or Voucher option where by mailing in a check or money order.

Each payment method is processed directly by the US Treasury.

Regardless of the payment method you choose you can still receive your Stamped Schedule 1 via email within minutes of your return being accepted by the IRS because you have either paid or made an electronic promise to pay the taxes due. You will choose your payment option during the process of E-Filing your Form 2290.

Please note that credit cards cannot be used to make tax payments because the IRS does not accept this payment method for 2290s at this time.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS WITHDRAWAL (EFW) Features and Benefits of Electronic Funds Withdrawal:  It's convenient. Individual and business filers can e-file and e-pay in a single step.  It's free, but check with your financial institution about any fees it may charge.  It’s safe and secure. Payment information is used only for the tax payment(s) authorized.  Bank account information is safeguarded.  Payment information will not be disclosed for any reason other than for processing authorized payment transactions.  For Form 2290 the electronic payment will be effective (i.e., settled) on the date the return or form is e-filed.  After the return due date, the effective date for EFW payments is the date the return or form is successfully transmitted.  A separate payment record is required for each estimated payment.  The bank account information can be the same or different for each payment entered.

How to Make an Electronic Funds Withdrawal Payment?  Use commercial software or a Paid Preparer, to e-file your federal tax return, and at the same time, use EFW to make your payment(s).  Upon selection of the electronic funds withdrawal option, a payment record will display for entry of payment information.  Enter your financial institution's routing transit number and account number. Check with your financial institution to confirm these

numbers.

 Select the type of account from which the payment is to be debited (checking or savings).  Enter the amount of your payment.  Penalty and/or interest can be added to your balance due payment.

Some commercial software will compute these amounts or they can be computed manually. Or you can wait and be billed for any applicable penalty and/or interest you may owe.  Electronic funds withdrawal payments cannot be initiated after the return or form is filed.

 You can check up to 16 months of your EFTPS payment history online or by calling EFTPS Customer Service.

Accuracy You Can Depend On By 8 p.m. ET at least one calendar day in advance of the due date, submit your payment instructions to EFTPS to move the funds from your account to the Treasury's account for payment of your federal taxes.

Funds will not move from your account until the date you indicate. You will receive an immediate acknowledgement of your payment instructions, and your bank statement will confirm the payment was made.

Check or Money Order  You can also send the tax dues by Check or Money Order. If you use this method, please print the completed payment voucher 2290-V page 5 of the completed form 2290).  Do not send cash. Make your check or money order payable to the United States Treasury. Write your name, address, EIN, “IRS Form 2290,” and the date (as entered in Box 3) on your payment.  Detach the payment voucher 2290-V and send it with your payment. If you have filed electronically, do not send IRS Form 2290 and Schedule 1 with the payment voucher.  Do not staple your payment to the voucher or IRS Form 2290.
