Blue Ridge BBQ and Music Festival 'hog of a hit' Weekend crowds light by Leah Justice
The crowds may have been down slightly at this year’s Blue Ridge Barbecue Festival, but with costs cut,
organizers say the event was still a success. Although the weather was hot and humid Friday and Saturday, there were no heavy rains either day. Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce President Andy
Millard says crowds may have been smaller, but the people who came had a great time. Millard said the main parking lot was never full. He said in previous years with much hotter weather, he's seen the main lot as well as two overflow

Polk County looks to hook up to Lake Lure water Idea could give Sunny View fire department public water source by Leah Justice
An idea posed this week by Polk County commissioner Warren Watson could alleviate some water source issues in Sunny View. Commissioners decided to look into purchasing water from nearby Lake Lure to give Sunny View Fire and Rescue a public water source.
The county has been discussing the lack of public water for the fire department the last few meetings. Sunny View recently requested a tax increase for next fiscal year in order to secure more ponds with dry hydrants. The county had planned a public hearing to determine whether residents support a tax increase and to get ideas on what residents want in terms of water sources. The
