Jamaica’s Christmas
Beach Party ICWI’s Christmas Party, held on December 2nd, was unlike any other in recent years. Held at Pearly Beach, St. Ann, Jamaica, it incorporated members of staff from all branches across the country. With a kick-off time of 3:30 p.m. and a “beach chic” dress code, the beach setting created the perfect atmosphere for staff to relax together. Shuttles were arranged to make transportation to the venue as convenient as possible for everyone, with two separate return times, so that those wanting to leave early had the option, and those who wanted to party the night away could do so.
Upon arrival, music played while staff streamed in. The venue was beautifully decorated on the pearly white sand beach, with canopies elegantly draped and furnished with lounge benches and throw cushions. Those who wanted to cool down took a dip in the sea to watch the sunset, though most chose to get the party started early with a visit to either of the two bars. A little later, finger food was available to keep everyone amply fuelled to keep the festivities going.

As the evening progressed, the party evolved from social mingling, to staff competitions including “most chic” and “best dancer”, to lots of fun and dancing to music selected by the DJ. When it was time for dinner, the lights strung above the long dining tables, gave the perfect ambiance for an elegant buffet-style sunset dinner. On the menu was jerked chicken, alfredo creamy shrimp, alfredo penne pasta, grilled snapper fillet, traditional baked sliced ham, rice and gungo peas, baked macaroni and cheese, potato salad and a green salad, followed by dessert. There was no shortage of entertainment - After dinner, fire dancers awed the attendees with their jaw dropping performances under the dark, starry sky. Staff were later given lighted balloons and asked to make a wish before letting them go, allowing them to float up into the night sky in unison; a truly beautiful sight.
After lots more dancing and laughter, there seemed to be no need for an early bus after all, as most persons were far from ready for the evening to come to an end. Despite all the fun, the evening came to a close at 9:00 p.m. Thanks to all those who attended, and a special thank you to the Christmas Party Committee who did a fine job at making the night absolutely memorable!

Sigma Run 2018 On February 20, 2018 at 7.30am, members of the
Jamaica Business community gave their support in running for a cause at the Sagicor Sigma Run. One of the objectives of the run is to inspire holistic health while giving back to the less fortunate within our society. This year the Sigma Corporate run was focused on providing essential support for health and child related initiatives. The target for 2018 was to raise $50,000,000 in order to support these projects. Runners, joggers, walkers and wheelchair participants from over 200 companies, along with their children and spouses came out to support what has been defined as the “Caribbean’s largest road race.” Professional athletes also lended their support, finishing with impressive results. Part of ICWI’s mission is to support projects that are geared towards nation building. As such, several members of staff were sponsored to participate in the event. The ICWI family thanks all those who supported the Sigma Run 2018. Let’s do it again in 2019!
