City administrator Steve Wolochowicz said the city would like to display several old photos of the Landrum train depot area inside the depot after its restoration is complete. Two fatal car wrecks in same day by Leah Justice
Two separate fatal car accidents occurred in Polk County on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Both involved single drivers and only one vehicle. Sgt. Troy Mundy of the N.C. Highway Patrol reported that at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 14, a single car wreck claimed the life of Anthony Hal Fisher, 56, of Lake Bowen, S.C.
Mundy said Fisher was driving along N.C. 9 traveling north about ½ mile from the South Carolina state line when he lost control of his car in a curve, ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. Fisher was wearing a seat belt, Mundy said. He also said speed was a
