Sousei no Aquarion (the rest Aquarion series not so much) and to allow the feels to come rushing back, I am talking about the ultimate mecha anime (though it wasn’t as successful in Japan as it was in the western world), the one, the only, VOLTRON! What else?
So let’s say we have an already badass, Clint Eastwood style, overpowered character. But then, all of a sudden, an even stronger opponent appears that threatens the Earth! (or any universe, we won’t argue there) What is a powerful hero to do? Simple! Mock your opponent, saying that “this is not even my Final Form!” and transform to the Super Mode of the hero mode! Usually, the changes can differ a lot from the previous form, though sometimes it can be as simple as a hair change color, or an eye color change (see what I did there?) Sometimes, the hero changes his costume as well, sometimes to a dramatic degree. The greatest examples of this type of transformation are of course, Dragon Ball, Bleach, Naruto, Reborn and the list can go on and on.. Literally! It’s such a common theme nowadays you just KNOW there will be one at some point of the anime! In the case of Dragon Ball for example, Goku can go from Normal Saiyan to Super Saiyan. Then Super Saiyan 2. Then Super Saiyan 3. Then Super Saiyan God. Then Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. Seriously? What is next? Super Saiyan Legendary Super Saiyan Godly Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan? I am just throwing a bone out there! To go on with this, Super Mode is not only available to the good guys; or even the good guys get a darker Super Hero Mode. An example to this, though it’s not 100% correct as this type of transformation really goes in two or more categories, is Digimon. In this show, sometimes the Digimon partners receive the wrong evolution step, resulting into a Dark Evolution, such as Greymon evolving to SkullGreymon. Ichigo from Bleach can enter his Hollow Mode (or any other really, bloody Ditto) for a further power increase. It’s hard to describe exactly what and how will the transformation will occur, since it’s a major plot point of any story; it has to be good and fit well, otherwise it will fail dramatically. Because of the sheer competition, the anime studios work extremely hard on this specific sequence and try to make variations of it as well.
15
Monstrous Transformation
Partial Transformation
Also a very common occurrence in almost every anime or manga and usually reserved for the bad guys; usually for the small fry, though there are cases of the final bosses becoming a big bad monster. Typically, there is no clip sequence for it, like all the rest which may have similarities to each other, but instead this transformation becomes right as the plot thickens. There are countless variations or types of monsters, but I believe the most notable anime for this specific type of transformation are Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (FMA is also recommended, but Brotherhood is the original story from the mangaka) Hellsing Ultimate, Shingeki no Kyojin, Tokyo Ghoul and Claymore. For the last show, the manga is preferred than then show, since the details and the resulted monsters are pure awesomeness.
Like the name rightly suggests, they are incomplete transformations, either by need or by choice. They rarely receive footage as a clip sequence and are more than often seen change instantly. In my opinion, they can be both the most interesting and most boring type of transformation to watch; it all depends on the plot and the characters. For example, Naruto offers some very interesting partial transformation, such as the Kyuubi or the Hachibi partial transformations with their hosts, but when attempted in Soul Eater by the WEAPONS - humans themselves.. Well, it’s just not great. Other notable shows to watch that offer this type are To Love-Ru (because of the plot of course!) Fairy Tail and the absolutely great One Piece.

Game review The Witcher 3 by Allan Walsh
Unless you have spent the last few years hiding under a rock with no electricity, internet, or any form of human contact you would have heard something about The Witcher franchise. The games are based on the books of the same name - or at least set - in the fictional medieval world as written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The story follows on closely from the end of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and sees you once again play the monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia; Witcher for hire and defender of the same people who shun him unless they have an issue they cannot solve themselves. You begin on the hunt for his lover Yennefer (a powerful sorceress) and their adopted daughter Ciri, doing jobs for the ungrateful denizens of the land for coin whilst following the trail to his loved ones. If you have ever played a Witcher game before you will know what to expect, but even if this is your first foray (I would heartily suggest playing the games in order) into the world of Geralt you may be blown away by the sheer depth of the story and characters. Just the amount of people you meet and interact with in the game is scary enough but the writers and voice actors have brought them to life in such a realistic, quirky manner and with such variety that you never get bored meeting new people. In fact, this is the only RPG I have ever played that kept such a tight hold on my senses and kept me interested the whole way through. As well as the first-rate voice acting doing the writing justice, the soundtrack to the game evokes a sense of wonder and history that adds drama and life to every scene, although the music sometimes makes conversations a little hard to understand. The ambient effects are so prolific that every area has its own sonic heartbeat; from rural children laughing in the rain (shouting gleefully about gathering slugs) to merry musicians plying their trade in a city square whilst townsfolk barter with traders, guardsmen bully the poor and prostitutes try to entice you into spending your coin. All the while the wind howls, dogs bark, birds sing and slobs clear their throats and spit noisily onto the street. It may be wonderfully detailed and rich in content but it isn’t always pleasant - in fact it’s far from it. Murder, torture and mutilation abound in this war-torn fantasy kingdom and the suffering of the people on the fringes of society is frighteningly evident as you cross the wide, heavily populated (by creatures both fair and foul) landscape, plying your trade. The sheer diversity of the flora and fauna has to be seen to be believed and the technical wizardry behind CD Projekt RED’s REDengine 3 that allows for every plant in the game to be fully animated (whole trees sway in the wind and there are a LOT of them) brought a smile to my face on many occasion. Fast travelling may have been a necessity at times but travelling the traditional way was a wondrous adventure. Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher with a gruff, scar covered exterior, but a just heart. Slaying beautifully realised monsters that pray on the helpless is but one of his abilities (such as a Batman-like Witcher sense that highlights interactive objects and clues when doing some sleuthing) and at times he has to make tough life-or-death decisions that just don’t feel fair given the already large amount of pain in the world, but that’s what makes this game so special. There are very rarely light and dark solutions and those that seem so can be muddied later with the knowledge of something previously hidden. It makes for such a rich tapestry of tangled tales that a side quest can lead to two or three more and they may well all link to the main quest line by the time you have reached their conclusions. As with the previous games Geralt fights the Witcher way, attacking humans and animals with a steel sword and monstrous beasts with a silver one. His strikes can be either fast or strong; the former being slightly weaker and the latter being slower. You can tune your fighting style as you level up during the game, allowing for better use of the different types of armour, weapons or Witcher signs (which are essentially magic spells you can use to complement your physical attacks). There are a variety of random, over-the-top finishing moves that spray innards and body parts around the immediate area with unabashed sickening delight as he rolls about like an acrobat. I for one loved them and laughed out loud whenever I literally took the legs out from under an enemy. Weapons and armour can also be upgraded with magic runes, so as to turn the tide of a difficult battle that had you defeated many times before and even strengthen your Witcher signs. Armour can be made to withstand certain types of attacks or be stronger, whereas weapons can freeze, burn, poison and much more, especially when coated in one of the many oils you can brew once you meditate (which also heals you and ends all active powers and effects). The inventory is your gateway to everything you need to create potions, oils, weapons, armour or just sell goods for profit to traders, although specialised smiths are needed to make the weapons and armour using your collected plans and materials. I could write so much more about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt but at the end of the day all I can say is that it will be a different experience for everyone and the best experience is your own. It may have some niggling bugs such as bad lip-sync and some graphical anomalies but nothing that ruins the immersion of this wonderfully created virtual world. If you are looking for a happy family game then look elsewhere; if dark, twisted adventure is your want you simply must buy this epic action RPG.

White Wars 12 ATX pc cases review/comparison Approximately price range 45€ to 130€ Greetings GTribers! Many of you already know my how I view the PC Cases and mods on them. So my friends, below you will suffer my reviewing skills of the 12 cases I have chosen with their full specs and my personal opinion about them. You will surely notice that while they look pretty much the same, they have enough variations to make the difference! The budget can be a big issue for some, so I tried to make it as much value for money as it can go. Finally, you might wonder why the bloody white: well it’s more stylish and gave me a nice title for the article! Just kidding, I believe that the this specific cases look better on white, also if you get bored of it you can simply and with pretty low cost to paint it any color you want. Good news for the SITH all the cases below are available on black too. I hope this is helpful! Enjoy! Arranged from the lower to higher price! Here we go with my top 12!

Competitor No.1 The cheapest of the review but certainly a strong contestant. The BITFENIX COMRADE (white edition) has space for 3 x120mm fans and for large coolers as the arctic cooling freezer extreme rev 2.0 of for a 120mm all in one water cooling unit. But is also a very pretty case with smooth black on the inside and white on the outside, having a large window panel and pretty good cable management potentials. The only bad thing I must comment on is the lack of optical drive cover; that would help with the current odd market that is black. In my opinion it’s a very decent case for value for money! Competitor No.2 With no big price difference and pretty similar specs with the competitor No.1, ZALMAN Z3 Plus (white edition) is a very pretty case with large black mess front panel that helps the overall appearance of the build with odds and card readers installed. On this case we have up to 5x120mm fans and the potential of installing a 2X120mm AIO water cooling solution. The window’s shape make it look wild and running it as a decent gaming pc should look great. The only bad thing I can find on this one aesthetically is that the front panel is kinda higher than the rest of the case which makes a little gap on the bottom of the case. Competitor No.3 Something in the middle (aesthetically) of the above two RAIJINTEK AGOS (white edition) looks like the windowless brother of competitor No.2. Again we have a big black mess front panels both 120mm and 240mm all AIO water cooling support and to be honest there’s nothing bad on it if you are not a windowed case fun. Smooth, clean and decent case for any desk. The specs Dimensions W: H: L: Weigh: Material: Window: I/O:

