Russell Gilmour

Russell Gilmour is a historically-informed natural trumpet specialist. Although he has a range of experience in many styles of music, he specialises in performing baroque repertoire on the natural trumpet - both with and without the use of vent-holes. Russell has played the modern trumpet, natural trumpet, keyed trumpet and cornetto professionally all over Europe and as far afield as Canada. He has also performed on these instruments for radio and television broadcasts and for several professional recordings. He has worked with distinguished directors such as: Richard Egarr, Andrew Parrott and Daniel Reuss, in some of the world's finest period instrument ensembles, including The Academy of Ancient Music and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. As a soloist, Russell has performed Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.2 at the Royal College of Music, Let the Bright Seraphim in Westminster Abbey and Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in Eb on the Keyed Trumpet in the Winspear Centre in Edmonton.
