Annually, educators in Old Harbour Bay and West Kingston are pampered on Teacher’s Day all courtesy of JEP and WKPP. This year, the teachers of Blackwood Gardens Basic School and Mel-Nathan Preparatory School were treated to spa services at the Adam & Eve Day Spa. JEP/WKPP appreciate our nation’s teachers for their hard work and dedication to educating and shaping the minds of our future leaders. Also included in the celebrations were teachers from the Old Harbour Bay Primary School who were treated to a luncheon.

JEP Celebrates 15 Years of Dedicated Service to the Jamaica Fire Brigade
For the past fifteen years, JEP has been supporting the efforts of the Jamaica Fire Brigade to improve response times and fire prevention strategies. The Fire Wardens Club is one such initiative that seeks to fulfil the goals of the Fire Brigade; engage youth and reiterate its key messages to residents in the Old Harbour Bay area and, through traditional and digital media, the rest of the island. Thirteen schools from St. Catherine currently participate in this programme which have approximately 500 students enrolled! The goal of this programme is to reduce disasters by educating the students, who in turn, take this information to their families and communities. Jamaica Energy Partners has been contributing to the Fire Prevention Unit of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, St Catherine Division, for over 15 years and was honoured to make an address at the promotions and awards ceremony held recently. Students and teachers were awarded for: •

She expressed that she is happy to see more females in the field of energy and encourages women to continue to strive for positions in engineering and other technical areas. “ You can’t be weak-minded, you have to be physically and mentally strong. Always maintain a positive mindset; learn how to work with people (teamwork is important); keep a good attitude; be determined, and you will achieve your goals and meet your targets” she added. The York Park Fire Station along Orange Street, Kingston, benefited from minor renovations on Wednesday (May 23) to improve the work environment for firefighters. The national Labour Day activity was carried out by members of the Jamaica Energy Partners and West Kingston Power Partners and included painting of exterior walls, perimeter fence, and barracks, and tiling of the administrative and information departments. In an interview with JIS News, Senior Deputy Superintendent, Kingston and St. Andrew Fire Brigade, Julian Davis Buckle, said it was heartwarming to see the firefighters and volunteers pooling their efforts and resources to carry out the work. “It is a venture that we really, really appreciate,” she noted. Mrs. Davis Buckle added that she is pleased to witness the entities interacting with the firefighters and making them feel appreciated, while renovating their work environment.
“What this is doing to the moral of the Fire Brigade is something that we can’t even find words to express. The fighters are most appreciative of it [and] we have over 50 firefighters participating in the project,” she said. Administrative Assistant, Corporate

We try to touch every area that impacts the communities… we reside in,” Ms. Howell told JIS News.