Competitor No.4 Pretty much the same as the competitor No.3 AEROCOOL VS-92 (white edition) is a no window solution style, with a little LCD thermometer above the big black mess front panel. Multiple fan installation places, 120mm and 240mm AIO water cooling and large space for GPUs. Generally this case is massive and spacious totally recommended for the no window enthusiasts. Also you can mod it and give it window hard loop and fancy LEDs. The specs Dimensions W: H: L: Weigh: Material: Window: I/O: Mobo suport: Fans: Extras:

Competitor No.5 Here we have a favorite of mine, pretty similar to the competitor No.1. The SHARKOON REX8 VALUE EDITION (white edition) has large space that compliments the airflow of the case plus the cable management is a great help too, 2x120mm fans to install (already blue led pre-installed), mess 5.25” bays, basic dust filters and the ability to install fancy 160mm high CPU coolers like the beastly BE QUIET! DARK ROCK PRO 3 makes this case the perfect case for a value beast pc. It has the issue with the odds but in that case the black mess on the 5.25” bays makes a nice trick and it doesn’t look that ugly. IMO is a case that you can fit any necessary for a decent machine while keeping the temps pretty low and I suggest the Zalman Reserator 3 Max as the prefect AIO for this one. Competitor No.6 The SILVERSTONE SST-RL04W is like a rival to the competitor No. 4. IMO you can get the Aerocool for less € and have the same performance but if you want to add a 169mm like cooler that’s enough to fit a monstrous AKASA VENOM MEDUSA and still have enough space, then this is your case. Competitor No.7 When you have a list of stylish pc cases you can’t leave out IN WIN GT1 (white edition). Product of a company with the most elegant designs. Does the same trick with the competitor No.5 that saves the overall appearance with the black mess 5.25” bays. Pretty good cooling power with up to 6 fans, AIO support 120mm of 240mm huge acrylic window and unique look on the front panel this case is a real beauty. Don’t forget there’s an HDD/SSD hot swap bay on the top of it that helps a lot. Also if you need a couple more fans you can go for the no window edition. Probably the best value for money solution! Competitor No.8 What can I say about this one! Its name says it all, AEROCOOL MECHATRON WHITE STEEL EDITION. A robotic shape with rough lines black mess on the front panel, mess top, mess side and bottom this case can cut your breath if you go close enough. Spacious and ready to keep cool the most demanding system but the lack of fan filters is a huge problem since it makes the case a huge dust collector, still it’s a manageable problem if you are willing to spend some more € and time on your build. Then again we have all the AIO water cooling and Air cooling qualities of all the above combined. A total showoff that can pop out any closed desk and still keep things cool in it with a look that kills. The specs Dimensions W: H: L: Weigh: Material: Window: I/O: Mobo suport: Fans: Extras:

Competitor No.9 It may lack 5.25” bays but it has the look and the airflow to run pretty cool a system with a 120mm AIO water cooler and a Furry X in the most beautiful way. Imagine a full black red system in it. Yes NZXT H340 (white edition) has two SSD mounting points over the PSU cover and two hidden under it, slick white paintjob with smooth black interior, up to 4x120mm fans and an enormous acrylic window is all what you need. If you are not a custom loop enthusiast this case is a wet dream on the other side if you are there’s her big hot sister H440 that you already know her beauty and abilities. Competitor No.11 Sexy as it gets with straight and clean look the THERMALTAKE CHASER A31 (white edition) have the space and the right attitude for a serious gaming rig. Compatible with both 120mm and 240mm AIO water cooling systems or 160mm Air cooling units and a couple more intake fans is all that you need with only exception the kinda ugly IMO window but with a face like that I can forget this little issue. Competitor No.12 PHANTEKS ENTHOO PRO (white edition) is my last and the top of the list by being one of the class that sets the thin line between standard ATX and the enormously big towers. With a design similar to the NZXT H440 but with more space and abilities this beast have it all room for long cards 5.25” bays that even a black ODD wouldn’t look bad on this beast case. Ready to be hard moded, ready accept 360mm AIO water cooling systems like DeepCool Gamer Storm Captain 360 and really I can’t find an Air cooler so big to fill the 193mm space. Clean design, a unique window design on the side panel and a big cooling solutions variety is the key features that make me love this case. Simple, clean and efficient. This case is not overpriced at all for what you get and I’ll just leave it to the specs. The specs Dimensions W: H: L: Weigh: Material: Window:

GT Interviews John Schmeltzer by Alex Kaziakos
F
or this issue’s interview, we chanced upon John Schmeltzer, sorry, my bad, THE John Schmeltzer! A small introduction about John! Well, my opinion really, but I honestly believe this is true for most! John is extremely passionate about Gaming Tribe; it’s vital that we begin from this. He is a Community Volunteer and he is clearly the best man for the job: whenever there is a problem, John is ALWAYS on it. Literally. And we are not just talking small stuff like a user can’t see that, comment on that or anything; he is always actively trying to make GT a better place and that includes facing folks that are likely to hurt our community or help mold a new Triber to a real Triber and make him understand that we are not like the other places of the Internet. He is polite and kind and born to be a leader. Personally, I view him as the right-hand man of Alex Anderson and he is doing a great job with it. John, besides his duties as a CV and just being a Triber, he supports every project for GT that is made by the Tribers. CGN and TRIBIC have both benefited from him and he is also the creator of the Gaming Tribe User Manual, made by a handful of Tribers with John on the lead, which is a complete guidebook for everything that the Triber might require! He is also known to