Hwy. 9 waterline construction begins by Leah Justice
Construction began last week on a waterline along Hwy. 9 that will connect regional water sources from Asheville to Charlotte. The Polk County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 19 reviewed what the new waterline would add to its Polk County Water South department. The waterline, which will run from Peniel
Road off Hwy. 9 in Green Creek to the Hwy. 9/ Hwy. 108 intersection in Mill Spring, will shut down the county’s well system at Polk County Middle School. Polk Central Elementary School will tap onto the line as well as several businesses and 19 homes, which will be supplied water from Broad River Water Authority.
