Chairwoman's Report

Making a comeback in a hybrid format after two successive years (2020 and 2021) of Covid19, this year's face-to-face summit in Praia, Republic of Cabo Verde bore substantial fruit which led to the mobilization of a $500 million envelope worth of investments facilitated by our partner YUNUS INVEST SA Luxembourg as well as the consolidation of several intra-African and international synergies for the benefit of PPP projects such as SMME/SME/SMI throughout the continent All this was made possible thanks to the assistance of TROPICS INVEST & CO , the advisory division of the TROPICS GROUP OF COMPANIES, in charge of facilitating investments in Africa Our leitmotif remains to effectively support African States as well as young project leaders to access structural funding and green funds and, even more so, to combine our expertise in Nation Branding (territorial communication strategy) in order to boost the attractiveness of African countries through the key sectors of the pan-African economy

TBS is an impartial platform
We are neutral and business-focused organization – we are committed to improving one African country at a time in ways that are objective, measurable and sustainable
TBS vision is PanAfrican and Global
We bring attention to opportunities in a specific country (Cabo Verde is 2022 Host Country) We do this by by mobilizing stakeholders from all continents to explore synergies and drive sustainable development through human capital development and investment Because the world is an interconnected ecosystem, we believe that no issue is isolated – there are always effects and interdependencies, which we systematically and rigorously take into consideration The forthcoming Summit makes cooperation possible between Cape Verde and the 53 remaining African Countries and the rest of the world
TBS is forward-thinking and trendsetting
We focus on the long term, not the emergencies of the day This is the reason why the summit need to be hosted in the same country at least 3 times to measure its impact in the long run Success is measured not only in terms of immediate results such as Tourism attraction which is obsolete and subject now to Covid-19 pandemic - we understand that real progress takes time and sustained commitment to drive all sectors to fully contribute to the overall economy and therefore to compliment the Government efforts to drive sustainable development and create jobs on the ground
Tropics Business Summit
Praia, Cabo Verde 2022
Africa's industrial production has been growing above the world average, but that pace needs to accelerate further, and it is in this spirit that the TROPICS BUSINESS SUMMIT (TBS), one of the Congolese-southern events largest African countries on intra-African investments, aims to bridge the financing gap between the English-speaking, French-speaking and Portuguese-speaking markets to boost Africa's industrialization at a multidimensional level
Over the past decade, the Government of Cabo Verde, despite the difficulties of successive economic crises, has made a strong commitment to improving infrastructure, particularly business centers and facilitating financing On the basis of an economic recovery plan, the Government has taken important measures to promote policies aimed, on the one hand, at making the country more resilient to external impacts and, on the other hand, at combating poverty and to ensure social cohesion In this context, two priorities guide the policies of the said Government for the years to come: the diversification of the economy and a strong emphasis on the options of the private sector and in particular the promotion of innovation and technology.
As part of the economic diversification plan, the sectors of the digital economy (information and communication technologies), the blue economy (fishing, research and scientific activities), energy ( renewable energies), maritime and air transport, finance, services, industry, the acceleration of small and medium-sized enterprises, the development of infrastructures, sports and agro-industry are, alongside the tourism sector , are called to become the main axes of sustainable development of the Cape Verdean nation
With regard to the involvement of the private sector, beyond the policies and measures taken to create a strong private business class that generates jobs and wealth, the Cape Verdean Government supports private initiatives and actively promotes the entry of new key players to drive new paradigms.
