Our goal is to find qualified employees for the individual projects in the company. In all the cases, where it is possible to transfer our own personnel from one project to another, this will be prioritised.

We are also involved in an untraditional job in Brazil on a cylindrical, floating platform named Piranema.

Due to the generation of wastewater, when oil is extracted from the underground, this wastewater has to be purified in accordance with new environmental protection standards. Therefore, one of our electricians, Teddy Hansen, has been sent off to install cables and connect a water purification plant. Teddy assists O & J Energy, which is part of a project based on building a small water purification unit in Esbjerg and transporting it to the rig by ship.

Teddy started at the end of October and he describes the experience as very positive – a lot of cables and cable trays are conducted and installed, the weather is good (30-35 degrees) and there is a lot of meat on the menu. It is, however, difficult to communicate with the local people.

Luckily, there are also a couple of Norwegian workers, who are much easier to talk with.

NORWAY Onshore Kårstø

Activity in various plants During 2013 we have carried out some maintenance work and modifications of Statoil’s Kårstø plant, where the work was performed by staff from our Danish as well as our Polish division. Also this time we provided scaffolders and surface and insulation workers to carry out the annual maintenance projects at a methanol plant in Tjeldbergodden.

Last summer some Q-STAR ENERGY staff formed part of the regular daily operation at Stord. The staff was attached to the transport department and mainly took care of rig and crane work. Last but not least we provided surface workers and scaffolders for Kollsnes and Sture.

NORWAY Offshore Oseberg Feltsenter

Setup project at Oseberg Feltsenter and HAP at Ekofisk

The first quarter of 2013 included a large setup project at Oseberg Feltsenter, where our employees were responsible for the setup of dwelling and living rooms.

During the summer we were engaged in the high activity period (HAP) at Ekofisk, where approx. 100 employees carried out various jobs.

as Kvitebjørn until November plus several other installations both in the south and in the north. At the end of the year the demand was concentrated on our insulators for various installations.

We prepare for progress in 2014 and expect to get jobs at Snorre A at the end of 2013 during a HAP period of 7-8 months. Furthermore, we have been notified of 5-6 more HAP-periods in the Norwegian sector in 2014.

Polish teams in Norway in 2013 In 2013 employees from Q-STAR ENERGY POLAND participated in various exciting onshore projects in Norway. For these projects we provided staff specializing in surface treatment, Chartek, metallisation etc.

At the AKER Kvaerner shipyard in Verdal our Polish painters continued the work from 2012. The work consisted of abrasive blasting and metallisation of

approx. 60,000 m2 platform frames, internal platform positioners and various tanks.

Concurrently, we also performed blasting and metallisation of windmill flanges and bolts. The project took place during a period from June 2012 to September 2013. Approx. 30 employees from Q-STAR ENERGY POLAND took part in the project under the guidance of

two foremen from Q-STAR ENERGY, Denmark.

Furthermore, we provided a strong metallisation team to carry out rust proofing in two projects: Clair Ridge (maker of grid structures for buildings/ building tower trusses) and NSO Wind Project (builder of towers for wind farms).

New employee in Bydgoszcz Since April 2013 our new HR assistant Aleksandra Rybarska has been employed in our Polish division in Bydgoszcz. It is her job to recruit new employees and update the staff database. There is no doubt that Aleksandra enjoys working with people, as she always appears smiling at work.

We now have forgers with hot work permits for robotic welding, and they have subse-

quently worked with robotic pipe welding in connection with the bridge reinforcement of Tyra West. Till now the project has progressed very positively, for which our men deserve a lot of credit. We intend to provide forgers for other types of work. We have already sent off the first welder and anticipate feedback with excitement.

Wind Cabling during a project in Kopsa, Finland

Installation of shell towers in the northern part of Finland Kopsa Wind Farm is situated south of Oulu in the northern part of Finland and consists of seven 144 m Siemens 3.0DD wind turbines. Shell towers are a relatively new installation method for wind turbines, which supersedes the traditional pipe tower.

One of the advantages of shell towers is the fact that the tower itself does not require any special transport, as all parts are delivered separately and assembled

Onshore wind installation project at Haiger in Germany Haiger Wind Farm in Germany was one of Q-STAR ENERGY’s first onshore wind installation projects outside Denmark. 15 of our technicians assisted during the installation of five Siemens

The weather was a great challenge for both machines and technicians due to several days of fog and heavy snow.

In connection with a marketing project three of our rope access workers were introduced to the flexibility of working in a rope on windmill blades at 65 metres altitude. The project also gave Mette and Maja from the office the chance to try their strength in mill climbing.