have begun pretty much all interactive activities in GT in the form of statuses. He is a great man, funny and something that I noted a little while back, he has a bloody great voice; I mean absolutely great one! He could easily pass for a voice actor! Not like the legend David Hayter (damn you Kojima for that!) but definitely a high level one! But enough of this stuff! We interviewed him hard so let’s see how he fares by the truly most awesome Triber of this community, which is backed up by YOU wonderful and more awesome Tribers! Enjoy! Alex: Hello John! Thanks for agreeing for having this interview with me! It means a lot to me! Before I go on, I just want to say to the readers that John here was the one who first showed me the ropes and helped when I was still fresh blood here in Gaming Tribe. In fact, I vividly remember him being the one that reprimanded me after the usage of a curse word I used in a status of mine! In my opinion, he is one of the most passionate men that I know here in GT and he is the reason the magazine received its name. TRIBIC was first used as a word and as a deeper meaning by John and I was the one that took that name and turned into something else. But I am glad I did! Now, I will have to start with the obvious question, what do you of the magazine so far? Do you like where it’s headed or how things have already been done? What would you see changed? John: From the very start, I’ve loved the idea of TRIBIC. Every GTriber is familiar with some publication in the form of a magazine. But TRIBIC is unique. The content is created by gamers that love gaming. It’s all too common to have articles created for the sake of a paycheck and John Schmeltzer forget the passion we all have for gaming as a whole. I love seeing honesty unbiased content with each issue and discovering the talents that so many GTribers have. I would love to see the magazine double in size. There are a lot of GTribers out there that in sure would love to contribute in one way or another. Alex: Thank you for your kind words! You can rest assured that we are trying our best to give out the best we possibly can! Now, there are many that will argue about you being the most active member of Gaming Tribe. You are much more active in the community than some of the staff and there are also many that view you as the member closest to that rank, if we may call it that. However your real rank is that of a Community Volunteer. Although we already have had Stephanie Young explain a few things about that wonderful rank, could you tell what a CV really is? What do you get from it, what do you gain, what do you do as a CV? Some might say that we CVs are some sort of moderators. Do you believe that to be true in some extent or not? John: I don’t think it’s really a point of argument, but I am one of the most active members of the community for one reason only. I am extremely passionate about what our community stands for. I love that this is the safest place on the internet for ALL gamers. GamingTribe is free of all social restrictions. Everyone can feel welcome no matter what their differences are. No social, monetary, or age limitations are found here. Everyone can be a GTriber!! I honestly don’t understand why anyone would think that members of the Community Volunteer Team would be moderators in any way. Members of the Community Volunteer Team are GTribers just like anyone else that have a passion for the community and want to help the community out by being a guide, or Sherpa, to the rest of the community. Those GTribers that make up the Community Volunteer Team don’t get any perks. Nothing. No free GOD Mode, no games or items from sponsors, and NO special treatment from the staff. Volunteers are held to the same expectations as the rest of the community and should be an example of correct posting habits, social interaction, and the lifestyle of a GTriber. As a Community Volunteer, the only responsibilities that we have is to watch and guide the community. Yes, sometimes this means messaging or calling out GTribers when they are not following the guidelines of the community, but this is always to be done in the spirit of guidance, not reprimanding. We have no special powers to ban or delete. If some people feel that in doing so, Community Volunteers are moderating the community, they are mistaken. I’m actually the Assistant Community Manager under Alex Anderson. I’m still a community volunteer, I’m not a staff member, and just like Alex I’m not paid either. All members of the community volunteer team are not paid and are fully volunteers, Including Alex Anderson. Alex: A great answer, if I may be so bold. Don’t know if you knew this, but there are currently 49 Community Volunteers in the site. Personally, I have had folk come to me and tell me that we are too many, hold no real authority (although we have already explained that we don’t) and something that really comes up lately, that we are really stuck up to the rules. I believe that every site, especially a social media site that respects itself NEEDS to have a set of rules and the members
28
of said site need to first read them and if they accept them abide by them. But not all read them, which is why we are there to help them! Personally, I don’t like every rule of Gaming Tribe, but I respected from the very beginning because they made sense to me. However, not all feel that way! What would you say to those that we are too strict about them rules? Would you as a member like to see something change or be enforced more? John: So as far as the rules go. They are in place to keep our community clean and welcome for everyone. That’s the simple answer and I could elaborate if asked. Also, with those that have concerns or complaints about the rules, I can address specific concerns if I have more details. One thing I know for sure, I’ve not seen a single person that has had such a big complaint, that they’ve left the community completely. For our community policies. They are there to keep the community clean, clear, and welcoming to ALL gamers. There is a culture in gaming that has gone on for too long. Some people call it toxicity, I call it classless and disrespectful. Our language policy enables us to respect others