Bal Dominique: Supporting Financial Assistance The Bal Dominique gala event grew from the Trinity High School Father's Club "Builder's Dinner" in 1964. For thirty years Mother's and Father's Club Presidents were chairs of the event until 1994 when it became a Board of Directors sponsored event. In 2004 the tagline "Supporting Financial Assistance" was added to clearly define the vision and objective for those that support this annual event.

A Letter From the Board Chair W i l l i a m T. P l a n e k

Dear Friends and Family, Welcome to Bal Dominique 2011. The proceeds from this joyous gathering of friends benefit so many deserving students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the Trinity Difference. The financial assistance provided by the generous Trinity community has helped to create a special, diverse institution that is flourishing. The unique Christ-filled spirit and community at Trinity High School enable us to continue to blaze new trails and encourage each student to become self-directed toward responsible participation in the Christian community in order to impact society, church and family. Tonight Trinity and the Board of Directors are proud to honor two alumnae who have truly blazed that trail and made a profound impact on the Trinity Family. They are Carol Giles Parrillo '50 and Triss Brady Meyer '67. Carol Giles Parrillo is an illustrious example of Trinity's bold, pioneering spirit. In 1994, Carol met with Sister Michelle and soon became aware of the growing need for tuition assistance among many young Trinity students. Carol, like many beneficiaries of Catholic education, searched for ways to give back and honor the legacy of the many religious women who devoted their lives to the care and education of countless young people. Without hesitation, she generously offered her financial help. Thanks to Carol, her scholarships were the genesis of the greatly respected Sponsor a Student Program. For the past sixteen years, dozens of Trinity students have been blessed by her heartfelt generosity and have been provided with the basic traditions of the Sinsinawa Dominicans. On behalf of the many women who were able to successfully attain their goals, we hereby honor Carol Giles Parrillo with the prestigious Trinity High School Leadership Award. Triss Brady Meyer '67 is a woman with limitless energy and zeal for Trinity! As a student athlete, T-Club President, faculty member, T-Club Moderator, Mothers Club Chair, past parent, Board Member and Bal Dom AD Book Solicitor Extraordinaire, Triss's passion for Trinity is always "over the limit"! Her example to jump in, take action, and complete the task is a testimony of her passion for her alma mater. Her classmates will attest that she is the engine that "DOES"! As a Member of the Board, Triss fulfilled many roles, most recently on the enrollment committee. Her insight as well as determination to increase enrollment has been rewarded with significantly beneficial results. Triss' continued involvement, despite extreme challenges, raises the bar for fellow board members and makes us proud to honor Triss Brady Meyer with the distinction of Board Emeritus. Bravo to both of these strong Trinity women, and to you, for continuing to create opportunities for so many young women. Have a wonderful evening,

A Letter From the President M i c h e l l e G e r m a n s o n , O. P.

My Dear Friends, A super awesome warm welcome to each of you who have gathered together to celebrate Trinity's most amazing, energized and electrifying spirit! Tonight we gather in friendship to celebrate two outstanding alumnae who have uniquely impacted the heart of Trinity. As you well know the sole purpose of the dollars gained from Bal Dominique go toward supporting students who are in need of financial assistance. Carol Giles Parrillo `50 in her amazing generosity has extended a full tuition scholarship annually since 1994 to use as we see fit. She has made a Trinity education possible for some forty students over these past sixteen years! Carol, your concern for these students speaks volumes of your commitment to the Trinity mission. In receiving the Leadership Award we truly give witness to your generous investment in shaping the lives of young women as they walk Trinity's halls and as they step out into the world. Carol, you are a stellar example of the positive outcomes that result from giving back. Triss Brady Meyer `67 has Trinity in her blood. She speaks and lives the mission. Her journey has taken her from being a Trinity student to teacher, the mother of two alums, to Board member, the "queen of transportation", and the main "persuasion" behind the ad solicitations for the Bal Dominique Ad Book. She's someone you can't say "no" to -- praise Jesus for your charming personality, Triss! Your impact is felt in our spirit and in our success. We are truly indebted to your love of all that is Trinity. It seems only fitting that Triss would receive the status of being a member of the Board Emeritus. Her service is truly unwavering. My heart and the heart of Trinity are overflowing tonight with gratitude, appreciation and love for Carol and Triss, two incredibly dedicated Trinity alums. Friends, your investment in Trinity today, your loyalty to Trinity's future, and your concrete involvement also inspire, energize, and challenge us toward further excellence! What a great return on your investment! What better way to change society than to empower young women to be the very best they can be through the power of an excellent, successful, quality education. We invite each of you to walk the halls of Trinity and witness the return on your investment. A warm hospitality, a happy spirit, students excited in learning, and a drive for excellence await your visit. Truly, you must be aware how very much we depend upon your prayers, your strong involvement and your financial support for the successful attainment of our mission and vision! Together we are a community, a family, friends connected to a dream made possible! I thank you each for the specialness of you. Stay ever close to the heart of Trinity. The blessing of the Trinity,

