Candlelight Concert Series

On any typical month you may be looking to plan a romantic date night or a family-friendly event to bring your out-of-town folks or friends to. Out of ideas but wanting to impress, you type “unique things to do Austin” into Google. One of the events that might pop up is the Candlelight Concert series.

This concert series has a reputation worldwide but sometime last year they came to Austin. Every concert is focused on a different variety of music genres and features a band of live classical musicians, mostly string. But don’t be fooled, classical string musicians do not mean boring. Each night features a different theme ranging from 90’s Hits (Radiohead, Backstreet Boys, TLC, etc.) to Taylor Swift and the Beatles. If you are looking for a more traditional classical concert, they have those too.

The series tends to focus on musical tributes but I have seen them offer several other options such as Horror Movie music, K-Pop, Anime Movie music, and a rock music night. For Valentine’s Day they had a really amazing concert of love songs that included performances from the Ventana Ballet at the stunning historic Mansion.

Personally, I have attended several Candlelights so far and have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of music and the venue where the concerts are performed. The ambiance is like nothing else I’ve experienced before. Just like the name, the room is lit up using candles and the vibe is very relaxing. The venues, while fitting their spectacular description, are also on the smaller side, giving that intimate flair that feels more personal.

As a bonus most of the concerts are B.Y.O.B. and guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks. The music lasts about an hour but the musicians are always up for one or two encores if the audience calls for it. This is perfect if you want to plan to eat at a restaurant before or after the show.

Tickets for the Candlelight Concerts range from $30-$50. You can purchase tickets on Fever Up’s Austin site (Feverup.com/Austin) and take a look at the upcoming lineup. I promise you won’t be disappointed and neither will your guests.
