Here are our tips and tricks for a totally even tan...

For best results when tanning and a streak-free finish, do everything else first: paint nails prior to application; shave at least 24 hours before you plan to tan (shaving opens pores and can cause the colour to deposit unevenly); and exfoliate the day before too, to ensure skin is texture-free and ready for smooth application.

THE WHY BEHIND THE PRODUCT

We wax lyrical about the transformative properties of our products often, but nothing is as instantly elevating as a tan. Susie saw a gap in our range and the market for a self-tanner that not only uplifts the skin with a natural-looking, sun-kissed glow but brings truly nourishing skin benefits too. We did a whole lot of research and stumbled upon patented plant allo-melanin – where other self-tans may leave an orangey, unnatural appearance in their wake, the plant allo-melanin in Sun Drench mimics your customers’ own natural shade when they tan for real-life results!

HOW TO ENJOY

• Use the Exfoliating Mitt in the shower before application (ideally the day or morning before). Avoid using Body Smooth immediately before using Sun Drench as the oils will act as a barrier on the skin, preventing the tanning agents from activating. • On dry, unmoisturised skin, apply in circular motions using the Tanning Mitt, keeping hands clean and bringing a streak-free finish. • Use the caramel colour as a guide, and don’t forget to buff it all over the edges of the feet and behind the knees. • Use what’s leftover on the Mitt to blend over elbows, heels and wrists – these drier areas are where the tan will cling to most, meaning they can go darker than the rest of the skin as it develops. • Leave Sun Drench to develop overnight and then shower as normal in the morning. • Customers can repeat the process every three-five days to keep their tan topped up, or use Summer Skin to maintain the longevity of the tan and ensure it fades away evenly. • If properly taken care of, Sun Drench can last up to week – it’s important to keep skin moisturised to avoid the tan fading patchy.

HOW TO ENJOY

• With a light brown tint that acts as a guide so your customers can see exactly where they’re applying it, exfoliate skin beforehand so it’s smooth and even prior to application. • Be sure to apply it on clean, dry skin that hasn’t been moisturised, as the oils will act as a barrier and prevent the tanning agents from activating. • Use hands to rub it in or, for best results, the Tanning Mitt in long, even strokes.

HOW TO ENJOY

• Shake before you shimmer.

• Massage the oil into skin using circular motions, applying it all over or just on areas your customers want to highlight such as shoulders, décolletage, shins, arms and legs. • It absorbs quickly, so remember to wash hands afterwards or fingertips will end up as twinkly as your customers’ arms and legs! • When stored, customers may note the oil appears to split – don’t worry! This is expected and a result of the heavier mica particles collecting together. It doesn’t mean the product is off, just that it needs a little shake pre-application to ensure the shimmer is distributed evenly throughout the oils.
