Brandy knew she found her home when she moved to Erie, Colorado in 2007. After many years in both the service and health care industries, she decided it was time to put her love for people to use in the field of real estate. She began her real estate career knowing she wanted to run a business where she could work with people she loved, and give them every advantage when it comes to finding the home of their dreams. She believes in going the extra mile when it comes to her clients and consistently works hard to ensure that every transaction is filled with good memories and peace of mind, instead of the headache and stress that can come with finding a new home.
Brandy is a strong believer in community, and so when she’s not working to build that for her clients and colleagues, she’s spending time in the Erie community she values so much. She is always looking for new adventures with her husband and their daughter. Whether it be an awesome concert or trying a new restaurant, she’s up for the experience.
Brandy loves cooking, music, yoga, hiking, biking, and spending time with friends and family. If you were to sum her up in three words, they would probably be something like “sunshine”, “tacos”, and “smiles”.

Q. Tell us about you and your business. Where did you originally come from and what made you decide to go into the real estate business?
A. I am a 3rd generation realtor. My grandmother owns her own brokerage in California, my Dad had his license in Las Vegas when I was growing up but ultimately decided it was not his path. I on the other hand spent my late teens and early 20’s focused hard on going to medical school. I have a degree in Nutritional Sciences from Las Vegas where I am originally from. I moved to Colorado in 2007 in order to focus on getting some handson patient experience and work in the hospital settings while I apply for schools. Life has a funny way of saying, “this is not your path”. I attempted to apply a few times but life got very complicated every single time (think deaths in the family and then my new atthe-time husband losing his job). The final time I applied, was in 2010. And there was a glitch in the system and it was lost. I was too young to have harnessed my assertiveness and follow up. I was devastated, and then I realized this is a sign. The next day, while at dinner with my husband (who is a marketing guru and worked for a real estate company right out of college) turned to me and said, you know what you would be really good at? Real estate. The next week we did our taxes and had a refund for the EXACT amount that it cost to go to real estate school. As a result, almost 13 years later, he was right (don’t tell him I said that). I genuinely love my job. When people ask me what I do, I tell them I am a solution maker of problems and I also happen to sell real estate. I am passionate about making things beautiful, I love connecting people, I enjoy being in the background of making magic and happiness for those who are achieving their goals. I am never front and center. I am a supporting role and that is just perfect to me. I also believe in having strong relationships with other industry professionals, we are all in this very difficult and lonely world together. There are countless times that having great relationships with others makes a huge difference in a transaction and experience for your clients. Those matter!
A. My motto is to do all things with Grace. Life is filled with challenges and its all about how you respond to them, that matters the most. So as I am navigating through the countless problems that come up for some of my people, I focus on finding grace while searching for the solution.
A. I love all parts of residential sales. However, I am really talented at making things pretty, I end up with a lot of clients who want to make a few changes before listing and I really shine when I get to help them by using my project management skills to help make the process easier and the end result is always filled with the trends that sell, which is the ultimate goal.
Q. Why did you select Erie as the place to start your business years ago?
A. Well the humor of this one is that on my first date with Jeremy, we stayed up until 8:30 am talking at a park! I asked him, if you could live anywhere where would you go? He said, “I really want to move back to Colorado, I think maybe near Boulder”. It was the first date, but I said to myself “Well if this goes anywhere I could move.” We got married in 2005, and moved in 2007. We landed in Erie because his brother lived here at the time, bought his home in Canyon Creek in 1999...as soon as we got here, they moved to Boulder and Jeremy and I realized that we loved everything about Erie so much that we planned to grow old here. Now, my parents live 11 minutes one direction from me in Erie and Jeremy’s mom lives 7 minutes the other direction in Erie. This town is a true family home base for us and we love it!
Q. Tell us one thing that no one knows about you:
A. OOOOOOOh, this is a good one! My maiden name is “Boyd,” its a common name but not as common as “Smith” or “Jones” of course. Well my dad and mom met when my mom was 17, and when my dad came to pick her up for one of their early dates he reached out his hand to shake my mom’s dad’s hand and introduce himself, he said “hello, my name is Chris Boyd” and my mom started yelling and calling him a liar, because guess what, her name was Carol Boyd. So my maiden name is Boyd and my mom’s maiden name is also Boyd and no, they were not related. And for icing on the cake, my mom worked for Boyd Gaming in Las Vegas as a Director for 28 years, and I worked for them at one time too as a supervisor at the front desk at Sam’s Town. I had a hard time changing my last name but I don’t regret it as I love being original and there are certainly not many Brandy Unruh’s running around.
Q. How do you give back to the community and non-profits?
A. I find it so rewarding to volunteer. I recently spent some time at the Women’s Bean Project in Denver and A Precious Child. I also love giving back to our schools and our town, you can find me sponsoring all kinds of fun events around including the ice skating rink, Pride Day and Juneteenth. For me, I just want everyone to live somewhere that feels like it is a place that includes and is for everyone.

