Form 2290 E-filing Process Form 2290 The IRS Form 2290 online Form online exists as a way to pay Heavy Vehicle Use Taxes, or HVUT, which must be filed with the IRS for any highway motor vehicle that exceeds a gross weight of 55,000 pounds.

Add Business Choose the First Used Month We support filing returns for the current tax year and previous tax years. The “HVUT� Tax period begins in July and ends on June 30th of the following year. A Form 2290 must be filed once a vehicle is placed in service. The Form 2290 due date for each month is the last day of the following month. If a previous tax year filing has been submitted for a vehicle, then your First Use Month will be July - which is the first month of the Tax Period.

Add vehicles When filing an IRS Tax Form 2290 online, you may add any and all necessary vehicles, including sold/destroyed, suspended, and low mileage vehicles. Taxable vehicles are those that gross over 55,000 pounds and travel over 5,000 miles in a tax year. Suspended and prior year suspended vehicles have not exceeded the 5,000 mile threshold (or 7,500 miles for agricultural vehicles). Sold/destroyed credits are allowed for vehicles that were stolen, sold, or destroyed in the tax year.

Make IRS Payment Make IRS Payment if you owe taxes, there are several payment methods currently accepted by the IRS.

Electronic Funds Withdrawal The direct debit or EFW (Electronic Funds Withdrawal) pulls money directly from your account. If EFW is chosen, the IRS will not process the payment on weekends or federal holidays.

Electronic Federal Tax Payment System Electronic Federal Tax Payment System is similar to the EFW but requires an account to be


set up at EFTPS.gov. To use EFTPS you must first register by going to www.EFTPS.gov and click on enroll. Once enrolled into EFTPS, you will receive a pin number from the IRS within 5-7 business days. Please be aware you will not be able to submit an EFTPS payment until you receive your pin number.

Check or Money order Check or Money orders are simple payments sent to the IRS which are safer than cash and less complex than the previously mentioned payment methods. If you prefer to pay your tax due by mailing a check or money order to the IRS, you must include payment voucher 2290V with your payment.

Review Errors After ExpressTruckTax reviews your tax data for errors and the errors have been corrected ExpressTruckTax automatically updates your form 2290. To complete your return you will now need to click on the “Transmit the return to the IRS” button.

Payment Options You will receive an emailed copy of your Stamped Schedule 1 Form 2290 to the email address you provided when creating your ExpressTruckTax account. You will receive your emailed Schedule 1 copy even if extra alerts and notification are chosen or not.

Transmit to IRS Create your own 5 digits number as your PIN/Electronic Signature and transmit the return to the IRS by pressing “Transmit the Return to the IRS” button.

Receive Schedule 1 E-file Form 2290 Get the Schedule 1 within minutes. The watermarked Schedule 1 will be emailed directly to your email address and should your Form 2290 be rejected for any reason, you will receive an email explaining why. The Form 2290 Schedule 1 may also be accessed in a PDF format from the Dashboard.
