Carolyn CJ Jones Forgiveness Mentor, Motivational Speaker, Workshop Presenter
I enjoy finding the gratitude and positivity in situations, such that I live in peace, free from resentment. This is in stark contrast with how I used to be until the age of 48 years old. At that age, I became sober after 30 years of heavy drinking and drugging, all over childhood issues. During my drinking days, I grew to become an angry, bitter, blaming victim. This followed me into sobriety. After four years sober, I discovered a way to forgive my past. The realization I’d forgiven affected me with immediate and immense peace and freedom. I never knew this level of joy existed! It has drastically changed who I am as a person. I no longer pray to God to let me die because I’m so miserable inside. I no longer am bitter, or blaming everyone and everything for my woes; rather, I look within and take responsibility for what I what I find, for what I feel. Doing this empowers me! I enjoy celebrating every aspect of daily life, even the difficult things because it is within these that the miracles of change reside. There are many fun and unusual things I’ve done in my life. While married, I learned with my husband to renovate 2 each of homes, boats, and classic cars. My husband and I owned a timeshare on a houseboat in Lake Powell. It was awesome there! Years later, in Sausalito, California, we owned and lived on a 45-foot classic sailboat while we fixed her up. After the divorce and after a year of sobriety, I gutted and rebuilt in cherry wood the interior of a camper van, then traveled for 3 years around the Western States and Baja, Mexico with my then-kitty, Maynard. The journey of healing has been difficult; I have experienced many hardships, including trauma and abusive behaviors and actions. If there’s one thing I can recall from the process I went through to gain positivity, it is that gratitude for the small things, as well as compassion for those who have offended me, result in forgiveness for the offender… and for myself. The kaleidoscope of life has led me to become grateful for past abuses committed against me. This is because I now realize their purpose – to provide me with a way to relate to others suffering the same abuses, and to use tales of my experiences and my healing so others may heal. From this, my current profession evolved. I currently live 30 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge with my feral kitty, Izzy. Fourteen years have passed and she finally is able to exchange affection with me. During my free time, I enjoy writing, working on my business, designing brochures and marketing materials, tending to my houseplants, and light wood finishing projects. Perhaps my most favorite thing in the world to do is varnish teak wood trim on classic
boats. Since leaving my 27-year career as a registered nurse, I have become a multi-award-winning author for my first book and currently now a #1 bestselling author for my second. I began my current business when I became a forgiveness mentor in 2014. I guide others to find their way beyond anger and resentment to that place of peace and freedom that exists when they forgive. My services and products are varied and comprehensive. Books are the products I offer – Opening the Gates of the Heart: A Journey of Healing was my first. This book of images of wrought iron gates I photographed and prose I wrote parallels my own journey in recovery. It is a healing journey for anyone, though. My second and recently released book, The Art of Forgiveness: A Promise of Peace is a guide for you to get beyond anger, resentment, and negativity to a place of positivity, gratitude, and forgiveness. These, along with three - #1 International best-selling anthologies, and the e-book, In Search of Forgiveness: Getting Past Your Anger to Find the Life You Want, comprise my books. I offer two services. First, I provide private, one-on-one coaching for you if your life is really chaotic and miserable because of resentment, and you want to change that around. There are three programs I offer, each successively longer and in more depth than the previous. I also offer speaking services and workshops. I focus my workshops on those prone to resentment, and have spoken at San Quentin State Prison in California, senior retirement homes, and churches. In the fall, I am teaching one of my signature courses, Freedom from Resentment: The Art of Forgiveness, at the College of Marin, a local college. I am open to speak anywhere my message may be of service to others. It would be negligent of me to ignore the YIPPEE Method – a program of healing I created and designed. YIPPEE is a series of six stages you go through to reach forgiveness, peace, and freedom. It stands for: Yearn, Investigate, Process, Practice, Evolve, and Empower. It was created based on my own journey, so it is useful for those of you who would like to get beyond your chaotic and overwhelming life to a place of peace. These inspire me - kindness that I witness, expressions of gratitude, experiencing a great speaker in the front of the room, and Izzy becoming able to exchange affections. Yet, the thing that inspires me the most to continue with my forgiveness work is the knowledge of the feelings another can have when he/she forgives, and my desire to spread the word about how to get to that place. The next several months are going to be spent marketing my new book, as well as developing my college class. My efforts to gain speaking gigs will continue, as will attempts to gain new private coaching clients. In the future, if my book really takes off and I can gain some speaking gigs outside of the Bay Area and California, I would consider selling my home here, buying a small RV and traveling to book signings. As far as work, I see myself doing forgiveness work in one form or another until my days end…
Carolyn CJ Jones is the ‘Forgiveness Mentor, Motivational Speaker, and a Workshop Presenter. She is a #1 Best Selling Author in ‘The Art of Forgiveness’ A Promise of Peace. ~ Multi-award-winning Author, ‘Opening the Gates of the Heart.’ She was employed as a Nurse Resource Consultant at a State’s Medicaid Department when I took the lead to create a groundbreaking program. It was available to medically fragile, technology dependent children who were living in the hospital to receive nursing care 24/7. What I designed and managed allowed these fragile children to be released from the hospital and cared for in their home with private duty, hourly nursing care in addition to care provided by the parent(s). The program is in existence today. I’d love to be remembered for starting it in the late 80s…