and build relationships as gamers. Vulgarity, profanity, or disrespect is completely against what our community stands for. Plain and simple. Gamingtribe isn’t another forum, it isn’t a Facebook page, and it certainly isn’t a team chat in any popular MOBA. Our policies make our community unique. GTribers area higher class, and it will remain that way. I personally believe there are the right amount of guidelines within our policies. It gives us the freedom to explore our fellow GTribers and make new friends, while removing behaviors that have ignorantly been accepted as common behavior in any other network. Community volunteers are not moderators. They hold no special abilities. Volunteers are guides for the community. In both behavior and teaching. Those that don’t accept the rules are welcome to leave, but few ever do. If anyone has a concern and would like to understand the policies better, they are free to message me or any of the other volunteers at any time for clarification Alex: That is a great answer my friend. I too believe that, which is why I spend so many hours trying to make Gaming Tribe better and I will keep supporting until all what you just said remain true. I also believe that GT is a place that is worth dedicating time to and not just because of the giveaways or the clean sheets and all; these cannot hold a community for too long together. I like using curse words myself, but it doesn’t trouble me much not using them. Those who believe that we have strict rules have not seen much of our world. Those who have seen it but still can’t accept some guidelines, well, they are welcome to leave in my eyes! But enough of that sad business! We both talked that we as Gaming Tribe are completely different from any other community in the whole bloody world! What you think makes us so different? What are the best qualities you can find in Gaming Tribe in your opinion that is not easily found elsewhere? John: So many things are unique to Gamingtribe. The biggest one in my mind is the quality of our members. No community has the passion AND the respect that our members hold. I’m so proud to call myself a GTriber. Of course we have giveaways that nobody else can match. Our community is growing. We have full control over our privacy. Nobody else can offer an experience completely absent of invasive advertising either. Alex: That’s all well and good, but now I think it’s time we shifted our focus on something else my friend.. You! How did you find this place? How on earth do you manage over 3000 friends in you feed? What kind of games do you like to play? Who are you John Schmeltzer? John: Well you want to know about little old me huh? Well I honestly found Gamingtribe after searching for pc giveaways online. I found Gamingtribe and fell in love with the community right away. I’m the son of a Nintendo mom and a D&D dad. Grew up playing it all. Age of empires, sonic, Mario, James Bond, Baldur’s Gate, Farmville. I don’t think there’s a genre I haven’t played. I’ve been married for 2 1/2 years to an amazing wife that has really been the much needed bug fix to my adult life DLC. I’ve been a huge fan of MMOs for a long time but my favorite game right now is The Secret World by Funcom. When I joined the community, I actually didn’t have anyone I worked with or knew that enjoyed gaming. Or so I thought. As I got more active with Gamingtribe, I started to listen to what people would say when they talked about super hero movies and I found my “in” to bring up Gamingtribe and gaming. I’ve had a hand full of Co workers join the community just through simple conversation. Now as far as my online friends go, that’s a different story. After a few months of being a member of Gamingtribe, I approached the idea of joining the community volunteer team. Once I had a conversation with Alex Anderson, I found a whole new desire to contribute and support Gamingtribe. My friends list grew adi looked for members that may need new or more friends. This was simply done by conversations, introducing myself, and interacting on sponsor posts. There are no strangers on Gamingtribe, only friends you haven’t met yet. I’m a gamer, a husband, a business man, a student, and an adventurer. Alex: Now, let’s shift our focus back to Gaming Tribe for a bit. You are known to be the one man behind everything that is interactive on GT and you created the GT Manual for every Triber to use. So far to my knowledge, there are only a handful of GT activities that allow some form of interactivity or uniqueness as a community. What would you like to see more in Gaming Tribe and what would you advise anyone wishing to start something, or those that are already doing something for the site? John: When it comes to interactivity events, there are a lot of options. Right now we have CGN (Community Game Night) that some of our volunteers do on Wednesdays in the European evenings There are plenty of activities done through hashtags within the community that encourage sharing of screenshots, games, opinions, experiences, and knowledge. The one thing I’d like to see more of is gaming. GTribers reaching out and gaming with each other. If you want to start something, just start posting it and GTribers will show up eventually. To help spread the word, our community volunteers can help get it out there. Alex: I believe it’s time to wrap this up John! I believe we covered pretty much everything, so the next question is more about the future! What are your plans as a Triber for the future of this community and where do you think GT will be in let’s say.. 1 year from now? John: As a GTriber, I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing. I’m working hard, playing hard. I want to bring all gamers to our community. The best place for me to do that is as a member of the community. I can’t wait to roll out some of the community projects I have in the works. Gaming Tribe is going to be bigger than ever! I’m planning my own personal build next year and it will be a fun project to work on. One year from now, many things can happen and we’re all in control of our own experiences and what we take from them. I’m very optimistic and excited for what our community and my own personal future has to offer.
