WELCOME

What could be nicer than spending summer by the Thames? Well for me, it’s spending summer by the Thames while being entertained by some of the world’s brightest young dancers and musicians. The summer is festival season of course, and we’re presenting not one but two musical celebrations: the Royal Greenwich String Quartet Festival and the Inside Out Jazz Festival. We’re also offering a pair of theatrical wonders: Britten’s magical opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the frankly hilarious murder mystery musical Lucky Stiff. And there’s another dream pairing in our orchestral showcase at Cadogan Hall, as Paul Daniel conducts two pinnacles of late Romanticism: Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No 1 and Mahler’s Symphony No 5. In May, we welcome back our very own Transitions Dance Company after a three-month tour that has seen them perform across the UK and Europe: their triple bill of three dramatically contrasting works is simply unmissable. Then throughout June and July, we enjoy the thrill of discovering what our brilliantly talented dancers and choreographers have been working on all year, as they present a series of end-of-year showcase events that allow you to explore every possible space within and without our award-winning Laban Building. I hope you’ll enjoy discovering what we have to offer you, and that you’ll be able to join me for what promises to be a truly memorable summer programme.
