Eva Caye Eva Caye has been writing for decades but didn’t start seriously writing until 2008. hen she could afford an editor she put out seven books in a year. She first started to seriously write while dealing with crippling depression. As she began to try and think her way out of the depression she thought about what she would do if she won the lottery. Her immediate answer was go back to college and study science. “I began fantasizing what kind of science I could create. Then my first two characters showed up, and I began writing down the conversations, fascinated by their interactions.
The very rough draft of my first book roared out of me in twenty days, and I’ve been unable to stop since.” Her decision to write science fiction romance stems from her reading pretty much exclusively science fiction. “The most important decision a person will ever make is who they’ll spend their life with. Life is messy, not all science and not all romance, which is why I mix the two together!” Integrity is her second collection of stories. The first was Evans Ladies. “These three novellas are about three cousins who unexpectedly impress their cousin Matthieu, the Emperor of Sinclair Demesnes, in different ways.
As usual, they are science fiction romances, but these are more heavy on the romance, and they have great yet complex moral decisions in them, reflecting the main characters’ integrity, naturally. ” Integrity is the most recent in the To Be Sinclair series of twelve science fiction romance novels. “I’d say my series is unique because they are more characterdriven novels, whereas most science fiction is action-driven (think big, bright explosions and tons of blood.) But, then again, there’s all that romance going on…! The titles represent the theme of the book, but overall they’re based on the noble virtues.
They’re usually about 50% sci fi to 50% romance, but they vary. I have two prequels and one sequel in the works, as well as one novel in the same ‘universe’, and one novel in the near future.” Here are the working titles and their current word counts: Enter the Goddess (110,225), Undying Dawn (59,730), Civility (13,110), Arrow of Fate (74,785), and Redemption of Asael (6,979). Caye decided to Self publish after sending her first novel Dignity out 20 times and every time being rejected, since then she has self published all of her novels and is pretty pleased with the results.
Shannon McRoberts Shannon McRoberts is an author whose works span from poetry to comics and graphic novels. She comes from a creative family that encouraged her to have many creative outlets. “Poetry for me, was an emotional outlet. I also have prose that I write because I couldn't find the type of books I wanted to read.” McRoberts always enjoyed novels that featured strong female characters with warrior hearts. Her newest novel is a collection of stories told in poetry, and as she puts it is most
most likely the last poetry story collection she will publish. It features new works as well as some old favorites. Not all of the featured poems are inspired by her life and travels but rather from observing others. Rather then publishing through a traditional company she has chosen to publish her poetry through her own imprint Obsidian Poet Press.
“I prefer to do as much as I can on my own, and I have learned many things since starting my publication process way back in 2004 with my first poetry book.”
Even though this may be her final poetry book that doesn't mean she is about to slow down with her fiction. She is currently working on a few different books plus a comic adaptation of her first Daughters of Ares books. She is also working on a new fantasy series that is going to feature a whole new world. That novel will be ready sometime in either 2018 or 2019. She is also working on setting up a newsletter so she can keep all of her readers in the loop.
Linda Ellen Linda Ellen is the author of two threebook series, Cherished Memories and Soldiers of Swing. Her love for writing first began in 2009 when her love for Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman was rekindled. She happened across the fanfiction that was written and instantly became enamored with it. “I voraciously read nearly every story I could find and even told my husband some of the brilliant plots the writers had dreamed up.”One day she told her husband an idea she had. “I laughingly told my husband about it because it was based on something that happened early in our marriage and his reply was,
her hero and heroine during the ’37 flood. “All of my books are, and will be, centered in and/or around Louisville, so I started thinking about Louisville during WWII. That led to our amazing Fort Knox Since then she has (with its ultra famous Gold written 28 short stories Vault, lol), and I came up within the DQ universe with a concept for three and 4 full-length novels. soldiers stationed She considers it her stateside during the war training ground. Her who each fall in love with husband eventually girls they meet at the local suggested that if she USO.” All of her novels are was going to be writing clean without any profanity so much, she should at or graphic sex but they do least get paid for it. “So, have a lot of comedy, I began working on an tragedy, swing music and idea for a real novel. I great dialogue, decided to use my parents’ true love story and write it in the form of a fiction novel. That became my first published work, Once in a While, in October of 2014. “ The novel starts with a very detailed account of “Write it.” With her husband encouraging her, she sat down on a Friday and finished her first 4 chapter story on Sunday.
She has self-published all of her novels but had them professionally formatted, edited and the covers created by a designer. Recently she has been working on a new series. “It’s a mail order bride story with a twist, set in 1870, and the working title is Sweet Love at Honey Landing. It will be a two book series, with the 2nd book set in modern times dealing with descendents of the original characters. I’m taking a local historical landmark’s location and house, and crafting new characters and storyline to go with it. I’m nearly finished with the writing, and I’m hoping to publish in the spring. It’s my first novel (other than the period pieces I did for Dr. Quinn) set that far back in history, and I’ve had to do a lot of research for it, as none of my knowledge and
research from my 40’s novels could be used” Her novel Her Blue-Eyed Sergeant, Book 1 of Soldiers of Swing, is available for free on Amazon from the 11th- to the 14th.