Sister Michelle Germanson, O.P. President 7574 West Division Street T

A Letter From the Principal A n t o n i a C . B o u i l l e t t e , P h . D. Dear Friends of Trinity, It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this year's Bal Dominque and thank you for your support of our Trinity students. As we seek to educate the young women of the Chicagoland area in the fine tradition of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, we find that we need you more than ever and we are grateful to you for your partnership in this endeavor. It is our dream that every young woman capable of receiving a Trinity education would not be barred from participating in the richness of that Trinity education for financial reasons. We work to provide each Blazer with a strong Catholic education, a strong academic foundation, and a well-rounded experience in athletics, fine arts, club activities and service to others. We at Trinity, both faculty and staff, strive to help our students in developing skills for lifelong learning, in creating an ethic of care, and in pursuing the desire for excellence. Trinity students are actively involved in every facet of their education. Blazers study hard, amassing many academic awards and scholarships; they participate in athletics both as teammates, managers and as fans. Over fifty percent of the student body participates in some kind of fine arts activity, in either the performing or visual arts. Students take part in campus ministry activities with great enthusiasm, leading retreats, serving as readers and Eucharistic ministers at liturgies, and giving direct service to those less fortunate. They participate in over thirty clubs and every club performs some kind of community service. Even with all of this activity, Trinity students manage to work part time to help their parents pay for their Trinity education. As families face these difficult economic times, their students' educational experience is at risk. Many parents depend upon two incomes and are often taking care of aging parents and helping other family members to get by. Your assistance to our students is crucial, not only for these families but for our society in general. Our graduates become health care professionals, teachers, lawyers, government workers and business people who serve on boards and actively work in their communities to help others. Students leave Trinity well prepared for a life of service and with a strong sense of their obligation to help others. We need you to help them now so that they can help others in the future. Your support truly makes a difference in their lives as they carry on the Trinity tradition of servant leadership. Thank you so much for helping us make this happen again this year. Enjoy the evening! Sincerely yours,

Antonia C. Bouillette, Ph.D. Principal

The Trinity Leadership Award Carol Giles Parrillo ‘50 For over ninety-three years, Trinity High School has dedicated itself to guiding young women in developing skills for lifelong learning. As a student, Carol Giles truly learned and lived that mission. In 1950 she was a college bound senior from Trinity High School who joined a prestigiously small percent of the female population that matriculated to higher education. Degreed in art, Carol taught and then married Bill. Together they began their most passionate careers, becoming the Parrillo Family and inaugurating the Parrillo family business -- Safeway Insurance. Carol continued to impact society, church and family, another tenet of the Trinity Mission, as she raised their children, invested her time and energy in volunteering, specifically for Misericordia and worked in close partnership to grow the family business. Eventually as the family flourished, Carol branched out in a new career path and is presently a Vice President of Mesirow Financial Services. She and Bill continue to focus on causes that affect the greater good and most recently took a leadership position by adding their name to the Elmhurst Memorial Center for Health. Meeting with Sister Michelle in the mid 90's, Carol was made aware of the increasing need of financial assistance for many Trinity students. Recognizing the impact of her own Trinity education and impressed with the positive direction of Trinity academics, Carol offered to help assist student tuition on an annual basis. Today, Trinity High School has a Sponsor a Student Program that was formalized as a result of Carol's sixteen years of scholarship philanthropy! Because of Carol's foresight and generosity, dozens of young women have been empowered to seek their dreams and attain their goals. As a result of Carol's example many of these young women now give back and assist other Trinity students just as they were once helped. That's impact! Tonight the Trinity community is deeply proud of our alumna, Carol Giles Parrillo, for her exemplary leadership. She is a woman who recognizes the power of philanthropy and has made a truly significant difference in others' lives. Her family has said of Carol, "She's just always there for you"! On behalf of the numerous students who have been recipients of your generous assistance and as a result, able to obtain a Trinity education, we honor you, Carol, with the Trinity High School Leadership Award and "for being there for us"!

Board Emeritus Honoree Triss Brady Meyer ‘67 Trinity High School is blessed with truly dedicated individuals who keep the best interests of the students foremost in their sight. Triss Brady Meyer '67 exemplifies this dedication as she continued to advance her alma mater well past her four student years, her years as a faculty member, moderator, Mothers Club President, Recruitment Director, Advisor and finally Board of Director. It was her involvement on the Board Development Committee that expanded her sense of philanthropy. She willingly reached out to others to raise greater awareness of her beloved Trinity High School and its needs. During her two Board terms she was actively engaged in soliciting funds for the Technology Project and the new SMG Athletic Facility, an endeavor that was close to her heart. An avid athlete and major supporter of the infamous T-Club, Triss was thrilled to be able to get others excited and invested in this vital campaign to house the growing THS Athletic program. When Triss' Board obligations ended she still was very much connected to Trinity's needs. Her mother, Catherine (Putt) Kelly Brady '40 gave Triss the gift of this education and she in turn shares that gift with two annual scholarships to deserving students through the Brady/Meyer Scholarship. Additionally, the book you are enjoying this evening is the formidable size, in part, because of her dedication to the Bal Dominique Program Book Campaign for almost two decades! Triss hales from a legacy of Kelly’s and Brady’s -- her mother, aunts, and cousins, and has left her own legacy with two daughters, Katie and Margaret -- all Trinity alumnae. Perhaps it was the influence of powerful women that charged her spirit! Wherever or whenever that fire was ignited, Trinity is so thankful to have its light, and its source, Triss Brady Meyer. It is with pride, respect, and admiration that we assemble tonight to bestow the Board Emeritus title to Triss Brady Meyer '67. Trinity is honored to have you join this distinguished group of Board Emeritus, as they are honored to welcome you. "I want to thank Trinity for presenting me with this unique award. It has been my pleasure to be associated with Trinity since 1963 in various positions: student, coach, teacher, alumnae president, recruitment director, Mother’s Club president, Board member and volunteer. Trinity's tradition of giving all her students an excellent Catholic academic education is truly a gift. Thank you for this gift and also for keeping me busy for the last 47 years!"
