Polk creates new economic development website by Leah Justice
Anyone wanting statistical, economic, business, housing or pretty much any other data about Polk County now has a resource online. The Polk County Economic and Tourism Development Commission (ETDC) launched a new website last week for economic development. The website, which can be found at www.polkedc.com, was reviewed during a meeting of the ETDC on Wednesday, Sept. 26. “I’m really, really excited about this because it has everything a business would want to know,” said Polk County Economic Development Director Libbie Johnson. The site has approximately 65 pages of content, including a downloadable fact book about (Continued on page 4)

The Polk County Board of Commissioners will hold a Unified Development Ordinance Workshop on Monday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the Womack Building in Columbus. The county’s regular meeting will follow at 7 p.m.
Tryon plans Tap into Tryon, area’s first beer fest, Nov. 10 Tryon is planning the area’s firstever beer fest, called Tap into Tryon, which will be held in the Tryon Depot Plaza. The event is planned for Nov. 10, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. An array of ‘craft’ beers will be chilled, ready for sampling. Full servings of beer will be available for sale
