JASON HAMILTON Head Coach • Third Season University of Detroit Mercy Record at TROY: 30-10-2 (.738) Overall Record: 30-10-2 (.738)

Jason Hamilton enters his third season as head coach of the Troy University women’s soccer program.

Coaching Experience

2014-present: Troy University (head coach)

2013: University of Florida (assistant coach) Boston Breakers (assistant coach) 2011-13: University of Miami (assistant/interim head coach) 2005-07: Berkley High School (Mich.) (head coach) 2005: University of Detroit Mercy (assistant coach)

Building on the historic success of his first season, Hamilton’s Trojans again rewrote the program’s record book setting numerous individual and team records en route to a 144-2, 6-2-1 season. Defensively, Troy posted a program- and Sun Belt Conference-best 0.63 goals against average and registered 10 shutouts. Led by All-Sun Belt selections Mikki Lewis and Haley Roberson, Troy’s defense allowed just 13 goals in 20 matches, a new program record. Alissa Jones, Chelsey Williams and Jasmine Farhnbauer were also named to the All-Sun Belt team. After having cracked the RPI Top 200 just twice in program history, the Trojans posted back-to-back seasons (2014, 2015) in the Top 100, finishing No. 73 and No. 61, respectively. The squad has flourished in the classroom as well receiving the NCSAA Team Academic Award in each of Hamilton’s first two seasons. In his first season at the helm, Hamilton’s 2014 squad broke or tied 29 school records. Troy finished the season 16-6, a school record for wins in a season. Chelsey Williams became the program’s all-time leading scorer (25 goals, 60 points), while Alissa Jones shattered single-season marks in assists (10), points (34) and game-winning goals (7). Jones also scored 12 goals to become the first Trojan to register double-digit goals and assists in a season. Freshman goalkeeper Mikki Lewis posted a record 11 shutouts, which was tops in the Sun Belt Conference. As a team, the 2014 Trojans recorded 13 shutouts, most in single-season school history. The team also made a memorable run through the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Troy won it’s first-ever postseason game, a 1-0 decision over UL Lafayette. The Trojans followed that with a 1-0 victory over Texas State before falling by the same score to South Alabama in the championship game.

Hamilton Year-by-Year

Defensively, Troy was solid all season. The team posted a 0.76 goals against average,

best in the league and in school history. Troy’s backline allowed just 17 goals all season, fewest ever by a Trojan squad. Troy reeled off eight straight victories during the regular season and entered the Sun Belt Tournament on a six-game winning streak. Williams, Jones and Georgia Wallis were all named first team All-Sun Belt Conference, while Lewis and Payton Donley earned second team honors. Hamilton came to Troy after spending the 2013 season as an assistant coach with the Florida Gators women’s soccer program where he worked with the goalkeepers, team defending and focused on team set pieces. Prior to his time in Gainesville, Hamilton served as an assistant for the Boston Breakers of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). While with the Breakers, his role included scouting opponents, individual training, as well as working with the goalkeepers. During the 2013 season, Hamilton trained Sydney Leroux, Heather O’Reilly and Alyssa Naeher of the United States National Team. Before going to Boston, Hamilton spent two years at the University of Miami where he rose quickly in the ranks from volunteer coach to full assistant before leading the program as the Interim Head Coach in early spring of 2013. While with the Hurricanes, Hamilton worked with the back line, midfield and goalkeepers as well as scouting opponents and directing camps.

In 2012, Hamilton helped Miami to one of their most successful seasons into the program’s history as the Hurricanes set program records for shutouts, fewest goals against, and conference shutouts. The 2012 Miami Hurricanes made its first Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament appearance in five seasons and received a berth in the NCAA Championship field. Hamilton received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2005. He also has several diplomas and licenses from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Sports Academy. As a player, Hamilton was a midfielder for Macomb College in Clinton Charter Township, Mich. The team advanced to the 2000 NJCAA Final Four, with Hamilton earning a spot on the NJCAA Final Four all-tournament team. He also was an all-conference first-team selection. He then transferred to the University of Detroit Mercy and played goalkeeper there for his sophomore and junior years. As a senior, Hamilton moved back onto the field and was a captain. After graduating, Hamilton volunteered for the team and worked with the goalkeepers. After his college career, Hamilton played four seasons as a defender for the Windsor Border Stars in the Canadian Professional Soccer League. While he was there, the team won two Canada Cup Championships.

She also played all 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw with No. 19 Washington on Oct. 9. Huynh’s lone assist on the year came against Arizona State on Nov. 1 as her free kick from 40 yards out found the head of Heather Ward for a score. 2014 (Sophomore): Huynh took the pitch in 12 matches and made nine starts, playing a pivotal role on the CU backline. She played a season-high 102 minutes in CU’s double-overtime contest against former Big 12 Conference rival Kansas.