Everything should have a "home"create designated areas for toys and where they are to be stored when not in use
Common area(s), playroom or kids room, specific closet or drawer
Less is more Discard broken toys or toys/games that are missing all of the pieces Have your child help determine what they have outgrown and can donate Set purchasing limits - check to see what they already have before you buy more
Collect all games (from the entire house) and decide what designated area is their "home" Do the same with all other categories: Arts/Crafts, Books/Education, Technology, Dress-Up, etc
Once you have determined the items you are keeping and their new home decide if any organizing products would be helpful
You can repurpose things from your home (shoe boxes, reusable bags) or purchase items - bins, baskets, etc
This will depend on your child's age and where in the house these toys have been designated to live - did you use clear bins/baskets you can easily see in or are they hidden from sight?
Visual labels for younger kids with images is helpful
Determine how accessible you want toys to be - lower for littles, higher for bigger kids
Don't want them with full access to glitter and glue - determine where adult supervised toys should be placed
Don't overwhelm kids with too many choices - keep out their favorites and add a few new things quarterly Don't overcrowd the space or everyone will feel overwhelmed and it will get messy fast Rotating toys can be a useful solution
Once they are old enough get them involved in the purging and organizing process - it's not your job to manage all of this for them, it is your job to help teach them how to enjoy these gifts, treat their space and yours with respect and be accountable
Each parent is in a different season with their kid(s) - their interests will change as will their toys - reduce as much stress by creating a routine to declutter throughout the year
Create quarterly calendar maintenance reminders to tackle a space
Get your designated areas locked down, create easy and functional systems to maintain and then get on the floor, sit at the table, put on that dress-up crown and have fun!!!
Have you visited Lottie Lane in Erie? Lottie Lane is a beautiful boutique home decor, gift and design business that opened its storefront in October 2022. Lindsay Watne and her husband Steve, a fireman, are the owners.
I had the opportunity to visit the new store and meet Lindsay. Lindsay’s roots are in Colorado. She grew up in Broomfield and attended Legacy High School and currently resides in Colliers Hill in Erie with her husband and two children. Lindsay shared that she has always had a passion for interior design. Before Colorado, her family lived near the Miller Mansion in Pennsylvania. One of her favorite childhood memories is playing in its front yard with her sister. The mansion was recently featured on the Oprah network.
What you may not know is Lindsay got her start in this business because of her experience as a realtor. Buyers were always asking her advice on how to furnish their newly purchased homes. Lindsay obliged. Her love of this aspect of the real estate business expanded into her starting an online retail home décor store. With its success she decided to open a physical store, and thus, Lottie Lane was born.
Lindsay is planning to combine interior design with this boutique, something Erie needs! Steve did the build out of the store and Lindsay has plans for him to turn a portion of the store into a design center. She also plans to add more products to the store and create a gift box/design bar to assist people with finding the right gift. Her two-year goal is to start a kid’s camp to inspire them to love home design. It will be called “Little Lottie”.
Joanna Gaines is Lindsay’s inspiration. She is obsessed with the south and would love to live on a farm in Georgia or Tennessee.
Did you know Lottie Lane is named after Charlotte “Lottie” Wilson, a prominent member of Erie in the late 1800’s? Her husband James served as mayor three times, justice of the peace, and was a member of the Knights of Pythias. He built many houses and commercial buildings that remain today. He also built the United Methodist Church which provided a church for his wife Lottie and the community of Erie to worship. Lottie and her four children even were said to have made a grand entrance at church each Sunday!
Lottie Lane is a great addition to downtown Erie! Lindsay, the owner, is friendly and welcoming. Stop by and see this great store for yourself!

