Cover Spotlight Determined The dynamic duo who have a combined history of over 60 years in the gospel music genre. Both anointed men of God met in the early 80’s through their love and commitment to quartet singing. They were mentored by the late Frank Thomas who was affectionately known as “Mr. Boochie”. Their paths would cross regularly at local singing events and anniversaries in various churches from Louisiana to Texas. It was in the summer of 1988 that Bruce decided to form his own quartet group alongside Napoleon.
Napoleon was a very humble and well-rounded singer who had been singing since the age of 12 heavily influenced by his father who was a well-known local singer as well. He was just the voice that was needed to complete the group. This union formed the group known as “The Concert Supremes”. Together they recorded several projects the first of which was in 1989 in Chicago Illinois produced by the late Major Roberson of the world-famous Pilgrim Jubilees. Their album entitled “Don’t Stop” put the group on many stages throughout the
ArklaTex. After singing together for over 10 years the group members began going in different directions, Bruce relocated to Washington State and after over 14 years Bruce would once again relocate back to the south to reside in Houston, Texas which led to the reunion between he and Napoleon. The collaboration was also reignited, that reunion was the catalyst for the single “Going to Church” released in the summer of 2017. “The Man I Am” was released November 5th, 2018 and readily available on all major digital platforms.
It is a compilation of 9 songs set with music and lyrics that will touch the hearts and souls of men, women and children from all walks of life. There is a consistent message that flows through all the songs that believers and non-believers can relate to and it transcends across all genres of music. The well-produced work of art was recorded with the intent of bringing inspiration and encouragement to listeners. The hope and possibilities that are clearly on display will uplift anyone that listens. This project is a must for the music lover and the lovers of life and all its nuances.

Toni E. Washington Toni E. Washington, affectionately known as “Ms. Toni” by the youth and as an “Inner City Guru” by her team and professional leaders alike, has been an advocate for youth development for over 30 years. In 1994, she served as a Lead Youth Counselor for the City of Orlando, Parks, and Recreation Department, which leads to her creating Community Concepts Services, Inc. (C.C.S.I.) due to the lack of advocating for the youth in urban communities; Ms. Washington saw an immediate need for positive programming and mentors to intervene, inspire, and instill hope in our urban youth. She is currently the President and CEO of “Guru Marketing Group, Inc.” where she designs, develops, and brands programs for businesses and implements her own curriculum geared towards parents, youth programs, child advocates, and community leaders. Be Careful How You Speak to yourself!
You will speak the most to yourself! I know you are shocked by that statement. You are saying no I don’t! but yes you do! It may not be out loud but in your head, you are speaking volumes to yourself! Every thought and word you are speaking life and death to yourself! It sets the tone for your day, your week, your business, your family and your life. So, you need to pay more attention to those thoughts and prayers!!
Ask yourself do I build myself up? Am I my own cheerleader? Do I believe in me? In my dreams? In my abilities? Do I say I can do it? Or do I tear myself down? Am I always doubting myself? Am I always reliving my mistakes? Do I continuously tell myself I cannot do it? Take time to think about this. It is really important! If you are not uplifting yourself, it’s time to start! It’s time to stop all of that negative speak! It’s time to start building yourself up! You need to realize your words have power! They can elevate your life or they can take you to the depths of misery. It’s totally your choice! What you say to yourself is more important than what others say about you! You must learn to love you and your flaws and mistakes. You must learn to speak to yourself with grace and love and not with disdain. The words you speak to yourself today will determine your tomorrow! So, start today and change your tomorrow! Lift yourself up, be your own champion, be your own cheerleader and speak love to you!