After witnessing her Pomeranian Ms. Charli fight with another small dog, she and her good friend Joe said “gosh, Charli is trying to get her lick back.” The term resonated so deeply because as a child her older siblings and other family would ask people did, they get their lick back if they looked roughed up after a fight. This is the moment she knew just how to brand her organization and Get Your Lick Back was born. This is the reason Tarsha has decided to tell her story in the, I Matter Anthology. This book shines the light on late in life reinvention and encore ‘second half’s’ of diverse individuals. The individuals are in some cases widely known and others are somewhat anonymous to the mass public. The common thread is their ‘post-50’ resurgence in life and in some cases their ‘fork in the road’ is quite serendipitous. Kristin’s third book, in the ‘Is This Seat Taken?’ trilogy Released October 8, 2019. Author “I have written three books in the “Is This Seat Taken®” book trilogy. I speak around the world on these books along with other topics relative to my company: Alignment, Inc. Kristin Kaufman’s Books include: Book #1 - Is This Seat Taken? ® Random Encounters That Change Your Life If you think incidental meetings are incidental – think again. No matter how much we plan as executives, leaders and individuals, the random encounter opens up unforeseen opportunities. Lessons and perspectives on leadership, alignment and the power found in the present moment are discussed and made real through actual stories from Kristin’s widely acclaimed book. Kristin’s book, endorsed by notable leadership gurus such as Stephen Covey, Ken Blanchard, and Noel Tichy, will come alive on stage and have your audience thinking about their everyday moments from a different perspective. Whether the audience is a group of power house executives, type A sales professional, or individuals needing a bit of inspiration, Kristin’s content will ring true to the soul in each of us. Book #2 - Is This Seat Taken? ® It’s Never Too Late to Find the Right Seat This book and keynote is designed for those individuals who have come to a fork in the road, chosen a path, and found themselves twenty to thirty (or more) years later in a destination they didn't quite recognize. The stories are relevant for anyone; at any age, at any station in life that has awakened and wondered what they are going to do next or how will they move forward. The examples offer hope, inspiration, and applicable lessons as derived from the lives of well-known and not-so-famous men and women who found new and unexpected success - by many definitions - late in life. The message will light a spark - whether you are twenty-five or sixty-five - to take back the reins of your life and become clear on exactly what you are going to do now and how you wish to contribute to the world. The music has not stopped, and there is still time to find your seat.
Book #3 - Is This Seat Taken? ® No, I Saved It for You. This book is the last in the trilogy in the Is This Seat Taken? ® Series. This book and associated, keynotes shares a collection of stories which focus on diverse individuals and their experiences who have served as Kristin’s teachers; these experiences vary from the beautiful and the empowering, of the side-splitting humorous, to the crushing and difficult; Yet, the common aspect is that they ‘Providentially’ have taught Kristin lessons, which she vulnerably and authentically shares with her audience. This talk is a compilation of the entire book series focusing on being present in the moment, being awake to learn from all experiences in our lives, and how all these stories factor into our individual quest toward alignment – professionally and personally. The book, and her keynote, wrap up with a few suggestions – which are highlighted in the thought and activity guide at the end of the book – for each person to take the reins of their lives. When we asked Kristin what she would you like to achieve in 2020, she said – quote “I want to continue to stretch, grow, and serve. If I do this well and with purity of intention – the rest will come.”

This conference is designed to encourage others to keep hope and faith in Lord regardless of what their life circumstances look like. It will illustrate how I myself was faced with adversity and how I maintain my faith, hope and trust in God and overcame that challenge. This conference will be at the Hilton Gardens 7979 Willow Chase, Houston, TX 77070. Come join us.
When we asked her to share with us something she overcome or all the success she had achieved; she shared this. “Back in 2006, I left my husband and my life as I knew it was in total chaos and turmoil. Little did I know that God had a plan for my husband and I. The first year of that separation, the Lord dealt with me individually, reveling to me where I went wrong in my relationship with Him and my husband. One day, while in church service, the Holy Spirit came upon me, while I was in communion with God, he told me my marriage would be okay. In 2008, my husband and I reconciled our and united back under one roof.
This past June, we celebrated our 23rd wedding
Anniversary. What I learned from that experience has been invaluable and I minister to married couples now encouraging them to put God in the mist or their relationship because they cannot maintain their marriage on their own strength.” In 2018 my goal was to publish my devotional book and I did. “From A Christian Perspective: Encouragement for Daily Living” can be downloaded for free by gong to Smashwords.com. In 2019, my goal was to host my first Conference and I accomplished that in June. It was a huge success to say I have no idea where to begin with even planning a conference.
God truly amazed me because I asked him to put the resources, I need in my path to help me with this conference and he did just that. I would have never imagined have a radio station air my conference live. I could have never imagined have 50 people in attendance, some who did not even know me or ever heard of me before me advertising this conference. All I can say is but God…

I feel like the sky is the limit, I also feel like now is the best time in society to be multifaceted.” ~ Dorian Bostic When asked about his challenges, Bostic said; “I have overcome many things. I am originally from South Carolina, but my family moved to Baltimore, Maryland when I was young. My initial stay in Baltimore was short lived. I then had to move to Charlotte, North Carolina for a while to live with my father. I then moved back to Baltimore permanently. My family dynamics were not ideal. After moving back to Baltimore my family dynamics changed forever. I was taken from my mother and placed in the foster care system of Maryland and remained there between the ages of 7 to 21 years old. Those years were the most challenging. There were nights I did not have food to eat and I suffered from homelessness. I am truly a walking blessing because now I stand independently figuring out my place in this world.”
We asked Bostic what more would like he like to achieve in 2019/ or 2020; “As we are already in 2019, I would like to finish the semester strong. I would like to pass one of the hardest classes I have ever taken in my life, Quantitative Analysis. Also, I will like to win my second professional fight. Furthermore, I would
like to build my boxing portfolio, stay employed, and grow as a human being. My overall goal is to be an inspiration to the world. Tribute Magazine wishes Dorian Bostic continued success.
