Affectionately called, Aunty Carol to many or Barbara Gloudon to a few, Carol is arguably the Heart of the Doctor Bird Power Station. She is the first face you will see upon entering the glass doors of the Administrative Offices at the Barge, and she always greets you with a warm, professional and hearty welcome, unless you are one of the troublemakers of course. Aunty Carol has been a permanent fixture at the Barge since she started in November 1995 as an Office Attendant and subsequently promoted to Office Assistant responsible for the operation of the front desk and switchboard along with numerous other tasks. She exemplifies that hard work, a great attitude and determination will go along way.
Aunty Carol has been around to see the Company change hands several times and has seen it expand in locations and people, however, despite the ever-growing number of employees she can easily tell you the full names of every employee (and their alias’ too), their departments and can recite most phone numbers and extensions in quick succession. If you know Aunty Carol, then you know she is a lover of Christmas, having been born a December baby herself. She often begins playing her Christmas songs in June and bakes the absolute best Christmas cakes. She is also known to be a great cook who loves to share her creations with her Office colleagues and will always bring fruits and treats for the other staff. But not to let her giving ways and kind heart fool you, she is also known to discipline any rowdy employee and is often the source of immense amusement in the office; especially during the Olympics or Champs season! Aunty Carol is without question, one of the MVPs of the Jamaica Energy Partners. September 2018

Work on HFO Supply Line From Petrojam Plant Technician, Shelair Venair, observing the HFO flow meter while awaiting a radio call from Petrojam Ltd, to confirm the beginning of the bunkering procedure.
The bunkering procedure is the process by which WKPP receives fuel from Petrojam Limited via a pipeline. Part of the procedure was also to contact Shelair and advise her that they started their pump so that she can confirm that she sees a flow. During the process, WKPP Plant Technician, Oshane Brown, and the CRO ensured that the HFO line was ready to receive fuel.

WKPP, through this competition, invested funds to expose students to topics within the energy sector to influence career choice; increase knowledge of factors surrounding energy generation and distribution, and to demonstrate the importance of energy as the driving force of any economy. To execute the inaugural event, the company received a total of 1 million dollars from sponsors Wartsila; IMCA Jamaica Limited; CL Environmental; Stewarts Auto; Sagicor; Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica; Half Moon Jamaica; Barnaby Engineering and ZAZA Trucking. Through this initiative and other projects, the company continues upholding its commitment and relentlessly pursues new strategies and programmes that will uplift, impact, and shape the future of our students. Jamaica Energy Partners will partner with West Kingston Power Partners in 2019, to host what we expect to be another successful staging of this worthwhile initiative.
