WELCOME

Welcome to our autumn guide. Once again, a rich range of concerts, dance shows, masterclasses, experimental performances and more await you. Our summer season saw second year dance undergraduates recreating scenes from Trinity Laban alumnus Sir Matthew Bourne’s ballet Highland Fling; the world premiere of Banished, a new opera by Stephen McNeff commissioned for our star vocal students; a piano showcase broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and the ever popular and critically acclaimed Inside Out Jazz Festival. After a well-deserved break, we’re back and looking forward to major performances from our Symphony Orchestra this season – in Side by Side concerts (including with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the legendary Maida Vale Studios), and in a programme of works by 'English Radicals' in the Great Hall at Blackheath Halls. The Homage to the Harp festival brings leading Italian harpists to Greenwich, while Rude Health is our annual festival of experimental and innovative music from our Composition department. The Laban Theatre welcomes world class dance companies, with Alexander Whitley, Company Wayne McGregor and Phoenix Dance Theatre all centre stage, alongside the next generation of Trinity Laban contemporary dance talent in newly commissioned works. And don’t miss the world premiere of Botis Seva’s Woman of Sun, co-commissioned by Greenwich Dance and Trinity Laban. It’s guaranteed to be an extraordinary night. If you’re new to Trinity Laban, you’re in for a treat, and if you’ve visited us before, you’ll be well aware of the talent on show. I look forward to welcoming you. Professor Anthony Bowne Principal, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

It was such an honour for me to be chosen for a scholarship. The support has taken away any worry about the cost of tuition, and has made it possible for me to follow my dream. Gen Li, Postgraduate Artist Diploma

SUPPORT US Trinity Laban is one of the most innovative and forwardfocused of the UK conservatories. We are indebted to our friends and supporters who contribute vital funds to help maintain the highest standards of excellence in all aspects of our work, particularly in performance. Philanthropic support for student scholarships and bursaries is the most direct and rewarding way to ensure the future of our next generation of musicians and dance artists. Our Scholarship Fund exists to help talented young artists attain the very highest levels of training regardless of income and personal circumstances. Living in London comes at a cost; students have to struggle and juggle to meet ends meet, now more than ever. The conservatoire presently awards around 160 scholarships to a student body of circa 1,000. We need your help to do more. Donations from individuals and charitable trusts also support events and activities that enhance our world-class status and our reputation as a modern conservatoire. In music, these include masterclasses, visiting artists, junior fellowships, mentoring schemes, festivals, and chamber music programmes across London and beyond. Supporters enjoy many opportunities at Trinity Laban from meeting students and their teachers to watching rehearsals and attending events. Contact us at any time to find out more about giving to Trinity Laban and seeing the impact of your gift. We are happy to recognise your gift in a way that is appropriate for you in appreciation of your generosity.
