A glimpse at innovation The Tryon Police Department will be using the firing range from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. this Friday, March 22. The firing range is located at the waste water treatment plant at the end of East Howard St.

Students from the biofuels class at Polk County High School visited Tawana Weicker’s facility in Landrum where she produces Warhorse and Be Kind Solutions pet care and cleaning products. Weicker began making biofuel to run her family’s vehicles after learning about the process from former PCHS senior Elizabeth Russell. Through that process she discovered how she could create cleaning solutions from biodiesel’s off-product glycerin and has since launched her own line of products. (photo by Gwen Ring)

Advertising on Morris the horse banned by Leah Justice

The days of advertising on Morris the horse in downtown Tryon are officially over following the town mascot being rebuilt last year.

Tryon Town Council met Tuesday, March 19 and approved, by a 3-2 vote, banning advertising on Morris. Council members directed staff to work on other means of

advertising near the statue for local events. The vote was a tie with mayor (Continued on page 4)
