Alexander’s Ford nature preserve project complete Public open house scheduled for Oct. 5 by Leah Justice
Polk County has successfully preserved Alexander’s Ford at Bradley Nature Preserve, using no county funding. Alexander’s Ford project manager Ambrose Mills told the Polk County Board of Commissioners Monday, Aug. 20 that the project is closed out. He said the closeout of the project means that the county has completed the improvements and received reimbursement money. “I’m proud to say I’m the project manager for this project,” said Mills. Tryon Town Council gave the go-ahead Tuesday, Aug. 21 to allow Betsy Freeman to reinstate the Welcome Wagon. Freeman offered to bring gift baskets to all new residents in the Tryon area. She said she will ask local businesses to sponsor the project and to offer new residents gifts and gift certificates for local products and services.
Landrum man shoots stepfather in self-defense during argument by Leah Justice