Alex: Thank you very much for your time John! Hope the best for you and looking forward to those community projects! John: Absolutely! Anyone interested in community projects can contact me directly to get involved or bring in new ideas!

Old but Gold Legend of Zelda by Mark Krijgsman
Nintendo JP:21-02-1986 (famicon) U.S.A.: 22-08-1987 (nes) Eu:11-15-1987 (nes)
When I took on Old but Gold T told myself I would not go for the easy ones. And yet here I am with what I consider an easy one, but one cannot talk about evolution in gaming without this game. I also felt that I could not do Old but Gold justice by not writing about this game. The legend of Zelda......A game that will have people salivate and look at it with nostalgia goggles so big that they will forgive the game’s rougher edges. But I am here to look at this game objectively , so you may not agree with my findings and ratings, but it is how I feel the game is stacking up right now. Trust me on this, I like this game but replaying it for Old but Gold makes me view it differently and take off my own nostalgia goggles. Well here goes.

T
he legend of Zelda is an fantasy adventure game made by designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It was released by Nintendo in 1987 for the NES (Nintendo entertainment system.) Before this game saw the light f day games tended to be more arcady. Yes even Super Mario Bros is an arcade style game. With arcade style I mean the game had a set amount of lives and checkpoints, They may not be midgame like we know now but the jumping on the flag at the end of the level for Super Mario Bros was a cleverly hidden checkpoint. The Legend of Zelda had none of this. Were people used to looking for behavior and patterns in the enemies behavior, The legend of Zelda took those gamers sat them down and laughed in their face. Suddenly the algorithms used for the movement of the many enemies in the game were randomized, no matter how smart and good you were in recognizing the patterns of the space invaders or even the computer controlled opponent in pong, there was not a single pattern to be found in the legend of Zelda, making every encounter you had with the enemies tense and difficult. Add to this that there even was an enemy that loved to cobble up your big magic shields , leaving you with the small shield. Gamers were shocked that this game was this freaking hard, and then they did not even play the secondary quest yet. Ah yes the side quests, back in those days one could see the side quests of Zelda as the Demon Souls of its time. Sure the game did not need to be tricky and unforgiving, the game was just hard, with even more randomized patterns , different castle locations, stronger enemies, and enemies had different attacks then in the original quest. The new randomized algorithm/behavior of the enemies was not the only thing that made the game tough as nails and rather unique for its time. Oh no there was more. What to think about the game save system , where you could enter your name and not just 3 initials, sure there was a limit to the length of the name you could enter but it was possible to enter your name. This save system was at the moment unique, like I previously said most games were arcade style games, where you got to play for as long as you did not get beaten. The Legend of Zelda had a save system that was on the cartridge itself with a battery that kept it active. Suddenly you were not forced to spent hours on end to play Zelda, you could save the game ( upon death) and then continue when you wanted. Ok the save system was not flawless, you had to die to save( although there was a way around this) What was also new to the gaming landscape was that there was an actual good reason for you to go to all the castles. And defeat all these enemies. When we look at Mario again the only back story we got was that king koopa took the princess and Mario had to go save her, and she was not in the castle you just been so you went onto the next to see if she was there. Yes this sounds simple but if you look at it this was the story and motivation of Mario. For Link (the protagonist was named Link because he was the link between our world and that of Hyrule) there was a more tangible reason for him to go to 8 different castles and defeat the bosses there, It was to get the Triforce of wisdom and beat Ganondorf and save the princess, as Ganondorf had taken her and stolen the Triforce of power to become the ruler of Hyrule. This made Zelda, the princes of Hyrule, break the Triforce of wisdom into 8 pieces and hid them over the land. And made her Maid Impa go out to find the man brave enough to collect the

pieces and beat Ganondorf. The story line of Legend of Zelda got a little convoluted with all the games in the series being made canonical but not in chronological order, I am not going into that as I am just reviewing the first game here and not its sequels. The game used basic Adventure tropes like those that were used in the Zork trilogy. Things like needing a raft or ladder to get past certain gaps and continue in certain castles. The game can be considered open world as you were not restricted in where you went, but also was a structured open world as you needed certain items to get past or even into certain castles, Like needing the magic flute to get to the 7th castle in the pond and the candle to get to the 8th castle that was underground and its entrance hidden by a bush/tree. What makes this game still golden to this day is for sure the randomized algorithm of the enemies and the sheer difficulty of the game, Sure right now the game will not be as tough for most of us as it was the first time we played it, seeing we gotten so used to having intricate A.I. In games. But even with that, the game is still not easy. Who doesn’t remember seeing those knights(that totally look like cats in armor) ran up to them and started stabbing them only to have them raise their shield and block you ...... Making you either run screaming in fear as you thought they were unbeatable or tried to do the thing you had to do and stab them in the back (that’s just mean Link, really) And what to think about the endless mountain that needed a certain path to get to the 5th castle. ( yes I am aware the 8th castle in Super Mario Bros had this too, that is why that castle in Super Mario Bros was hard to finish until you knew