FOCUSED ON THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF A GOOD LIFE. Trident United Way

EDUCATION • FINANCIAL STABILITY • HEALTH In a rapidly-changing world, Trident United Way is transforming itself constantly in order to make significant change in our community. Community conditions demand that we do so:

29.5% don’t graduate

Nearly a third of Tri-County students in the 8th grade fail to earn their high school diploma.

33% aren’t financially stable A third of our neighbors are dependent on the rest of us for helping making ends meet at least some of the time.

32% are obese Obesity puts people at risk for preventable chronic diseases.

23% are uninsured

Lack of health insurance forces people to use local emergency rooms.

Trident United Way

LIVE UNITED

Our new 10-year Bold Plan for Bold Change takes our strategic focus on Education, Financial Stability and Health to the next level. Trident United Way proposes to lead a community-wide effort to significantly, measurably improve conditions in these three areas. Trident United Way will lead the way, not be the way. Only by partnering with interested individuals and organizations can we hope to achieve the momentous change we envision by 2020. Our ambitious community goals can be found on the next page, along with ideas about how you can help us achieve them. Thank you for supporting Trident United Way. Together, we can make a tangible difference in our community.

Lonnie Carter CEO, Santee Cooper 2010-2011 Trident United Way Board Chair

COMMUNITY-DRIVEN CHANGE Partnering with diverse organizations to transform the community landscape through research-based collaborations and innovation.