4 slices French bread
4 slices Gruyère cheese

Put soup into ramekins, add bread and cover with cheese, place into oven broiler for 3 minutes till cheese bubbles and browns.
Chef tips:
Toast your sliced bread with a little garlic & spices to build an extra layer of flavor. Pick any cheese you like, I love making it with smoked Gruyère or Provolone. If you like your soup creamy, add a little roux of butter, this will help thicken the soup.

I’m pro-aging and most of the things that come with it – wisdom, confidence, knowledge, experience, long - lasting relationships. I’m also pro-aging in that I think gray hair and some wrinkles are beautiful. What I’m against is dull, tired looking skin that shows advanced signs of aging. As we get older many of the body’s processes begin to slow as a part of natural aging, one of these processes is collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are the essential matrix that gives our skin firmness and tone. Once we start to lose this firmness we see skin laxity, wrinkles and sagging skin.
Luckily, there are modalities that are able to slow, soften and sometimes reverse those signs of advanced aging. Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is one of those therapies and is performed using a hand held device with a sterile single use cartridge that contains a grouping of micro needles to penetrate the epidermis and create micro injury to the skin. These micro injuries stimulate the body’s own natural healing response and induce collagen and elastin production to heal the skin.
The process starts with inflammation (redness, minor swelling) which triggers the body to produce more collagen to heal the micro injury in a repair process called dermal remodeling. Through a series of 3-6 treatments every 4-6 weeks, microneedling will help increase the amount of collagen and rejuvenate the elastic skin fibers improving texture, tone and radiance.
Increased collagen and elastin in the skin firms the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance and helps to improve;
• Uneven Texture
• Uneven Tone
• Discoloration
• Fine Lines & Wrinkles
• Remove Sun damage
• Reduce scarring
• Acne Pitting
• Large Pores
• Skin Laxity
• Stretch Marks
• Product Penetration
There is very little downtime with microneedling, unlike other more invasive procedures like lasers, CO2 Resurfacing, or deeper chemical peels. At most, clients experience 24-48 hours of redness and there may be some minor swelling present. After the initial inflammation, there’s nothing but upside - younger, firmer, more radiant skin.

As a mother of a teenager, I am constantly worried about the dangers that my child and his friends/schoolmates may face. One of the things that has been on my mind lately is the threat of an accidental overdose from fentanyl. In recent years the possibility of fentayl-laced marijuana or opioids has been tragic and the reason for a rise in teen deaths across the country.
Tragically a friend of my son’s passed away last January 24, 2023 due to a fentanyl overdose. He lived in Firestone after living in Erie briefly. My son Tristan met him in fourth grade and immediately took to him due to his quick wit and kindness. He was only 16 years old when he passed.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. It is often mixed with other drugs, such as heroin and cocaine, without the user’s knowledge, making it particularly dangerous.
The problem with marijuana laced with fentanyl is that it is virtually impossible to detect. The two drugs have vastly different appearances and smells, and the fentanyl is often added in extremely small amounts, making it nearly impossible to detect without specialized testing. This means that teens who are using marijuana, whether recreationally or as a form of self-medication, could be unknowingly ingesting a potentially deadly substance. The effects of fentanyl can be immediate and severe, including respiratory depression, drowsiness, confusion, and even coma and death.
Erie is at risk due to the drugs that are distributed from a cartel that has a heavy presence in our neighboring town, Longmont.
As a parent, it may be hard to know how to talk to your teenager about this issue. Make sure they understand the risks and know how to stay safe, but you don’t want to scare them unnecessarily.
One way that I have found to be effective is to start the conversation by explaining what fentanyl is and how it is used. I also talk about the signs of an overdose and what to do if they suspect someone is experiencing one. I also remind them of the importance of not using drugs that are not prescribed by a doctor and the dangers of mixing drugs.
Be a supportive and actively listening parent, being there for them when they have questions or concerns and being open to discussing the topic. Make sure that your teen knows that if they or someone they know is struggling with addiction, there are resources available for help. NO JUDGMENT! Personally I carry Narcan (a medicine used for the treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose emergency).
Many communities have substance abuse treatment centers and support groups that can provide assistance. Parents should also be vigilant about monitoring their children’s behavior for signs of drug use and seeking help if necessary.
In conclusion, the dangers of marijuana laced with fentanyl are real and potentially fatal, and it is essential to raise awareness about this trend and to educate teens about the risks associated with drug use.