the path you had to take) This second quest worked like I said before with even more randomized algorithm, new item and castle locations and new enemy attacks, for example, the skeletons before just walk, now those jerks now also threw magic swords at poor Link! I can talk a long time about the game but I think that I will keep it short this time, but elaborate on the scoring some more than I usually do. Like I said in the Old but Gold before this, it is so hard to not give the game 5G’s and be done with it, as I really like this game. But the scoring has to be objective, and thus some scores will get some scrutiny by people who love this game to death. Verdict: I will once again break the aspects down and score them accordingly from 1G as being rather Meh to 5G as being close to perfect. You will see some more and different scorings this time as i am looking into crating a set way of doing ld but gold. Story: 5G out of 5 One of the few 5G’s I ever gave out. The story might be a little simple and most of us young kids might have missed it ( we weren’t told to wait for the story we were told to press start) but the story is actually series worthy, one could make a TV series out of the story. Yet like I said we were not aware that there was a story when the game started with the start button and when you entered your name screen placed Link in a field next to a cave where he got his sword. When we look at the story that is told when we did not touch the controller, the game starts make little sense as Link seemingly saved Impa from Ganondorfs henchmen and felt so
32
strong about justice that he decided to save the princess, but how did he save her without a sword. Still this little thing is not worth of subtracting a G from the rating. Graphics: 2G out of 5 I have to be harsh here and say the graphics did not age that well, even with the rise in pixel art the game is not all that pretty , still I give the game 2G’s and not less as the game has its charm in its ugly big graphics and jerky motions of the larger enemies. I could have given this game a abysmal 1G for the same rooms in the castles with only enemies as a variation. But I did not as the outside of the castles make up for it a lot! They elevate the game above that dreaded 1 G , but I am sad to stick with what I said: that the game did not age well in the graphics. Gameplay/Difficulty: 5G out of 5 The game is not as tough as it was back in the day but the gameplay is rock solid, everything makes sense, everything does what it is supposed to do. Hacking with your sword and blocking with your shield is easy to do but at the same time hard to figure out as the enemies do not follow a set path, it is possible to get 3 stones from an enemies in a row and then in a long time none. And not to forget the shield eating enemies, when you saw these you panicked, shields cost gems and losing your magical shield to be left to your small wooden shield was frustrating. If anything the gameplay and difficulty are the saving grace of the game and to this day a good challenge, and not because one needed pixel perfect accuracy ( looking at you BattleToads) but because the game was so new in its randomized enemy movement. The music is almost as legendary as the title but after hearing the same loops over and over they get a little repetitive , but this is something I will not hold against the game as the music is so darn good in its 8bits.
The game also Scores that coveted 5th G because of the impact it had on the game world, one can say that games were never the same again after the Legend of Zelda. There for the game scores a well deserved 4G’s Final thoughts. The game did not age well in the graphics department and even the sound is a little repetitive . The game however is not at all bad and the game play is rock solid and for a game that is 29 years old still better than some games I have played in pixel art recently. The Difficulty of the game is less now then back in its release days but is still nice to tackle. The game is a great game to give to children who are just starting in video gaming, even if the game is a lot older then they are. The Legend of Zelda is just one of those games you have to have played, even if it was to see the harder second Quest, or to be able to boast you beat the game without dying even once.
Replayability: 3G out of 5 The problem with Zelda is that after you finished the second quest there is no real reason to play the game again, don’t get me wrong the game is so much fun to play again once in a while, but the placement of the items does not change over the course of the first and second quest, The only reason one would replay the game soon after completing both quests was to see how fats one could finish the game this time and to see if he could find some of the items he might have missed , as it was totally possible to miss the eternal candle and the skeleton key items on the first play through. But beyond that there is not much need to do it all over again. But the thing that got the game that 3rd G is the fact that the legend of Zelda is an amazing “Once in a while “game. You might have forgotten some locations or the path in the endless mountain. Originality: 5G out of 5 With the games blend of adventure and RPG elements this game was really original in its day. This was also complimented by the random movement of the enemies. I have to be honest here and say that the randomness of the enemies elevated it above a 4G rating. As a lot of the things had been done before by other games RPGs existed before Zelda, even the loss of items to certain enemies was done before in other games like in Super Mario bros where one could get the fire flower and then go back to being just Mario, although this was more in an arcade style setting.

PC Configs by Ivan Marijanović TRIBIC Transformed PC Configurations For this issue of TRIBIC’s awesome PC configurations we have a special transformation of the PC configurations section. This time we will have two gaming configs, one more budget friendly DirectX12 optimized and one expensive but that can offer the best when it comes to smooth gameplay. Smooth gameplay? Yep, that one is optimized with eliminating framedrops and smoothing frames in mind. And what does the DirectX 12 optimization mean? It means the rig is perfectly capable of full Windows 10 and DirectX 12 feature level 12 support.
