WELCOME Let's blast those JANUARY BLUES AWAY! As the saying goes “May you live in interesting times!” And it’s been an interesting 12 months for all of us one way or another. Back in the day (in what seems like decades ago) your BIG Buzz annual regional event would have been in a big function suite with around one hundred and fifty people all mingling, chatting and talking to exhibitors with some cake in one hand and a coffee in the other… Well, while we can’t do that currently we can still network and we can still do business. Buzz has been lucky enough to find the Remo online system which suits our relaxed free-flowing style of networking down to the ground.

I love all of the amazing feedback we have from our monthly events, and so please do let me know about your experience of the BIG Buzz Bedfordshire 2021 on Friday 29th of January from 10am to 12noon.

Here are some of the goodies our advertisers would like to tempt you with! The offers will also be available after the event Free tips from Sally Hindmarch on how to be more confident at work Complimentary Express Microdermabrasion for

Top tips for getting more business at the BIG Buzz

Networking online has become a crucial way to generate more business and keep your brand visible in the business community. There are lots of nuances to virtual networking, so here are some top tips to help you make the most of new opportunities.

After the event

Before the event

Arrange 1:1s

Who is good for you?

Networking gives you the introduction but it’s the one to ones that help you get to know people properly. At Buzz we have the 321 rule; talk to 3 new people at each meeting, arrange at least 2 one to ones, invite 1 new contact to the next event.

Introducers, people similar to your best customers, suppliers and partners… think about who you’re working with right now and who you would like more introductions to. Get your electronic business cards ready Here are some alternatives to paper business cards; your LinkedIn link, blurb or offer are great ways to stay connected with peopleand give out your contact details. Have them pre-prepared so you’re not typing during the meeting.

Book your next event It’s so easy to get busy and forget to schedule your next event. The more often people see you and talk to you the more likely they are to remember you.

During the event Have proper conversations

Move around

The more you talk to people on a human level the more business gets done. Great connections come from finding common goals, interests and ethoi (Yes we had to Google the plural of ethos for this one!)

You have the ability to move around the virtual room as you like, so do use it! That will mean you meet more people and have more productive conversations, which will lead to more potential business

Use the chat Remo has a great chat feature. This is where you can paste your prepared business info and electronic business cards.

Interact A really great way to stay in people’s minds is to be supportive between the meetings. Interacting on social media, especially with the Buzz host, sharing connections and ideas will help you grow your network and build those all-important relationships.

COMMUNICATING ONLINE It’s really easy to diminish your authority online just by getting the lighting and camera angle wrong. And it’s easy to fix! Firstly … check the lighting – make sure that you are lit from in front rather than from behind, otherwise no one will be able to see your face. Be careful too of overhead lights that throw shadows across your face. Secondly … check the camera angle and move it so your eyes are level with the lens. If it’s too low your audience will be looking up your nose and that is never a good look! To do this get your mobile and walk around until you’re confident that the lighting is right. Set up

there and then work out the best position for your camera. If you are using your iPad or laptop camera then you may need to get creative with books and boxes until it is at the right level – which is fine as no-one can see what it’s balanced on. Once set up you can enjoy the meeting knowing you are creating exactly the right impression … but don’t forget the right space in the morning might not be right in the afternoon! Run a buzz The BUZZ brand is growing fast – even more so during lockdown! Over the last 8 years, before COVID, when we met in physical locations, we successfully launched in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Essex, Surrey, Warwickshire, Cambridgeshire and London and we’re still growing. With new groups opening across all regions and completely new areas opening in Leicestershire and beyond over the next few months there are tons of advantages to running your own networking group. Access to new contacts Networking is all about meeting people and establishing new contacts to help build the profile of your business. You will have privileged access to new and existing businesses that want to attend your

group and are interested in finding out more. The most powerful form of marketing is word of mouth, so a network of new contacts could be invaluable for the growth of your business. Promotional opportunities As the organizer of a new networking group, you’ll obviously want to promote it within your local business community. One of the main benefits of running your own networking group is that it creates a new platform to promote both your group and also yourself as the key organizer. By using social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn, you can easily promote your own business at the same time without making it too explicit.. The local press in your community are also likely to be interested in your networking group, and will be interested in your background as

well, so there are many promotional opportunities that go alongside running your group. Business expertise New and fledgling businesses will invariably look to you for advice. This may seem daunting, but actually you will develop so many contacts that you can easily provide advice and give out details of other businesses who may be able to help. In turn, these other businesses will be far more likely to recommend you when the time comes. Become a key figure in your local community Once your networking group is up and running, you will become a core part of your business community. Whether it’s through word of mouth, Facebook promotions or press coverage, interest in your networking group

and in your own business will continue to grow. Running your own networking group and becoming a key figure in your local community opens up unlimited opportunities to various clubs, associations, business contacts and potential clients.
