Available payment options for HVUT Form 2290
IRS Form 2290 You must file IRS tax 2290 and Get Form 2290 Schedule 1 for the tax if a taxable highway motor vehicle is registered, or required to be registered, in your name under state, District of Columbia, Canadian, or Mexican law at the time of its first use during the tax period and the vehicle has a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more. IRS Payment Options There are three different payment options the IRS offers in order to remit 2290 taxes owed: direct debit/electronic funds withdrawal, EFTPS, or check or money order. The IRS does NOT, however allow for taxes to be paid via credit card. Electronic Funds Withdrawal Electronic Funds Withdrawal, or EFW, requires a bank account number and routing number. The IRS will then draft the money out of your bank account within several business days. Electronic Federal Tax Payment System EFTPS, or Electronic Federal Tax Payment System, is a payment account set up exclusively for paying your taxes to the IRS. You will need to have this account previous to filing your Form 2290 in order to exercise this option. Check or money order Check or money order is the third and final option. A tax payer choosing this option is signifying to the IRS that they will be mailing in a check or money order with the amount owed. Please remember that the IRS will not draft this amount out of your account automatically if you choose this option and it is your responsibility to remit the taxes to them.