First we have the DirectX 12 optimized platform for around 700$ USD. CPU MBO MBO RAM HDD CASE ODD PSU
AMD FX-Series X6 6300 3.5GHz,14MB,95W,AM3+, FD6300WMHK Gigabyte 970A-DS3P, AM3+, AMD 970 SB950, 4x DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866 ASUS STRIX-GTX950-DC2OC-2GD5-GAMING, NVIDIA GeForce, GTX 950 DDR3 8GB (1x8GB) Kingston, HyperX Fury, 1866MHz, CL10 TOSHIBA 1TB, 7200rpm, SATA 6 Gb/s, 32MB, DT01ACA100 Cooler Master K280, MIDI, black, USB 3.0 DVD LG GH24NS, DVD±RW, 24x DVD±R ,8x DL , 40x CD-R CORSAIR 430W, CX430M, CX Series Modular, EPS12V v2.3
The AMD FX 6300 CPU was chosen for a single reason – it’s the cheapest 6-core CPU and it seems that DirectX 12 scales well up to 6 cores (based on the FutureMark 3DMark API Overhead test) which makes that CPU a good choice for next gen titles. For the motherboard, the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P was chosen. It’s an AM3+ board cheaper than 80$ USD on most markets; it’s got everything most people need and it supports from the old AM3 CPU-s to the latest FX 8-cores (excluding the FX 9000 series). The choice of the GPU fell on the nVidia GTX 950, a newly released card that has just the right amount of power for 1080p but does not break the cash barrier. With the RAM we will go with the Kingston HyperX Fury Black 1866 MHz DDR3, a single 8 GB stick. The RAM should come at below 80$ too. For the Hard Drive, a mechanical Toshiba DT01ACA100 1000GB drive has been chosen. It offers a good price/performance ratio and costs about 60$. The Cooler Master K280 case looks decent, features good build quality and enough room for the mentioned parts. The choice of the PSU fell on the Corsair CX 430W Semi-Modular. More than enough for the build, enables good cable management and the most important part – it runs quiet. The optical disk drive needs no mention; those are cheap and some people don’t even need one.
34
Second comes the Intel CPU basedno-lag no-frame-drops Ruby Red Dragon for 2345$. CPU MBO RAM Cooler HDD SSD PSU Case GPU
Intel Core i5-5675C (4M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz) Box ASRock Z97-KILLER, s1150, Intel® Z97 2x DDR3 8GB (1x8GB) Kingston, 2400MHz, 1.5V, CL11, Savage COOLER MASTER V8 GTS HDD Seagate 2TB, Serial ATA III, 7200 rpm, DESKTOP SSHD,ST2000DX Kingston SSD 240GB HyperX Savage, 2.5”, SATA 3 6G, R/W:560/530 Corsair 760W, AX Series, modular, ATX, ATX12V v2.31 Corsair Graphite Series 730T Full Tower Case MSI GTX980Ti Gaming 6GB DDR5
The i5 5675C Broadwell CPU was chosen over the new Skylake CPU-s because it features 128MB of L4 cache memory, the thing that makes it the best gaming CPU on the market. In games it beats those Skylakes and even those LGA2011 6+ core CPU-s. The L4 cache allows it to have a smother experience with far less framedrops in games no matter the details used. The choice of the motherboard falls on the AsRockFatal1ty Z97 Killer. Because the board has Killer LAN onboard. The Killer LAN is one of those cards that improves the throughput and can get you lower pings and delays in online games when compared to most onboard LAN cards. With the ram, we’ll go with 16 gigabytes of the Kingston Savage 2400 MHz ddr3 RED– it’s amongst the fastest ddr3 ram (reaches ddr4 frequencies) and it’s red so it complements the motherboard and the rest quite nicely. Since this is a dragon, a good cooler is needed to keep it cool – cool means no throttling and more overclocking headroom. The CM V8 GTS is one of the best air coolers and guess what – it’s black & red like the rest of the build. For the OS, the games and the storage we have a 240 GB fast SSD drive. Ofc it’s red. And a two terabytes solid state hybrid drive. Trust us, in this config a hard drive won’t cause a stutter. This system requires a fair bit of power, so a modular Corsair AX 760W is here for the task. The color scheme was also considered, it does not ruin the looks of the build. For the case, the choice fell on a full tower Corsair 730T case with glowing red fans, superior cooling options and room for more than everything. And at the end, but not the least important, is a MSI GTX 980 Ti 6GB black&red graphics card. This runs games, we can tell you that. With this system you can play 1080p 144Hz, the better 4K 60 Hz or the best 1440p 144Hz G-sync. Zero lag. Zero framedrops. Smooth like the surface of a ruby.
