The evening ended on a high note with scrumptious food, including shrimp pasta, and roast pork that was prepared on the spot. For many persons the event was also a reunion, as persons mingled while dancing and eating. One staff member commented that this was the best award ceremony they had every been to, “and I have been to many” she noted. Congratulations once again to all of the awardees and all of members of staff that made the event a successful one. We all look forward to ICWI’s 50th Anniversary and Award Ceremony.

Employee of the Year: Naudia Hodgson At a glance, Naudia still looks like she is could be in high school: small in stature and petite in physique. Ms. Naudia Hodgson, however, is the Payables Supervisor in the Finance Department. Naudia started working at ICWI on October 16, 2012 in the Customer Care Centre. Early 2015, she was transferred to her ‘department of first love’, the Accounts Department. In the Receivables Unit, she took control of her assigned Brokers and could be heard on the telephone “setting them straight” when they were not adhering to the terms of their contract with ICWI.Getting to know Naudia, you will find a pleasant fashionista who infuses an upbeat spirit with the serious work that goes on in the Finance department. She is yet to her ‘throw her hands up’ at any assigned task. Her positive approach to her work speaks for itself. A

This happy Third Party was hit from his Harley Davidson motorcycle by one of ICWI’s insureds. He visited the ICWI office to report his claim, and was so pleased with the exceptional service and quick settlement provided by the PROs at ICWI St. Maarten, that he surprised the entire office with Gift Certificates for dinner at a popular local restaurant Pineapple Pete’s.

Hope in the Hills On Sunday June 10, music lovers from across Jamaica made their way up to Strawberry Hill in Irish Town to attend Hope in the Hills - a benefit concert in support of the Hope Institute Hospital.

Continuing in the

tradition of lending support to the fight against cancer, ICWI signed on as the title sponsor of this event, which successfully raised J$500,000. The Hope Institute, which opened in March 1993, is the only public cancer treatment centre in the island. Its aim is to provide first class treatment and care at little or no cost to patients. inspired by her own personal battle with breast cancer to stage Hope in the Hills. The event featured performances by Couch, as well as her daughter Sarah Couch, and was headlined by British singer Joss Stone. Stone, with her quirky but laid-back personality and booming yet soulful voice, quickly charmed all in attendance as the swayed and sang along with her. The night also included a surprise appearance by Nathaniel ‘Toots’ Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals fame, who closed the night alongside Couch and

Mandeville Branch Play Their Part in Child Month Activities Staff from the Mandeville Branch purchased and donated children’s books to the Mandeville Hospital Pediatric Ward. The books were well received by the parents, nurses and children, all of whom really appreciated the visit from the ICWI staff who also took the time to read a few stories.

Wellness

This sizzling summer heat demands a cool refreshing drink a few times each day. One popular ingredient in many tropical juices is ginger. Many Jamaicans enjoy the unique flavour of ginger and the way it can intensify any drink or meal if used correctly. Ginger is not only used in cooking, but also as an alternative to many over the counter drugs (OCDs), to relieve a number of popular medical conditions. Here are 12 major benefits of Ginger.
