Jr. High/High School

TCS TRADITIONS Elementary Gingerbread Man Shh!! It’s a Secret! Kindergarteners begin their experience each year with sweet stories of the Gingerbread Man. As they follow the sneaky little pastry around the school, they see places and meet faces that will shape their lives for the years to come. The day is completed as they are as sly as a fox and catch the Gingerbread Man! Fun Night Big times await every wide eyed 1st grader that comes to the Fun night with their teachers. Students will eat pizza and play some fun & excting games. It is a sweet time of bonding and building realtionships that will, in some cases, last a lifetime. Texas Day/Family Day Elementary has a big event each spring that is a day full of food, fun and friends on the Canton Campus. Parents volunteer to help with all the activities. The event theme alternates between Texas Day and Family Day. Praying For Missions Teams In teaching our students to think outside themselves, we give opportunities school-wide to minister to others by praying, giving, serving and being the hands and feet of Jesus. Our 1st thru 6th grade students partner with high school missions teams by meeting and praying together before and during missions week. When the teams return, they meet again with the elementary students to share with them what they have seen God do in their lives and the lives of others. Grandparent Coffee A tender musical Christmas performance by our elementary students that moves every heart, including that of the proud grandparent. A buffet of breakfast goodies will be served in Trinity Central before the program begins in the church sanctuary.

Junior High Game Night An evening playing crazy games in the school is the perfect way to strengthen friendships in Jr. High. Teachers do an amazing job of keeping students engaged with fun and exciting age appropriate games and setting the stage for healthy relationships through junior high and high school. Don’t miss the fun! High School Road Rally A high school adventure you only wish you could have had. This multifaceted scavenger hunt and high technology mind game is played by teams of high schools students driven in vehicles by dads around the city of Lubbock and sometimes beyond. The turns and clues will lead you to the evening’s end for a dinner and a total of points to determine the winners! Plan your teams and your drivers well! Everyone plays during this night of gaming fun. Twirp Week and Sadie Hawkins Planned by student leadership and sponsored by senior parents, Twirp week and Sadie Hawkins is set aside to honor the guys. Girls decorate lockers and invite boys to the dance. The dance sponsored by parents is for everyone. Students do not have to have a date to attend. Students not attending TCS are not allowed at the dance. The event is well supervised by parents and is a fun way to kickoff the fall fun! Homecoming Week A week to look forward to the return of TCS Alumni which includes: hallway decorations and costumes worn to bring your class the greatest number of points. The week culminates with the homecoming basketball games and crowning of the homecoming King & Queen. Junior/ Senior Banquet A banquet with dinner and a dance is hosted by the Junior class in honor of the Seniors. This is a special night used to highlight memories throughout high school and to begin to celebrate the impending senior graduation. All dresses are cleared through the high school offices. Legacy Alumni Many Trinity Christian School Alumni have enrolled their students in their alma mater. As the second generation TCS Alumni graduate, a new tradition has been created…the Legacy Alumni. TCS honors the graduates with a commemorative Legacy Alumni pin during the graduation ceremony and acknowledges the multiple generations of grads. Currently, TCS has over 60 Legacy students enrolled.

Dear Parents, Parents, families and teachers are a highlight here at Trinity Christian School. Four years ago a group of moms stepped to the forefront to form an official parent organization called Trinity Parents Association. Each individual gives leadership, ideas and service in the ways God has gifted them. They are a creative group of women who are passionate about making TCS the best it can be. I am honored to serve alongside this year’s leadership team. Sincerely,

Thanks for Giving

Teacher Appreciation:

Martha Hagood

806-632-9831

Here at TCS we love our teachers and try to take every opportunity to bless and thank them for all they do for our children and the school. One way we do this is through a monthly teacher appreciation luncheon. A different grade level each month provides lunch for each school campus. An email is sent out to the parents monthly to allow them to sign up to provide food or serve. We also provide goodies the first week in May during Teacher Appreciation Week. To find out how you can help contact Martha Hagood.

What: Thanks for Giving is a wonderful opportunity for us as the TCS family to financially bless our faculty and staff . Each family has the opportunity to give a monetary gift that will then be distributed to teachers. This event was established so that we as parents could join our desires to bless our teachers at the holiday season. Through our corporate effort, we are able to share a larger expression of our love and appreciation for the sacrifice they make to teach our children through a biblical worldview. Where: The 50 Yardline Restaurant Who: For the TCS staff and faculty provided by the families of TCS When: TBA Donations: TPA will begin collecting donations in September. You can also go to www.tcslubbock.org and click on online giving to make your donation.

PARENTING CALENDAR

Why Parenting?

Parenting is a hallmark of TCS, a foundational concept since the inception of the school in 1977. The mission of Trinity Christian School is to partner with Christian parents in the process of discipleship, so that their children will embrace biblical truth, achieve academic excellence, and model godly leadership in their homes, churches and communities. At TCS, we desire to: • Help parents create a passion for the family God has given them. • Help families obtain skills to be the best parents possible. • Partner with students and parents to meet educational and spiritual goals. • Help prepare students to effectively impact the world for Christ. • Encourage parents and students in discovering the unique calling and purpose God has planned for their child’s life.

EACH PARENT IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND

[1] at least one parenting class per semester, and complete [2] one hour of classroom observation per semester. (**Please note the [3] Mandatory Orientation in August and the [4] All School Family Meeting in January are in addition to parenting classes; they are mandatory and very informative, but do not count as a parenting class.) Below is a calendar of important dates. Morning Classes will take place 8:30-9:30am in the Edge Evening Classes will take place on the Univ. Campus 7:15-8pm unless otherwise noted. For descriptions of the classes being offered please check the website www.tcslubbock.org under the Elementary or JH/HS tabs and select Parenting.
