in providing comprehensive suppor t to sur vivors and their families, help to increase awareness, and reduce the risk of breast cancer by providing much needed information. 2016 marked the fifteenth staging of the annual fundraising Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk in New Kingston. On Saturday October 29 at 6:00 a.m. warm up exercises were led by Body by Kur t, while ICWI volunteers handed out pink sunglasses and branded draw string bags to all par ticipants. After saying a few brief comments at the star ting line, President Paul Lalor sounded the horn to officially star t the race. The runners were first, followed almost fifteen minutes later by the walkers. Par ticipants ranged in ages, some taking a ver y serious and competitive approach, while others were happy to walk with their children in strollers. Taking par t were a few surprise guests - Olympic Gold medalists, Asafa Powell and Michael Frater. They both created a serious buzz in the crowd and piqued the interest of many of the female par ticipants who tried their best to ‘snap’ a selfie with the Olympians. The energy level was high as some of early finishers crossed the line in under 18 minutes. The first walkers crossed the line in under 30 minutes.
ICWI
fielded the largest team of 200 participants, made up of staff, friends and family as well as partners.

Awards and medals were handed out in various categories following the run; Digicel gave out spot prizes for the “Best Pink Outfit”, and to the man who could do the most push-ups. Fun was had by all, and more impor tantly ICWI assisted Jamaica Reach to Recover y in raising well-needed funds to help save lives. At the end of the day, the event was a huge success due to the hard work and dedication of ICWI’s planning team, Running Events staff and volunteers from

C
hristmas is the season for good cheer and giving. It is a season that encourages
the magnificent display of love to all. As tradition would have it, both the MIS and Finance depar tments welcomed the oppor tunity to show love and give back to their colleagues. It was no surprise that

this Christmas, the two depar tments went all out and wowed us yet again with their extensive breakfast menus. Upon entering the four th floor lunch room, you were greeted by delicious smells of traditional Jamaican breakfast such as ackee and saltfish, mackerel run dung, callaloo, breadfruit and a host of other tasty delectables. The MIS depar tment however, was even more spectacular than last year! Donned in their chef hats and aprons, Danielle Anikey and Chris Mendes served

Despite the lines and the constant flow in and out, every staff member who visited left with filled plates, happy tummies and smiling faces.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS at ICWI
T
here is no finer way to end a year of hard work and dedication than enjoying an evening of excellent food, good music and great company.
This is exactly what describes ICWI’s Christmas celebrations. Rather than having a grand par ty where all staff from the various locations would rendezvous, Christmas 2016 was a little more intimate for the ICWI family.

Brown’s Town, Ocho Rios and Por t Maria, held their par ty at Sandcastles in Ocho Rios. It was the perfect occasion for pixies to exchange their gifts - the highlight of the night. For the western region, they gathered at Sunset Resor ts in Montego Bay. With an excellent ambiance and good food, the evening was well spent talking, laughing and enjoying the night out. The Mandeville branch and its Agents met at Frenchman’s Reef in Treasure Beach by the seaside. This proved to be a great place to unwind, and a good time was had by all. 10
