Popular local musicians Gaye and Phil Johnson will perform music in the southern Appalachia tradition Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage at the Landrum Library. This is another free concert in the series of events associated with the traveling Smithsonian Museum exhibit called “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.”

TFAC announces 2012-13 Main Stage season Tryon Fine Arts Center (TFAC) recently announced its 2012-2013 Main Stage season, sponsored by Millard and Company. The season performances are part of TFAC’s expanding array of programming, TFAC Executive Director Beth Child said, including theater, dance, music of all kinds, lectures, literature and productions for young people.

“We are committed to enriching, inspiring and entertaining our patrons, a community of passionate people with diverse and sophisticated tastes,” Child said. “This area has a lot to offer culturally and we design the Main Stage season to complement and enhance what is already going on.” Thursday, Oct. 11: The season will open with the return of
