The House Patrons enjoy cozy times gathering with friends. PHOTOGRAPHY BY EMILY HENDERSON It’s easy to blend into the cozy vibe when you first walk across the quaint, covered porch of The House, a local hot spot for coffee, wine, simple eats, and gathering with friends. Although a newcomer to Columbus’ downtown scene, owner Sarah Koller is already creating a buzz around town for offering the perfect venue to recharge, relax and rewind. “In all honesty, these are the things I love to do in my free time,” shared Sarah. “This is a gathering place for the community. It’s a place to come hang out and meet friends, both old and new. We also have events, like our movie night. It’s Monday Night on the Lawn with a big blow-up screen and activities. Everyone is welcome to come out and bring chairs and blankets.” Deciding where to start her new venture was easy for Sarah. It was clear right away to her that The House had a home in Columbus. “I fell in love with Columbus and the personality of the community,” added Sarah. “This town checked all the boxes. I grew up driving past Columbus and not knowing how special it is. There’s the beautiful, historic courthouse, unique small businesses … I get goosebumps when I think about how special Columbus is. I hoped the community would embrace something like this and they have. It’s a good indication that we’re moving in the right direction.” Top, the front of The House; bottom, Sarah Koller of The House.
